Nintendo Downloads - August 2013

The 90's Arcade Racer is estimated for a November release. According to the latest updates, "development is moving ahead smoothly and on schedule".

I really missed out... I need to find a Wii that has the DKC Trilogy already bought on it and buy that, then do a transfer. If it will transfer at all. Then if I transfer onto a Wii U that already has games bought on it. what happens? Do they simply add on or replace the existing games allowed to be on the console?

All games already on the target Wii U will remain. Any games that are on the source Wii but not on the target Wii U are transferred over. Any games that are already on the target Wii U and also on the source Wii will not be transferred and will remain on the source Wii.

All saves from the source Wii will be copied to the target Wii U, overwriting anything that was on the Wii U. Make sure to backup your saves to an SD card before doing the transfer! For saves that can't be backed up normally, you may have to use some homebrew software.

Summer Carneval 92 RECCA is out today in Europe for the 3ds and it is the most awesome vc title in a long time for me personaly.
Hopefully this means we'll see it next week or so in the US. As a shmup fan, it looks like an interesting game for the NES & I would like to try it out, especially considering how rare it's suppose to be.

Perfect. Now I just need to confirm DKC will make it over even though it was delisted. It should from my understanding. Ha, this will be the one time a console based account worked out for the better over a hardware transferable person based account like PSN. I found a Wii with DKC 1-2 plus all the Mario's for $25. For that price they keep the Wii and sell again. DKC 3 gets the shaft again!! Poor Kiddy Kong, he is the Rodney Dangerfield of DKC games, never gets any respect.

As for the slow VC releases, I hear you. It's not fair as they made us wait between games the first time around for years... This should only take a year to get EVERYTHING the first Wii had up for Wii U VC. At least for the Nintendo Systems and 1st party games. They are making us wait twice an insane amount of time to complete our collections. Pretty lame when you think about it.

I know it takes extra programming but come on, no Zelda ALTTP or SMB3 yet? Yes SMB3 is coming, they are all coming, but Super Mario lost his super speed button or something. The thing that kills me the most is that the system is starving for good games and they are in no rush at all for the old classics.

Yup. It would be so easy to hype the console to many of my gamer friends who don't own a Wii U: "You have access to every single Nintendo game console! NES, SNES, N64, GBA, GC, and you can play them on your gamepad or tv!" Even with their stupid high prices, I KNOW that this would sell consoles. Then add the few good exclusives coming, and together it would make the Wii U very attractive. But no, Nintendo needs to get their maximum profits by trickling releases into "one NES game a week...if you're lucky." So dumb.

You do have access to pretty much every game your friends remember, though. Right now you just have to buy a number of them in Wii mode.

Gamers are really clueless when it comes to what people would like to play from retro eras. Trust me, it's mostly the stuff that's already available today on the Wii Virtual Console with a very few exceptions.

Anyone get Pokemon and can confirm it definitely doesn't have the 'dungeon crawl' type levels anymore? Its just arena battling shit the whole time?

This is the most disappointing online service I can remember. VC should be amazing on this system but instead.... we get that

Sigh.... Nintendo.

It's unbelievable to me that the Wii U VC is so behind the Wii's VC service in the same timeframe. Especially saddening considering that the Wii U is so content starved. :/

The fact that we will probably have to wait 1-2 years before getting the first N64 titles is just sad. What a sad affair....

I understand that it's accessible through Wii VC, but the games look much better on the gamepad than on an HDTV. Plus we're still missing a lot of great N64 games, all GBA games, all GC games, and way too many missing GB,GBC, and NES games on 3DS VC.

I don't think gamers are that clueless really. They just want and expect a retro store on Nintendo consoles that has parity with the depth of content and ease of use as Sony, iTunes, Microsoft, Steam, etc, etc.

$5 for NES games is pretty much the worst thing ever.

so sad nothing N64 has made it's way to offscreen play.

Runner 2 is fantastic, buy it if you don't already own it.

Also, any Wii U owners that tried getting high scores on it, add me. I'm first among my friends, which includes a bunch of gaffers, but only a couple have even finished it from what I can tell. NNID is the same as my GAF name.

The reason is pretty obvious though: Wii VC was a BIG focus as it was the first service of its kind really. Everything was basically new and the Wii's hype had publishers jumping on it with their catalog games.

