Can someone (Hoffman, Toma, One Foul Note, More_Badass, anyone really) just dump a list of games for me to make impressions for? PM me or something if you're shy. I guess a limit of 20 games?

If it's really good, a GIF might come out.

I would like a bit of homework.

on IGS if you BTA, you get Thank You: The Game or something like that

Ah sorry, dont know anything about it, but its probably an even smaller game by the same dev. I doubt its anything super interesting (but I could be wrong of course).

You want a recommended games list for the current thread basically?

Games that are featured in the OP this month? Definitely would recommend Outer Wilds, MTB Freeride, Against The Wall, Tessallation, and ISIS

If you're talking general recommendations, Nitronic Rush, Iji, and Warning Forever (see page 1 for WF download link) are all great free indies

  • Lumenox: Aaru's Awakening

    [*]Guacamelee
    [*]Mirror Moon EP
*gets notepad out* So that's 10 right now. Thanks! Already have Guacamelee and Mirror Moon.

My favourite one, from the games featured this month, is definitely Ergon / Logos.

As for gif source material, Bokida could provide some, if you are a creative type. In its current form it's nothing more than a sandbox toy, where you can get wild with your imagination, but the devs said they're planning to incorporate some conventional gaming elements in the future.

Chester
Gateways
Smooth Operator (That game is surprisingly good)
Strata

Also, I'd LOVE more impressions on Infested Planet.

Yup.

And don't forget Papers, Please

Also would recommend Inverto on Desura. Just released for $3.99 and it's a really fun first person puzzle game with gravity altering spatial challenges

As The Bridge is a daily deal on Steam, I thought this would be a good place to ask if it is worth it or not.

The Bridge caught my attention months ago but due to the lack of reviews and impressions I end up forgetting about it. Also, the trailer on the store page is not that exciting. It leaves me with the impression that while the game looks nice on screenshots, it's not that exciting when seen in motion. Anyone here played the game? Is it good?

I had played the alpha and did not find the game mechanics clear.

I gave Chester impressions before, was liking it. Would certainly like to get back.
Liking what I'm playing of Chester on Hard difficulty, need to get used to the floaty jumping. On the second world. Mr Chesterworth III is great for the collectables, and has a homing attack.

The art reminds me of Ballpoint Universe, that cutout style.

Personally, I think the most outstanding part of the game is the art, but the puzzle game behind it wasnt necessarily bad either. Just not as groundbreaking as the descriptions and art would make you think maybe. Here is a rather good description of the game by one of my Steam friends:
The Bridge is a 2D puzzle game with beautiful Escher-like architecture and level design, hand-drawn black-and-white art and its own laws of physics. It is divided into 48 levels with the first half requiring minimal use of logic and feeling like somewhat of a pushover; fortunately, this is mostly remedied in the second half--a “mirrored” version of the first with additional obstacles thrown in--where a greater number of puzzles actually make you think.

The puzzles start off easily enough with simple gravity manipulation and key collection, then introduce additional elements consistently: deadly balls which roll as you rotate the environment and can adhere to their own laws of gravity; points which invert gravity and shift you between black and white dimensions where you may only interact with objects matching your current color; vortexes which suck anything near them into place and hold them there until deactivated; mirror images of yourself which require entering multiple doors or picking up multiple keys simultaneously to progress; and gravity curtains, where you may remain stationary while rotating the world to work objects into their desired positions relative to your own.

The Bridge features Steam achievements and some well-hidden collectibles to find. Gamepad is natively supported and the controls are very simple, and consist of walking, rotating the environment clockwise or counter-clockwise and rewinding time when you make a mistake. It feels very reminiscent of Braid at times, but the puzzles aren’t as satisfying or clever as those in Braid and the overall difficulty curve should have been based on the latter half of the game. Anyone who stops before the mirrored world is doing themselves a disservice and if I had to judge the game based on the first 24 levels alone I would have to judge it much more harshly. As a whole, The Bridge manages to be a worthwhile puzzle experience and to feel very solid despite being made by two people.

@Toma, has any new content been added to Cube World? I was considering buying but saw in the OP that it was lacking content. The requirements seem pretty reasonable. Landscapes looks gorgeous and I love to explore and find amazing vistas.

Any roguelike or survival elements?

And I'll be trying Survivor Squad MP in about an hour.

