Consumers to Wii-U: "LOL"
I don't even know the most of your listed games.
Not sure if it says more about Nintendo or me.
Dude, I get what your saying and all, but this is the internet brah... Dudebro's don;t play Wii's and you can clearly see the divide between the console junkies here and everywhere.

Unfortunately, I outgrew most Nin. IPs and don't find them interesting anymore. I have two Wii's in my house that have become dust magnets, I have about 3 GBAs, 3 GB SPs, 2 DSi's and 3 DS's in my house. I bought a VITA instead of a 3DS and love the thing and may buy a 3DS soon as well just to play jrpgs again because there are none on VITA that I haven't played yet (not talking about PSP/PS1 titles.) So with that being said, if their software line-up was intriguing and they got a ton of console jrpgs, I might bite just for the off-screen gameplay alone, however, as it stands, I can do that on my VITA and there are no polorizing titles on Wii-U for me to pick one up.
Oh and KZ:Shadowfall looks amazing, KI is a joke of a FTP game, Forza and Driveclub both look like fun as well even though I;m not bg into racers...
How can anyone agree with him when he compares it against the Wii U? It's as if we have forgotten how barren their launch was. How the hell can you compare your fall lineup now after 1 whole year of nothing to next gen consoles that will have both AAA games and many indie titles along with F2P games to tide them over? Seriously?
Reggie, you are Dismissed
Ugh, Jesu Christo. Absolutely not. Don't tell me you're one of those filthy C++ casuals?Wow, i guess i'm not a footballer then, since i don't play in the highest of leagues. And also, not a game developer, since i make my living making small casual games. Come to think of it, i'm not even a programmer, since i don't code in C sharp ;(((((
Am i even human ?
What leads you to that conclusion? Have we ever had any reason to believe it's not Yoshida making those tweets? Is it not really Kamiya then on his? Why won't you give the benefit of the doubt, especially with literally no evidence to the contrary? That account more than likely has multiple people watching over it to make sure pr is maintained. I doubt Yoshida has time for a twitter.
That makes more sense in the context of what you're saying. Gamer is a very broad term that arguably means "a person that plays games." If you want to specifically discuss hardcore gamers, add that distinction in to your posts for clarity's sake.Ok, the problem here is maybe the definition of gamer. I'm not an english native speaker, and where I live when we use the term "gamer" is to describe hardcore gamers.
If that's not the meaning a native english speaker uses, then what I mean instead of "not being a gamer" is "not being a hardcore gamer" but a casual. That's all, and this is why I said that there's nothing wrong in enjoying with the cinematic experiences instead of enjoying with the game mechanics.
It's not worse, it's simply a casual view to the industry. That's all.

Not at all. It's not about the tastes, I don't like basketball games but that doesn't mean that someone is a casual because he likes them. It's still pretty condescending to call someone with different tastes to you a casual.
That's the traditional meaning, and that's because when games where mostly games, people who enjoyed them were also people that mastered it's mechanics. Ones who were interested in Pac-man were interested on being better with the game, not on how beautiful was that yellow dot.SymbolicGamer said:Hardcore gamers are people who are passionate about the games. They're dedicated. Casual gamers are people who play games, but aren't fanatical about them.
They may have been developed by second parties, but they are all new Nintendo owned IPs.
Nintendo created and offered new IPs, among which you can find those listed.
If some is second party or funded by N to a developer, doesn't count?
those are all Nintendo IPs, that they funded (so they gave money to a developer to develop those games) and offered to the costumers owners of their consoles, exclusively (being THEIR IPs)
Not at all. It's not about the tastes, I don't like basketball games but that doesn't mean that someone is a casual because he likes them.
But if someone plays videogames because he enjoys the beautiful CGI and doesn't like complex mechanichs... then of course he is a casual.
Or are you being condescending calling my grandma a casual because she plays videogames in order to beat sudokus?
Anyone else kind of feel bad for the guy? Well except for the part where he makes something like 10 times my salary. It's not like he makes any significant hardware or software decisions.
If you're going into published territory, Nintendo looks even worse compared to the competition (Microsoft and Sony), that's all. Honestly, there's not much to discuss. Nintendo is a company that relies heavily on old IPs and characters. The other two companies have a much better track record of creating new franchises.
Should have been the first rresponse.
Srsly tho, I'm not saying Reggie is correct (how can he be, it's subjective) but I don't see why so many are getting so defensive and launching into an attack on WiiU instead of discussing why they think he's wrong.
this holiday is gonna be somewhat interesting imo. Wii U does have a fair amount of exclusive stuff.
xbone/ps4 have pretty decent lineup's but the 'meh' for me is that most of the games are also on current gen and pc.
"We’ve got Zelda. We’ve got Mario. We’ve got Donkey Kong."
Go back 20 years and you'll hear the same thing.
I have been gaming for 20 years, I have at least some idea. Microsoft has been the one to push the dudebro agenda big time because obviously that's what sells here. We love our crap, and crap they shall give.
Sony gets many of those games, but it also pushes for a wider diversity of content, especially exclusive content. Microsoft's first party content, what little is there, tends to lean towards the grey brown kill people crowd.
This from a guy who's first console of the previous generation was a 360 (which at it's launch had a much much better diversity of games, some of which were *gasp*, single player!) And then I bought a wii and then a ps3 last due to cost. That being said I would say a large portion of the second half of the 360/ps3/wii era was pretty garbage (some amazing wii and ps3 exclusives aside, and not counting portables here which are killin it). The grey brown AAA dudebro DLC fest seems to be smoothly going into this next generation which is a shame. At least nintendo is still trying to make *gamey* games. Out of all the consoles at the moment the Wii U looks the most promising in the near term, with ps4 next in line and the dudebro box a distant third (although I amj likely to get that at some point as well).
"Weve got Zelda. Weve got Mario. Weve got Donkey Kong."
Go back 20 years and you'll hear the same thing.
Reggie what would you call WiiUs launch lineup? Thats right, WiiU wasted an entire year waiting for the heavy hitters and they'll only slowly start to come out.