I just want to stop in here to say that Runner 2 has been one of my favorite games of the past year. It looks amazing and is just a dream to play.

Maybe a little too easy compared to the first one because of the checkpoints. But those don't even matter once you start going for high scores.

I don't guess there's anyway to buy something from the Wii U shop without actually owning a Wii U yet, is there? Would love to pick up Trine 2 for that price, but don't have the hardware just yet.

You can't, no. Nintendo eShop's currently only accessible through the hardware.

You can play all these Nintendo games on Sony, Microsoft, Apple or PC machines?

There's a HUGE number of games on the Wii Virtual Console. Games you simply cannot play anywhere else legally. 3DS has a large number of games also unavailable anywhere else other than through retro purchases and retro hardware.

Everyone underestimates just how much exclusive stuff there is on these Nintendo systems and at the same time attempts to devalue it by comparing it to games that simply aren't the same games.

Not to mention that the GB/GBC/GG stuff on 3DS is simply astonishing. Amazing, amazing stuff for a system only a couple of years old. Fantastically presented.

But you know I've heard that Nintendo has a decent catalog of games, too. Maybe they could put a few of those up...

Personally I find it interesting that the DLC of New Super Mario Bros. 2 has gone on sale in Europe. I hope that this sale comes over elsewhere.

But you know I've heard that Nintendo has a decent catalog of games, too. Maybe they could put a few of those up...

Sure but you also know that they do the weird individual emulation thing for every game and also have now three VC platforms (Wii, 3DS, WiiU) to take care of, not just one. Nevermind all the other stuff that requires their attention with far greater urgency (WiiU firmware, etc). I bet their VC team is spread pretty thin at this time. Considering that, I'd say they're doing okay.

Do I like that? Hells no. I want to play SMRPG on my GamePad and finally have some N64 games. But I can appreciate the situation for what it is.

What would be nice, is to have both Wii and Wii U versions for those new Wii VC releases. Of course I could get them for Wii, but I prefer gamepad to classic controller, and not having to deal with points instead of money.

I think Wii support is just about done. And honestly, they should have thought ahead about easily porting VC games to their next console. I don't see why they have to restart everything from scratch just to allow compatibility with the Wii U GamePad.

Well, they have to start from scratch because they have a new console with different guts inside it. Tying ever game into Miiverse with its own community, supporting the streaming seems to require new work to be done. And again, all already available VC games are accessible from Wii Mode.

no1curz about Wii mode so you defenders of the trickle really need to stop with that nonsense. The entire draw to Wii U VC is the games look like shit on HDTVs, therefor WE WANT GAMEPAD. "Bububu Wii mode" only makes you look pathetic.

Take it down a notch, will ya?

a) not "defending" the trickle, explaining. please actually read what I'm saying.
b) Wii mode is a thing, ignoring its existence is silly. also, see a).

Man, when are we getting the summer update? We don't even know what will be in it yet. I am hoping for tabs to organize all these icons on my menu screen. I do not really like the folders on the 3DS.

Did you miss that they pushed that back to Fall?

Not comparing the games, we're comparing the SERVICE. And the service the other companies provide is vastly superior.

Imagine if you bought an iPHONE 5 and then had to wait 3 years while Apple caught up re-adding all the iPHONE 4 apps to the 5. No, it doesn't work that way. You buy a new Apple device, and you can instantly access all the content you had on your previous Apple device, with the added benefits of bigger, better screen, faster processor, etc.

But no, let's just focus on "Apple doesn't have Mario, so it's ok. Let Nintendo continue on as they have been with their garbage, anti consumer, ass backwards service. Because Wii VC, which came out 7 years ago, has a lot of games!!"

I swear the Nintendo Defense Force defends everything Nintendo does. There's no excuse for all (or at least most) of the VC games to not be ready, besides incompetence.

Also "but your games are on Wii mode" is a horrible because going into Wii mode is a pain in the ass. You need to pull out a Wiimote and classic controller, going into Wii mode is slow, and the games look like shit.

Wait, you mean to tell me you don't want to buy two inferior versions of old arcade games? $5 is a steal!

Would you kindly actually read and understand the post before pulling the NDF card for no reason. Thank you.

Wow, when did that happen? Was it in a Nintendo Direct?

Don't recall. Sometime during the Summer. E3 maybe?
