Good catch, I had completely forgot about this deal. Seeing as it's limited to 360/xbone, it's gotta be why.
It has essentially bomba'd so far. It's disengenuous to say that it made them billions when most all the sales could have gone to Win 7 instead. It's a failure, but not a Zune.
I hope they do. If I ever saw a professional outlet use a Cboat post as their source or as confirmation for anything, I would have a serious case of the facepalms.
Those are pretty much my thoughts as well. I have one pre-ordered and the idea of a Kinectless version that would be cheaper is nice. I am not super into the Kinect, but that being said I have become excited about the technology involved and the benefits the Kinect does offer. Being able to tell the system what to do with voice commands sounds like a unique experience.
To me it just isn't worth waiting till April to see if "whispers" of a potential release will actual become a full retail product. I would rather pay the extra 100 dollars and enjoy the benefits the sensor does offer than wait 5 months in the small slight chance that there could be a cheaper Kinect-less version.

Things would take a serious competitive turn with a $350 Kinect-less Xbone. I'd definitely be considering one at that point, without a doubt.
Given he has a far superior record of accuracy compared to any other insider on the planet, why would you do that?
I wouldn't say his word is 100%, not because of Cboat himself, but as other insiders will themselves say, things of this nature are dynamic and change constantly. However, he's highly unlikely to be wrong unless things do take a late change or he's misinterpreted something. He is after all human, I think lol.
According to Reiko, some other GAF member sent her/him false insider information about the Xbox One being substantially more powerful than the PS4. Reiko apparently got caught up trying to compete with Buttocks/zomgbbqftw/thuway/matt etc, and instead of exercising good judgement, posted the false information as insider information. In accordance with GAF rules, Reiko was banned when the specifications were released.
Reiko may have been making up the other GAF source though, there's no way to authenticate her/his claims. Was a pretty cool GAF member though. I hope his ban expires soon.
That's fantastic. New consoles coming out are always my favorite times for super hostile forums and some truly amazing posts. The Amirox FFXIII post is an instant classic in regards to console war craziness.

What ended up coming from that, was none of it true? I skipped over that whole debacle.
Because it is foolish for a journalist to write an article based on a source they don't themselves know anything about. Even if that source is extremely reliable, it is a risky thing to do. We can't even be certain that cboat is the same person every time. The mods might have the ability to do so, but they aren't talking.

A PS4 developer and several GAF insiders said that the numbers were wrong.
The insiders said it was 5,5GB of physical RAM and 0,5GB of virtual RAM. (I have no idea what's the difference, I only know that adds up to 6GB of RAM).

EDIT 2: Also, what Casimir said. Leadbetter (who wrote all the PS4 bashing articles) used as a source for this a B3D member who was talking BS.
They could absolutely write an article about Cboat stating rumours, so long as they advertise it as just that, and not use it as straight fact. Hell, journalists write about rumours and insider titbits all the damn time.
Leadbetter is a known Xbox fanboy. He had a very public meltdown with series of blatantly misleading articles trying to mitigate the PS4's dominance over the Xbox One; and destroyed all credibility that Digital Foundry had in the process.

Hmm good points... MS really dont seem to gie a crap for anything really... As long as they're on dat dere USGov. funding they couldn't care less. The only real threat I see for them is in the field of OS if linux ever became popular but Im not holding my breath on that.

P.S, I'd only do this if I was one of the more tabloid blog esque sites like Kotaku, not a more established site that generally only posted pre officially confirmed information unless they had direct info otherwise.
But this is talking make belief, in reality I think it's probably better if this stuff just stays here on GAF.

Seeing as how I didn't play much Halo 2 online, yes! It would be a new experience to me.

I dont understand why people have so much trust in MS, that they will buy a Xbox One day one ?
Xbox 360 was my most played console this gen.
Other than that, hardware wise the messed up before.
I had 3 consoles that had RROD, until i got my elite.
The customer service was great no complaints there.
Software wise, they have a great online servers and Live is the bomb.
But since the Ps3 release was a year from, why did MS put out the console so hastly ?
Only to gain momentum or they just didnt care releasing a faulty product ?
Again i enjoyed my 360 but trust has been lost, and the issues with MS and the One since the reveal havent put any more trust in me.

Same here! And the great thing is unlike Halo CE, Halo 2 actually had LIVE protocols written for it. That means that all 343i and Microsoft have to do is resurrect the protocols and then boom! Halo 2 Anniversary! And you know that they're going to do it too. They would be daft not to make a remake of the game that made console online multiplayer what it is today.