Cube World is unlikely to run on your PC as its horribly optimised, but he has a tech demo on his website for trying the requirements. Try running that. He hasnt added anything meaningful since launch and you can easily wait another 6-12 months for that probably.

And you still available for SS multiplayer?

So that multiplayer went well, huh?

I put a post on Gaming Discussion, hopefully I'll get some help on how to that stuff with the router and ports. If all goes well, we should be able to play MP tonight.

I am sure we'll get to trying it eventually, but right now I'll need to go off to bed. Work in 8 hours!

I think I got it to work. MP says NAT OK instead of needing to manually open ports, so I'm guessing that's good.

But I wasn't connecting to any games, maybe not many people were playing

Either way, I should be good for tomorrow

Thanks for the heads up, I've been meaning to play this game for awhile now!

Is Journey any good if you don't intend to play it online?

Big part of its charm comes from interacting with human being on the other side, might say it's the core the game is build on, but, yeah, it's still worth it in my opinion, for beautiful art alone. Why do you plan to play it offline, if I may ask?

Some people dont even notice its online when they havent been specifically told it is. My gf thought she played with AI, its really unintrusive, give it a try. The way Journey plays with the conception of MP is one of its biggest accomplishment and you'd miss out a big part what makes this game so special.

Devolver Digital has picked up Gods Will Be Watching:

Valencia-based indie developer Deconstructeam and rogue game publisher Devolver Digital have announced their partnership to release Gods Will Be Watching to PC and mobile platforms in Spring 2014. Originally created as one of the more notable entries in the Ludum Dare 26 game jam, Gods Will Be Watching is a radical take on the traditional point and click adventure designed around ethical conundrums and moral dilemmas of a space exploration team stranded on an unfamiliar world.

Gods Will Be Watching is being completely overhauled as Deconstructeam expands on the themes of despair, commitment, and sacrifice to create a minimalistic point and click adventure unlike anything else before it. Players will be faced with puzzles based around the survival of the crew and must make tough decisions that will affect the entire crew’s wellbeing.

Through Indiegogo, the development team has raised nearly €20,000 for the full game and Devolver Digital is excited to announce that the publisher will match all funds raise through the end of the campaign to ensure Gods Will Be Watching reaches its full potential.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Devolver Digital and make Gods Will Be Watching everything we ever wanted it to be from the start,” said Jordi de Paco, founder of developer Deconstructeam. “We’re excited to receive such great support and can’t wait to implement some of the new features that are now possible.”

Follow development of Gods Will Be Watching via deconstructeam.com or on Twitter @Deconstructeam. For more information on Gods Will Be Watching or to back the project, please visit the Indiegogo campaign page here: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/gods-will-be-watching

Last month I said that brazilian indie groups made a gamejam of 3 days for core + 1 week for details to make horror games.

Developers includes Oniken's Joymasher and others.

The link still misses 3 games, but you can play most of the games here

I strongly recomend "The Chainletter Massacre" (the writing is a little more to the hilarious side than horror), but they are all great

I'm moving to a new place actually and I haven't sorted out my internet yet. Thought I'd give it a try but I was told that the multiplayer was a large part of the experience.

In this case, I would wait if I were you - thought it's something permanent, that's stoping you from playing it as it was intended.

Just listened to the latest Meta Vedetta episode and as always it was very good with amazing tracks choosen, with my personal favorite being the one from Risk of Raim. I'm also curious to see more about Cosmic DJ.

Also, does anyone else play Dungeon Dashers? Love the game, even if it's a little easy. Can't wait for the multiplayer to show up in it.
I have Dungeon Dashers and it is great. I only found it because of these monthly threads and am definitely excited for the co-op. I am a sucker for dungeon crawling in general but it is pretty cool having an actual party for this type of game.

We went to Comiket this past weekend for work, but we did bring back some doujin swag while we were there. Some really really cool stuff, too. I'm going to take some pics later today.

Petit Depotto, the guys who made Unholy Heights were also there promoting the game, but they had a single poster teasing their next game:

We have no idea what the game is yet, but I love the art. Can't wait until they unveil it.

Candle got funded!!!

Nice. Are you going to post about the doujin games that you bought/played in the Comiket?

Oh yeah. I took some pics today. I'll be sure to post them in a bit when I have a moment. We bought stuff mostly for job research, but we came away with some real surprises.
