People who bought PC version didn't get a discount on PS3 version and people who start out with PS3 version aren't going to get a discount on the PC version. Why in the world would they give a discount for the PS4 version?
It could be argued that there's a PC version and a "console" version, without differentiating the PS3/4 at all. Buying on the PS3 could easily just unlock access to it on PSN for your account, access which could carry over to the PS4.
And has it been confirmed buying the PS3 version doesn't give you access to the game on the PC? It seemed to me it would work like beta, there would be a single code giving access (beta/registration), and then a code that unlocked the download on PSN. Meaning you didn't get access to it on console just by virtue of having it on PC, but buying the PS3 copy did give you access to the game on the PC.
Granted, I don't know how the release version will differ from the beta, but I definitely only got beta access for a single account on the PS3. And I definitely logged into XIV on at least 3 different PC accounts, not just the one which received the code.
Also, would take a while to dig up the quote since my attention on XIV has been pretty casual for a while, but I'm pretty sure Yoshida implied that the PS3 version would carry over and that's why people keep mentioning it everywhere.
If anyone has confirmation they can quote that specifically says PS3 access does
not carry over to PS4, or that buying the PS3 version does
not give you access to the game on PC, I'd love to see it.
