It looks like the Dana hate is going to reach undiscovered heights.

Real talk, Dana is not exactly the greatest character in TV history but I never would have imagined anybody could have any big issues with her if it weren't for the internet hate machine.

I know sex is a required staple of action movie/show trailers, but isn't Dana still a minor in Season 3? It's kind of weird that of all the things they can show the trailer would show a clip of her removing her bra with the purpose of tantalizing the audience. Maybe she unknowingly gets involved in some kind of love triangle with a terrorist organization and is blackmailed into sexting the villain's son or something stupid like that, but the focus on her is certainly questionable.

I actually like the actress and I think she does a good job for the most part. The biggest issue with Dana is that she's just plain unlikeable (mostly because of the way she's written) and that she was given WAY too much screen time.

Shoehorning unrelated teen drama into a show about terrorists and spies is just a terrible idea.

That said, I hope they can find a way to make her worthwhile.

Dana was fine until she started her relationship with the veep's kid (and the subsequent hit-and-run).

I don't think she's particularly unlikeable, but even if she were, it's not like I'd care. Likeability has nothing to do with the overall quality of a character.

She was great in Season 1.
The character became shitty in Season 2.

That trailer made it look absolutely terrible. I'm guessing I'll enjoy(and by enjoy, I mean "haha wtf am I watching this for") watching this season and talking shit about it the whole way through. Show really went downhill fast :(

She stands around wringing her hands the entire time and her character brought pointless teenage crap to the show, so yea, lots to love...

.......why

Yeah I'm not sticking around anymore. As said above, this show has gone completely full retard. I can't believe the sheer level of the drop in quality of this show.

Hmmm. Interesting trailer. Like many, I loved S1 and thought S2 was a massive dropoff in quality. Can't tell from the trailer whether S3 is going to be better than S2, but it's hard to imagine it being worse.

That's being generous. It's been a long, long time since I last watched a show that went downhill as fast as Homeland.

Pretty much. The first ep of S2 was pretty damn good, and I was excited...and then...

I just don't see the point in flushing multiple stories down the drain in one season like that. What was the point of the entire master plan?

I mean if anything you end it with Carrie confronting the guy in the tunnels

I've never been more disappointed in a season as that 2nd season of homeland. It went from amazing show in season one to laughable shithole in season 2. Wtf happened?

The guy playing Brody did an excellent job acting.... and they didn't want to let him go via character death like they should have.

Queue the nonsense in season 2.

Gotta win them awards bro.

Real talk, Dana is not exactly the greatest character in TV history but I never would have imagined anybody could have any big issues with her if it weren't for the internet hate machine.

I hated Dana scenes before I ever read a single opinion of the show. I have coworkers who feel the same, including one who started watching on my recommendation and immediately could not stand her. The hate is very real.

My SO thinks Brody is an awful actor, both as a person who can't act and within the story as a trained terrorist who can't do anything without losing his shit, looking suspiciously wild eyed, sweating profusely and hyperventilating like mad. I kinda agree after the whole VP heart monitor scene.

Mentally unstable or not, Carrie too often does unbelievably stupid stuff, cries too much and throws way too many tantrums for an experienced intelligence agent. All this aside, the show has redeeming qualities and I'll continue watching for the Saul as the mastermind villain reveal.

I'll give this season a couple episodes to recapture me, but they will have to do a hell of a job to succeed. Season 2 was horrible. It's like the writers from 24 replaced the writers from season 1.

I have a couple issues with Dana. First off, I'm not a big fan of the actor. That's a totally subjective opinion I admit. I's just the faces she makes, and the delivery of her lines. However, just because I don't like an actor, doesn't mean I will dislike the character.

The other issue is the writing. The Season 2 plot was absolutely awful. All of these big things are going on, and Dana and her new boyfriend go out for joy riding and accidentally kill someone. Okay. While I understand where they were coming from with the plot (showing the dark side and social advantage that goes on with Washington elite) - it came off as this distraction to all the other moving parts in the story. You had a character that was already unpleasant and unlikable (at least for me) - who's traits I didn't like were being brought more to the front because she was bottled up over what had happened.

I'm not against her converting to Islam. It could be a very complex plot, given the relationship she has with her dad, and family. They could do something really deep here. However, I don't have the confidence in the writers after last season to really handle this kind of plot with depth and sincerity. One of the worst things they did last season was the Nazir + Carrie talk in the warehouse, where they tried to show how both sides felt justified in their actions. However, the whole thing came off as ham-fisted. They completely missed the boat on that conversation, when it could have been a really interesting commentary on America's foreign policy (like season 1 did with the Drone strikes plot).

So I'm fearing we will see something similar here. Instead of this being a really deep/conflicting plot with regards to religion, nationality, patriotism - we will just get a plot used to drive drama between Dana and her mom.

Writers are on Dexter levels of stupid. The sexting looks like they haven't changed at all. One more season to redeem it for me or I'm out.

My only gripe with the actors is that Claire Danes overacts a bit. Apart from that I really think that the general scorn for Season 2 should be placed squarely at the writers.

And the Season 2 episode (I forget the number) with the interrogation and Brody's confession to Carrie is still the best episode of the show.
