Skylanders: Swap Force
Watch Dogs

wait half a year after ps4 comes out then compare cause there is still annoucements to be made and there are high end multiplatform games that won't even support the wii U.

This is no news...
If he said: PS4 & Xbox One have awesome games, that would be new.

A President of a company says the competitions is meh... Wow, go figures.

I think he's getting too much of a pass on this. He is insulting 3rd party developers and publishers here. I don't see Sony and MS execs do this because they actually care about 3rd party support. In fact even recently when The Last of Us came out I saw a lot MS execs and PR people congratulating Naughty Dog on the success and sales numbers. Nintendo's dismissive attitude of the whole industry is one aspect of their long standing problems.

Again I think it's funny that he said "meh" and has personality, but I don't think his attitude is really conducive to fixing Nintendo's problems.

The WiiU should be worried about upcoming hardware - absolutely. But it should also be worried about current gen hardware as well. Let's not forget that GTAV is coming out in a few weeks - a game that won't be gracing the WiiU.

Nintendo has a lot of problems. Next gen hardware is just one.

In what way or fashion does the WiiU Game Pad count as an implementation of cloud computing? Is he getting his marketing buzzwords jumbled? The Game Pad streams video data six feet to a 480p display. It doesn't interface with a persistent network of servers to offload computational needs and storage.

Nintendo TVii, it's a streaming delivery service or some shit. Displays data or something.

I suspect if you asked for clarification, he would be talking about the exclusive games.

And really, Reggie has very little say in Nintendo's problems or solutions.

Haha, IPs that are still around 30 years due to their popularity and sheer quality.

How many 30 year old IPs does Sony or Microsoft have, that are still very successfull to this day?

The salt in this thread is awesome :)

It would be like Disney making a new Mickey Mouse movie every single year and not doing anything else since his creation. They evolved. Nintendo is not. It will be their downfall.

Sony made a video mocking DRM of Xbox One, if this isn't a dismissive attitude, I don't know what is.

To be fair the Xbox One and PS4 lineups are pretty boring, but so were the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360's. The Wii U on the other hand has had an entire year of shit.

The only game I picked up at launch for Wii U was Zombie U, which I did enjoy.

At launch on PS4 I'm locked in for Killzone Shadowfall, Knack, Driveclub, COD Ghosts, Battlefield 4 and Watch Dogs.

A pretty massive launch from my perspective Mr. Reggie.

Yeah some of the initial reaction to Bayo 2 was a shame. The game wouldn't exist without Nintendo.

It might not have existed at this point, but were they going to scrap it forever if they couldn't make it in the next year or two?

I'm mad at MS and Sony for not jumping on it. Neither has an action game from the genre anytime in the near future. Seems like something MS would have needed in Japan.

I honestly don't care what Reggie's opinion is, or anyone's for that matter. Who cares? God. Just let me play the games

Let's be conservative and say Nintendo is at 5 million units by Q1 2014. You honestly think Sony is going to sell 5 million PS4s in 4 months? I seriously doubt it.

Sony probably plans to ship 5 million by March, that much is certain. Remember, Nintendo's original projection for Wii U was 5.5 million by March 2013.

if multiplatform launch games like codblops2 , tekken, batman etc didnt count for wiiu then they shouldnt count for ps4/xbone

He probably cringed inside as he said it.

Maybe, maybe not. I wouldn't have, if I was in his place.

Very same problem that switched me over to the PS years ago when I realized Mario and the gang reduxed to hell and back are as good as it's ever going to get.

I'm guessing you made your switch before Mario Galaxy, NSMB Wii, and Donkey Kong Country Returns came out? Because to a lot of people who are into those genres, they are as good as it gets...

We got Zelda, we got Mario, we got Donkey Kong, we gonna be hearing this for 30 more years

With any luck, yeah.

People want those experiences on a next-generation platform; not a platform with the same graphical fidelity as what they're already playing right now on their 360 or PS3.

