Nintendo Downloads - August 2013

So yeah, Wario Land 3 coming to 3DS VC on August 29th, as confirmed by Nintendo Direct.

Recca Summer Carnival 92 also confirmed "coming soon" as well.

Anyone with a JP 3DS who can compare the video quality and app quality of Hulu vs. Netflix?

The Netflix app is pretty terrible. It's slow and has to reload tiles constantly and the videos are full of compression artifacts. Dark scenes are unbearable.

How does Hulu compare?

Yeah, it's been released. On January 1st of this year.

The only really big things that are missing from the Famicom 3DS VC releases are Castlevania III and Square Enix.

Edit: Oh, and Mother, of course. :p

Oh, I see. I believe I misunderstood what he meant with SMB3 already being in Japan.

Recca? Excellent. Hopefully there's a EU release too.

I even made a repro, since the original is so hard to find and expensive.

So, unfortunately, Nintendo did not announce any new Japanese 3DS VC games for next week in the Nintendo Direct, which I believe will make it the first week with no VC release in Japan since the 3DS VC launched.

There's currently nothing at all for 3DS next week - retail or digital :0

Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV is one of my favorites of the series.

There's only one nitpick I have with the game:
There's no zoomed-out view of the territory map.

Otherwise it's my favorite console entry (with ROTK2 on NES right behind).

If you have some curiosity about the series, go for it.

<3 <3 3D Shinobi III <3 <3

Only problem is that there's a fuckton of ghosting whenever the screen turns black. Other than that, the 3D looks fantastic. Much better than Sonic and Ecco.

Maybe we just won't know what releases until next week. Nintendo didn't list Final Fantasy VI and Secret of Mana until the day they released on the Wii U VC.

I thought Recca Summer Carnival 92 was like an Olympics game or something to begin with (I was watching the Euro stream so just read about US one after), didn't know what the big deal was. :P

Never even heard of it before!

Colors! 3D is getting a release on the JP eShop--it'll be out on August 21, courtesy of Arc System Works. Good for them.

Wow, between several perma price cuts, Myst 3DS went from $29.99 to $4.99.

Game must be REALLY shitty.
Game wouldn't be worth getting if it were free. Total garbage. After finishing off VLR, I was hoping to play a solid port of Myst, not a bad port of a bad DS version.

What we saw yesterday, during the Nintendo Direct, looked absolutely brilliant. Could say the same about Daigassô! Band Brothers P.
It literally feels how the original Wario Ware felt upon release. Just really fresh and really exciting short manic gameplay, and has some of the greatest humour and presentation I've seen for a very long time.

Well, 3 hours later I can say that Steamworld Dig is one of the best games on the 3DS eShop. No wonder Nintendo featured it in the European Direct.

Steamworld is that good, huh? I guess I should've been paying closer attention. Kinda just ignored it up till now.

Yea, Steamworld looks really good in visuals and gameplay and has godly music (Metroid Prime style music with wild west mixed into that).

I suppose that's it for the Wii Virtual Console and with it any hope of Blazing Star or Pulstar being released outside Japan.

Oh well, at least I no longer need to keep checking these threads every week.

NWR gave SteamWorld Dig a 9/10.

Oh, and is Myst worth $5? I know its a shit version, but portable Myst sounds like an OK proposition despite the quality of the port. Maybe I'll wait for a temp sale..get another buck off. That would push me over the edge.

What's good about Steamworld Dig? The footage I've seen makes it look kind of bland.
It's anything but bland. Remember when you were a kid and wondered 'Hey, what if Digger had this huge world, with cunning mechanics, gorgeous parallax graphics and atmospheric tunes? Oh, and a pinch of RPG on top?' Yeah, game is gut.
