It's not that bad for a pop song. People act like they're expecting mozart or something

I bet the remixes will slay lives though

She always sounds like she's straining at the limits of her vocal range. It can be painful and unpleasant to listen to at times. My daughter will like the song though.
The gif in the OP, i dunno, it looks like Kimbra..
EDIT: Yup, that's Kimbra.
Will Katy Perry be performing at the VMAs? Wouldn't mind see this a live.
Gaga had a new song come out?
This actually isn't bad....
I like it, but to me it doesn't have that first single feel that California Gurls had.
My December is Kelly Clarkson best album btw.

Much better than that new washed up lady gaga song.
Whats that Katy Perry song where in the video she's dancing at a house party and its like the 80s. I think that "Its Friday" girl is in it.
Sound the alarm: Katy Perry's new single "Roar" has roared early.
The tune, the first single from her forthcoming third studio album "Prism" (due Oct. 22), was slated to premiere on Monday, Aug. 12. However, in the early morning of Aug. 10, the song leaked to the Internet.
In turn, "Roar" has now officially been serviced to radio stations and will likely reach the iTunes Store later today, or by Sunday, Aug. 11. The song will be aired hourly on participating Clear Channel radio stations, like a number of recent major single releases (ranging from Justin Timberlake, Mariah Carey and Adele).
'Roar' was released early in response to the leak. Should be easy to find now that it has been released, such as here.
So this album will go head to head with ARTpop. I predict Katy Perry's album will sell 3x as many albums as ArtPOP. Katy Perry has remained relevant, while Gaga will have to do crazy stunts in order to garner attention like getting naked. Even then, it won't get much press
I highly disagree. Lady Gaga has a bigger fanbase than Katy can imagine but not all Lady Gaga fans aren't Katy fans visa versa. However, realistically.. Lady Gaga will sell more by default. I see a million day 2 of the release... She is more highly anticipated for being away for so long than Katy being here already.
Reaction after hearing the song..
Absolutely not. This song is not killing any charts. I don't like the anthem sound of it and it's so weak. The vocals are an absolute mess. I don't like that awkward lift up in the chorus when she says roar. It sounds so awkward and simply not fun to sing either. Man this was disappointing. I expected more from her and I couldn't even make it past the first chorus. I'm going to listen to Lady Gaga stuff to see if here's is better because this was straight flush for me..
She's a weird pop star because her albums don't exactly light up the charts, but her songs dominate airwaves. I swear to god I think almost every single one of this songs on her last album was a hit.
I guess I should have clarified domestically. Gaga probably has more fans worldwide, but Born This Way was a dud, and Teenage Dream had so many #1's. KPerry has all the momentum
Edit: Ohhhhh ohhhhh.. Lady Gaga is back. That Burqa track is so dope. The complexity in the beat alone has me wrapped in. As well as her power rocky vocals!? Lady Gaga is going to bring it and bring it hard!
Born this way was my favorite album from here. I was so different and dark. Teenage Dream wad your regular run of the mill pop album. It didn't push any boundaries and it's why I'm a big fan of Lady G now. I hated her but she's willing to extend her music and not play it safe. Katy always will and that's why I can't argue against the fact. However going in, Katy Perry being already in the industry will not be beating LG in hype. LG was on hiatus.. She is long overdue. Hopefully adele doesn't try any tricks because little monsters are not having it this time lol
I think she's the only female artist to have 5 #1's from a single album. Rihanna just surpassed her count of number ones, but that will probably change again once Prism hits.
Probably but one thing I hate about Katy and Rihanna is how manufacturered they are. They don't take risks and are extremely predictable. I'm a big fan of KP, not Rihanna and the more she beats her, the better but this playing it safe routine is getting played out. Multimillion dollar artist should be able to try something else out. Prism will be another safe album.. I don't doubt it

Hook is decent, but the rest is pretty mediocre. Lyrics are lacking, but that's to be expected, I suppose. Still, I liked Wide Awake whenever it was on the radio. And Teenage Dream.
This is just sort of predictable.
Rihanna isn't predictable at all. In fact, she's the most consistent trendsetter in Pop right now, beyond even Gaga.
I agree.
The one real criticism I can muster for Roar is that I WAS expecting something a little less predictable from Katy. Especially after her promo for the track featured her burning the iconic Teenage Dream blue wig and literally burying that persona. It seemed like she was priming the world to expect something different this time around, but Roar sounds like something that could have been on Teenage Dream.
Still, it's a good song, and we're likely going to be hearing it everywhere.