Same reason why all multiplatform games sell like garbage on Wii U. So no, they really don't count the same.

Well the WiiU better atleast have more than 20 or so games by now else it would be dead but its getting there, slowly still.

Truth of the matter and this is cold hard facts, PS4 (and XB1) long term are gonna have so much more software than Nintendo could wish for. Everything from new IPs, returning franchises, indie support, F2P games. This is what sells me on those consoles. Nintendo as long as it lacks solid 3rd party support, I aint buying their shit. Again. These are facts, you cant spin this. So dont take this post as being biased or trying to attack you.

Your second point is incorrect. Yea we the hardcore love specs and fancy graphics. But that doesnt mean shit if you have no software. Software is king. So we love games, games and more games. What does Nintendo bring to the table? Nintendo 1st party games and.... thats all. What does Sony/MS bring? New IPs, old IPs, new content, new experiences, great indie support and F2P games ala Planetside 2. When Nintendo does all that with great hardware, come back to me.

For the the first point I agree with much of what you're saying but a lot of it deals with stuff coming out after 2013. My original post was focused on games available in 2013.

The second point isn't a system wars thing. I've seen numerous posts from people saying they're moving on from their PS3 to the PS4 because their sick of the current gen. Gotta get dat new tech.

wonderful 101's failure will hardly encourage nintendo to work on new IP

Didn't get the same treatment that an original, first party, Miyamoto adventure IP would.

Nintendo's just the publisher. I want to see a new Ninty-developed "adventure" IP, cause we haven't had one in twelve years.

How about... Not dishing the games on the competitor's platforms, and instead just praise the ones they have?

Do Sony and MS go around calling Wii U lineup "meh"???
I don't know about you guys, but I equate "meh" to "not good, not bad". It sounds more like indifference than anything else and I don't see anything wrong with that. It's not like he called them outright crap. He was asked about how his console would fare directly against the competitors' launches, and he commented on the competitors' launches. Again, I don't attach a major negative connotation to the word he used.

Liar, liar double standard!

I don't know, it could have potentially come in the future, but the point is neither Sony or Microsoft felt they needed it - Bayonetta didn't exactly set the sales world on fire, which is why a company like Nintendo needed to be there to allow the sequel to be made in the first place.

I don't know why people are complaining about this. The game was never successful enough to receive a true next-gen sequel; the budget would likely not be worth it. Instead, they're trading up amongst the current gen hardware ecosystem that they're familiar with and delivering an amazing Bayo experience that everyone gets to enjoy at some point.

I seriously don't get why people are not simply happy Nintendo picked them up, versus being mad Sony and Microsoft didn't pick it up, or being sad the game doesn't exist anywhere.

I'm not trying to absolve Nintendo from criticism - nobody has complained about their franchise whoring more than me, especially in the face of two platforms investing huge funds into brand new hardcore IPs with massive budgets on top of the classics. Nintendo really needs to be driving the conversation with their own internal studios. X is a good example of what there should be a lot more of from within Nintendo. There simply isn't enough of that yet, and there is simply too much damned Mario and other Nintendo IPs. In my opinion.

if multiplatform launch games like codblops2 , tekken, batman etc didnt count for wiiu then they shouldnt count for ps4/xbone

The only reason they "didn't count" is they were at best identical or at worst gimped compared to the PS360 versions of the same games. So no one bought the Wii U to play those games, and Nintendo gamers interested in Mario/Nintendoland didn't buy them because ________.

The PS4/One don't have that problem, especially for games like FIFA and Battlefield.

Let me be real for a second: The Wii U actually does have the more interesting lineup of games you can't get anywhere else in my opinion.

Maybe that's just because I don't give a shit about most of what's launching with PS4 and Xbox One.

Pikmin 3 is seemingly the last must-have title for the year on the Wii U, for me. I want to want the new Mario, but I really don't, and it's a little depressing.

Next-gen boxes aren't any more interesting though, save Dead Rising 3.

PC, PS3 and 3DS, for me.
