Even though I played the first Pokemon Rumble and liked it, and also enjoyed the 3DS one, this one is a disappointment :( I really wish I hadn't of gotten it.

Also screw the Virtual Console haters, I'm just happy through it I can play games like Earthbound, Final Fantasy 2 & 3, Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG all games that never came out in Australia back in the day.

lol @ Virtual Console haters. More like Nintendo's ass backwards handling, trickle 0-1 NES game a week haters.

Really don't agree with this. NES/SNES games look gloriously sharp and vibrant on my TV through the Wii U.

Wii mode is 480p and nothing looks good at 480p if you have a big tv

That's sad, maybe I'll buy it if it's cheap. I poured plenty of love in the 3ds version.

Why couldn't they have done the Arcade Galaga this week? Put some damn effort into it. Of course, Arcade games aren't supported on the Wii-U for no good reason. Paying $5 for the NES version of this is crazy. I believe you can get Galaga on XBLA for $5 with leaderboards and achievements. C'mon Nintendo.

I was playing Earthbound earlier today and thinking how good the experience is for a first time player. I also thought about how great it would be to play other great games I've missed out on, for the Wii-U. Games like Mother 1 or Illusion of Gaia or Secret of Evermore, etc. How those games would be so easy to do and yet Nintendo still doesn't do them. It's sad.

Well Nintendo did mention Earthbound is only behind NSMBU and Pikmin 3 for adoption rate.

That's very good to hear. The next logical step would be to bring Mother 1 over since I believe it was already translated, right? Of course, logic is not what Nintendo seems to have much of these days.

with the huge success of mother 2 i'd expect mother 1 to show up by xmas

Yes I believe the translation is already done, but it could be a little awkward considering Earthbound has no subtitle or anything.

Nintendo will apparently announce several new eShop games at Gamescom, one of which will be a port of Momonga Pinball Adventures by Paladin Studios: http://www.paladinstudios.com/

I want a Nintendo pinball game with themed tables from all of their franchises.

I've been thinking about it and I think that Nintendo should e-release all their old Player's Guides coinciding with the VC releases of said games, like with Earthbound. I realize that EB originally came with the Guide but I think it would be a cool idea for people who don't own them. Chrono Trigger, Zelda 3, and others come to mind.

.
They could call it Earthbound 0 or something.

My mind was blown when I was reading an Eathbound Wiki and finding out that there are strong hints that Ness's dad is Ninten from the first game, makes me want to play it all the more.

Just for the record, pretty sure that's fan speculation. Considering that there's about ten years between Mother and EarthBound, it's kind of a stretch as well. It's probably probably meant to be deliberately ambiguous: Ness closely resembles Nintendo, Paula closely resembles Ana, and Jeff closely resembles Lloyd.

Since there was never an official release of Mother in English, Nintendo can probably slap whatever subtitle they want on it.

I played Kirby's Dream Collection on the Wii U with my HDTV. It looked surprisingly pretty decent...

From what I've read on it there is alot of little sublte hints like a rendition of Ana's them playing when Ness comes home, her clay model is holding a frying pan which was Ana's weapon of choice and some other details.

I agree its all speculation and we most likely won't ever know, but its fun to see these little ties between the games.

I really really hope Mother comes out on the VC someday, I'd play the hell out of it on the 3DS VC.

After playing Awakening and being introduced to the Fire Emblem franchise, I would love to see them release some of those games for VC. I know the majority aren't localized and translated, but I'd be cool to get the two or three handheld ones that are. I'm having so much fun with Awakening.

I finally had the time to play Mighty Switch Force on the 3ds for the first time and it has been a pleasant surprise. The game sounds great, looks nice and plays very well. 6 puzzles have been completed, where are the extra puzzles that came later as an update?

Also, I played only 2 hours of Etrian Odyssey IV demo and am planning on playing more. It was a great demo, my first experience with EV series. I'm thinking of pre-ordering it now.

So, Etrian Odyssey was pretty good, with some great mechanisms like the map drawing, but I really disliked the character art...

I'm not the biggest fan of the EO art either but there's at least one character per class that I like. Which is good enough for me :lol

By the way, Pokémon Rumble U and DuckTales Remastered are not £13.49 as listed in the press release (and thus the first post), they are actually £11.39 each.

Kinda similar here too. The art of some of the girls is not to my taste but it's nice that you're given a variety to choose from. It's easy to avoid the ones you don't like. The art in general seems to be good though. I liked some of the NPCs you speak to in town and the more adult looking characters you can choose from. The game has an interesting style going on for it if you ignore some of the fanservice type girls, the rest is not really typically generic.

