Is Giana Sisters more platformer or 'puzzle' platformer?

I'm an old fan of the C64 game and enjoyed the DS one enough, but I want running and jumping not a couple of jumps then ugh how do I open this door etc.

There really needs to be some more classic RPGs on eShop other than Earthbound.

Breath of Fire II should be out shortly, no? Wasn't there an official announcement about it?

Really interested in Secret of Mana and no I won't just get the Wii VC version. Miiverse really adds to my enjoyment of these games... and I got DDP cash credit to use.

There's a whole bunch on the Wii shop! Just use Wii mode, it's totally awesome!

I played through the first couple of levels and no real puzzles yet. The gameplay has you switching between cute Giana and punk Giana all the time, it's possible that later levels include more difficult puzzle elements...

When loading a level there's a 20 second load, which is kind of long, but apparently PS360 versions had it longer than that. No load times when dying and returning to check point, so that's nice.

The music score by Machinae Supremacy is brilliant, although the new stuff doesn't quite match the melodies of the original C64 game.

I'm interested as well. Any impressions?
My kids love it. They've progressed to lvl 3 or 4 so far. Neat gameplay mechanics ideas, but overall game's a bit easy for seasoned gamers. At least from my observations from those first levels.

Why have I not heard about Muscle March before? This game is pure win, the type of japanese weirdness I've been missing lately.
I remember seeing the trailer for that when it was originally Japan only. Man, the looks on my friends' faces when I showed them that.

...though I'm glad it was slightly cheaper in the US ($5 compared to 800 yen in Japan), as the actual gameplay is just Simon Says with the Wiimote+Nunchuk with 4 different poses, when waggling the HELL out of them to catch up. Not to mention it's actually a port of an arcade game. Only reason to buy it is for the weirdness factor, which kind of wears out once you beat all 3 levels & do the endless mode a few times.

The later first world levels are already too difficult for me, but the beginning was indeed pretty easy.

I found the controls to be unresponsive at times, but it's worth the fiver just to look at all the crazy stuff going on in the background.

Alright, got a new Wii U. I had one last year and linked my Club Nintendo account to an NNID, so now it's not letting me link it to my new NNID. What do I need to do? Do I even have any options?

Hope this is the right thread for this question, saw that the Wii U thread was closed.

Did they re-release it? I remember buying on Wii some years back.

Yeah, the controls are pretty bad, and yeah, it's still worth playing. The craziness just makes for whacky fun.

I just had a revelation: why doesn't Nintendo send the new 3DS games announcements through spotpass? Currently the only way to know there are new games is to either check on the internet or randomly open the eShop for any news, something quite easy to forget.

I think Spotpass is the ideal channel for this kind of thing.

They do for some titles. Miyamoto was sent out for Luigi's Mansion 2. It should be done more often though and for third parties as well.

That was with Swapnote, which not everyone uses. Although I'd much prefer a Swapnote to a generic notification. There was that one Luigi's Mansion 2 Swapnote where we got to hear Miyamoto say "Boo." which I thought was really funny.

Rayman Legends is this week?! That completely slipped me by. Hmm, but I was adamant that I would finish W101 before buying another game...

Guess I gotta start playing!

Who thought we'd be saying that about the Wii U, eh? :)

Right! As I wrote in the 2013 games thread, I started W101, I have already bought Splinter Cell Blacklist and Disney Infinity and still have some missions to platinum in Pikmin 3. And then comes October with its share of games. I have to play faster! :))

Ubisoft learned something from the horrendous price asked for ZombiU, I believe it was 69,99€? Rayman is reasonable priced, but I won't buy it just yet, there are better games out there at the moment. Sorry Ubi, you could've released half a year ago and every Wii U owner would have jumped on it.

Thanks god it's nw 25€. I'll download it sometime now.

gotta admit that I will wait for rayman to hit the bargain bin.

It will drop in retail quick if we history tells us anything about rayman games.

I never wanted Rayman, i think 2d plataformers are smaller games and therefore they should be sold on the the eshop for a cheaper price.

I really don't like people who think like you do. :(

The thinking that a game is worth less because it is presented on a two-dimensional plane is completely irrational and nonsensical.

Damn, if I knew Rayman was only 45 euros, I wouldn't have gotten Giana Sisters for 15 euros. But now I have enough 2D platforming for a while...

I also said, back in 2009: "Nobody will buy New Super Mario Bros Wii because 2d plataformers are stupid" :)

Ive made some wrong preditctions in my life, but this was probably the biggest one

So DKC:TF for 19.99 USD?

I could buy it for this price. But for 60$? Never.

I really dont think much of 2d plataformers, im sorry. I could buy one, NewMarioWiiU or Luigi Bros or Donkey Kong for $20. But really, no more than that.

On the other hand, Mario 3D world looks amazing to me. Because its a multiplayer 3d plataformer. And that is something you dont see everyday (but im only paying 60$ on it if nintendo makes some sort of promotion)

Are you from 1998, cacildo? Just wondering because your posts remind me a lot of the "why would you want that icky old sidescroller stuff now, 3D is the wave of the future!" that permeated that era.

But if you don't like 2D platformers in general, why would you even buy them for $20 or $5 or anything?
