Nintendo Downloads - August 2013

I clicked the wrong button, so now I have a Nintendo Points code I can't use. Have at it, dudes:

A033 QBDL 1QCM PLPL

(redeemable on Wii or DSi)

I'm guessing that's European. :P Also someone *probably* nabbed it in the past 6 hours without saying thanks. Possibly a lurker.

This has to do with wii u and downloads, hopefully someone can make a thread for this

Wii U Nuclear Option
There have been rumors some time ago that Nintendo might introduce a service with a monthly fee that grants access to the whole VC library. That I could see. And I could see GC and maybe even Wii titles on eShop, but then again, there are no DS games on 3DS eShop, and that seems doable and sounds like a no-brainer as well. Who knows. Nintendo giving away all their 1st party titles up to and including Wii for free seems very, very unlikely, though.

is it just me or did Nintendo rack up the download speed for the Wiiu eshop?

downloads seem to be waaaay faster.
Yea, I noticed too. Pikmin 3 took me an hour to download and install. I was thinking it'd take much longer based on previous game download speeds.

Is the Donkey Kong that is coming for 3DS on the 15th the version Nintendo gave away for free with that promotion? or is it the non-complete version?

Is that the version to get? or it was the free promo version? Sorry for my cluelessness.
The basic NES version is missing a level.

The promo version hacks in the missing level and some other features from the arcade version, though it's still based on the NES version so it doesn't have everything. It's kind of bizarre.

This week's European downloads:

Nintendo eShop (Wii U)

Spin the Bottle: Bumpie's Party (KnapNok Games) - €6.99/£5.99
Spin the Bottle: Bumpie's Party is a cute, addictively fun game that puts an innocent modern spin on a party classic as players sit in a circle around the Wii U GamePad, taking turns to spin the virtual bottle and pair up for a series of innovative physical micro-challenges! Can you and a friend press the A Button and B Button on the Wii Remote without using your hands? Or how about holding your Wii Remote behind your friend's back while you both jump together in sync? If it sounds easy, it isn't!

Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV: Wall of Fire (Koei, SNES) - €7.99/£5.49
Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV is a gripping strategy simulation set in ancient China. Devise strategies against foreign rulers and take control of their cities to grow your own empire. Build armies and move your troops across the map, before plunging into the fray. To be a successful ruler you will need not only great warriors but also farmers and scientists; growing crops to keep your people well-fed, and developing new weapons to aid you in battle. But watch out for unexpected events like plagues, floods or swarms of locusts! This is the US version of the game.

Galaga (Namco Bandai, NES) - €4.99/£3.49
Classic arcade shoot 'em up Galaga was faithfully recreated for the home in this acclaimed NES version. Galaga became an instant classic with its innovative fighter combination system and varied enemy attack patterns. Control your fighter and shoot down the waves of invading aliens; and win bonuses in challenging stages by not missing a single enemy. If your fighter gets captured by an enemy, free it from the tractor beam and combine with it to form a dual fighter with twice the firepower! This is the US version of the game.

Here's hoping the Yakuza HD set comes to the west. However, I appreciate that at the moment that may be a little optimistic given the lack of comment on Yakuza 5 or the HD set for PS3.

Will the Disney games launching this month also be on the eshop? Will Infinity be digital or retail only?

Anyone played Nano Assault EX?
If so, is it good? It's on sale and i'm debating getting it.

Infact, can anyone recommend a good game or two for £10?

I'm going to buy a Nano Assault game while they're on sale here in UK, but I still don't know which. Neo is cheaper and looks prettier, and off-TV play makes it ideal. But EX, I've been told, is the better game. More expensive but fully portable and probably looks stunning in 3D.

Do you intend to buy one today? If you get the 3DS one, let me know how it plays.

I like pretty much anything really. I do dislike Pushmo though so try to avoid recommending Crashmo if possible. :)

That's one recommendation off the list already :(

I think my favourite eShop game is Crimson Shroud but it isn't an easy recommendation. It's basically a tabletop RPG with lots of dice rolling, great visuals and a story by Yasumi Matsuno.

and it's totally awesome if you're into this type of game.

I saw that but was putting it off just until the next sale. I missed out the other and I dare say another's on the horizon.

I enjoyed it too but I just can't recommend it either. You have to be generous to call anything in the game great visually. It's quite ugly and bare-bone in the graphic department. Spells are simply the screen flashing a different color T.T

There is also that stupid part of the game where you need a rare drop gem to keep going.

How good is Mario Golf? Is it anything like NES Open Golf? I hated that.

Mario golf gbc? One of the best golf games around. The rpg career mode is wonderful and it's been a bummer modern Mario golf games no longer adopted it. Still it is a game boy game and the mechanics are 8-bit, but mixing quests and stat progression with golf was a novel idea.

You'll see an endless complaints about it missing when the 3dsgame eventually hits.