Agreed. The art is terrible. What's up with the pedo garbage?

Calling it pedo garbage would do the art and the game injustice. Then again, what the game has is acceptable after the shit I've seen in other games. It's not that bad, especially when you have the freedom to bypass some of the questionable art.

Nintendo may have published those games in some territories (Europe comes to mind), but Square Enix own the rights to them. And for some reason, they seem not too keen to support the Virtual Console (especially on 3DS). :(

NIS America Europe (best name ever) are claiming the 3 use EOIV demo is down to Nintendo. They did not respond to me but someone else who asked. The person has pointed out that it was far more in America.

If future demos are so limited it would hint at a policy change but I expect the usual; NOE goofed up.

The translation is done. It even has a few errors. Things like calling the spells PSI *name* but in an accessory referring to PK Freeze instead.

Did you play the existing Nintendo IP based pinball games. We've seen Kirby (GB, DS - as mode in mass attack), Metroid (DS), Mario (GBA) and Pokemon (GBC GBA). I'm up for some Zelda pinball, especially if it is based on the cartoon...

The first time you leave your house when it's day time in Earthbound, part of the song "Pollyanna" plays. Also, Paula+Ana= Pollyanna.

But there is a bit of a comparison between the two games, with the 4 possible party members all having a strong similarity between them (well most of them). The 8 melodies needed to beat the game, a similar father figure in both games, as well as a mother and sister.

There's theories that one follows the other, but then there's some where they believe that it's just a retelling in the same sense that Star Fox 64 was to the original Star Fox.

Plus, with the timeline, it's near impossible for Ninten to be Ness' father unless Earthbound takes place at the very end of the 90s and Mother 1 takes places in the very early 80s, but even still, the Japanese version says it's in 1988. And the setting of Mother 1 is more towards the Northwestern United States while Earthbound is the Northeast and Europe/Africa/Asia.

I forgot what I was rambling about. But I do hope they bring the other Mother titles to America. The NES translation patch was done very well, so was Tomato's Mother 3 patch(which he offered for free to Nintendo). So really it's just up to Nintendo to drop the bomb on us.

It would be nice to get one base Nintendo pinball game like Zen Pinball, where you could download the theme tables that you wanted. I doubt Star Fox, or Pikmin will be getting their own pinball games at this point, but they could easily get tables.

They become unlocked once you finish the main levels.

This guy gets it.

Not comparing the games, we're comparing the SERVICE. And the service the other companies provide is vastly superior.

Imagine if you bought an iPHONE 5 and then had to wait 3 years while Apple caught up re-adding all the iPHONE 4 apps to the 5. No, it doesn't work that way. You buy a new Apple device, and you can instantly access all the content you had on your previous Apple device, with the added benefits of bigger, better screen, faster processor, etc.

But no, let's just focus on "Apple doesn't have Mario, so it's ok. Let Nintendo continue on as they have been with their garbage, anti consumer, ass backwards service. Because Wii VC, which came out 7 years ago, has a lot of games!!"
You mean how PS4 and Xbox One play all the games you bought on the PlayStation and Xbox services on PS3 and Xbox 360? Oh, wait... you can't play any of them on there. That's a great comparison you have there!

I'm hoping that Earthbound being name dropped in the Press release means that it's doing well.

I'm really hoping it does well enough that Mother 1 + 3 end up seeing a release on the WiiU.

It means precisely that going by the words surrounding the name dropping :)

I really like that finally we're closer to Mother 3 than ever. GBA on Wii U is pretty nice and this game would be the best to launch the service.

We need pokemon on vc though... But GameFreak seems to dislike the idea...

It's definitely doing well:

Nintendo said:
EarthBound launched July 18 for the Virtual Console service on the Nintendo eShop for Wii U and is off to a great start. Only two eShop titles, New Super Luigi U and Pikmin 3, generated more consumer spend in the same time period since launch.

I like the Gamepad as well for Super Mario World and Super Metroid.

They should just make a Gamepad unit with portable processing hardware that plays just old Nintendo games on it self contained. Just throw on all the NES / SNES / N64 / GB / GBC / GBA games. All the cartrige based Nintendo plateforms. Sort of like a dedicated VC deluxe Gamepad Tablet IPS LCD device but with a bigger and better screen than any 3DS say. In fact I would have loved for the Wii U to blur the lines of console and portable even more, be a bit bigger, and be like a self contained portable Super Vita.