Someone that has played every single Final Fantasy because of the story, of course, is not interested on playing but on READING.Not how it works....
You are a casual because you play casually, has nothing to do with how you play everything to do with how much you play.
If someone has played every single Final Fantasy just for the story but didnt understand the deep mechanics at all that doesnt make someone casual.
Edit:
Although within each genre you can be casual despite playing a lot of it, like i play fighting games a lot, probably would consider myself good at them. but im casual in that i dont play that competitively.
I was referring to the blanket statement of someone being casual.
I am honestly SHOCKED at his arrogance. He just insulted the biggest games by EA, Activision, Ubisoft, Sony and MS. No wonder why wii U has minimal third party support.
Still completely off the mark.
Lets go through microsofts current first party lineup shall we?
Killer instinct - colorful FTP fighting game
Crimson dragon - colorful rail shooter ala panzer dragoon.
Dead Rising 3 - dark comedic zombie action game
Forza - sim style racer
Ryse - likely utter crap and deserves scorn but not a grey/brown shooter.
And while they are the pioneers of present day first person shooters thanks to halo. Halo is arguably one of the most colorful and saturated shooters in the genre.
You are right about the DLC crap though. Honestly it feels weird defending Microsoft here. Seeing as the 360 was my primary console but after the crap they pulled with always on I have a ps4 preordered and no plans right now to get a new Xbox.
With that said though your hyperbole and overstatements about Microsoft borders on delusion. Microsoft may have been horrendous when it came to managing first party studios( cough, rare, cough) and bad for the industry in many ways(also brought some good things too) but to say it just pushed out grey/brown shooters is waaaayy off the mark. I further implore you to actually go look at the list of 360 exclusives and first party Microsoft games coming up and previously and then come back here and tell me they are all grey/brown shooters.
Well he's kinda right. With all the games released on the Wii U this past year, they have the biggest library this holiday season. On top of that, Nintendo are releasing just as many new exclusives (if not more) as Sony and Microsoft.
Just off the top of my head, I've tried to write up a little rundown on the games that you could consider valid arguments for buying the system. I'm considering titles that one system has over the other two an exclusive for the purpose of direct comparison. Aside from these, there are multiplatform games from 3 major publishers: Activision, EA and Ubisoft, and a few smaller ones. Underlined games are coming to the Wii U as well as PS3 and XBox 360, but not the PS4 nor XBox One. I'm trying not to forget anything important, but I'll admit to a certain degree of bias when it comes to the games I know about. I hope you can forgive me if I forget anything.

Tallying this leaves me with the following result:
* The XBox One library counts 17 relevant games this holiday season, 4 of which you can't get on either of the other two systems.
* The PS4 library counts 16 relevant games this holiday season, 3 of which you can't get on either of the other two systems.
* The Wii U library counts 28 relevant games this holiday season, 20 of which you can't get on either of the other two systems.
As mentioned above, I'm sorry if I've forgotten anything. In light of what I know, the Wii U has the strongest lineup this fall (mostly because of the games that came out over the last year, but if you haven't bought the system yet, those are equally new to you).
Oh, and sorry for the long post![]()
When next gen's library basically boils down to the same shooters, sports, racing, and gritty open world games that have comprised the bulk of current gen titles to the point of gluttony, and indie games which more often than not amount to little more than abstract tech demos with experimental, finite gameplay, he has a point. But sadly, this is the only direction next gen can go in. And if Reggie was working for Sony or MS, I'm sure he'd be championing those genres and mocking Wii U mercilessly.
We’ve got Zelda. We’ve got Mario. We’ve got Donkey Kong. In addition to great titles like Pikmin 3 and Wonderful 101...

Lists that bring things into perspective
Many would say I hit the target, I certainly don't expect everyone to think I did.
Killer instinct is a shell of its former self, and lacks all the character of the originals and is not a full retail release but some weirdop hybrid f2p/demo nickel and dime "game".
Crimson Dragon I am aware of and will gladly get when it comes out, which won't be launch.
Forza is a racing sim, both have these, and they are ok I guess?
Dead Rising 3 lost much of it's charm from the original from what I and many others have deduced. It used to be a far more colorful game, and instead looks like "another zombie game", again, I guess that's ok? Kinda luke warm to me and many others.
Ryse is a clearly a grey brown QTE stinker, no need to go further.
Crimson Dragon is the closest "gamey" colorful different game you mentioned and that isn't coming out for awhile. We agree on DLC. I think Games should be complete experiences on a disc that you own, with content that is unlocked. I am all for meaty physical release "expansions" though. As for grey brown shooters, that is there bread and butter, and can be expected to be so going forward. You can even take the word shooter out, and your still left with drab bland (any yes, grey brown) looking western garbage. That's just how it is. Gamers tastes have gotten a lot worse over the years, and MS has spearheaded by far more abhorrent practices than anything good.
(I believe they have the best gamepad however, and really innovated on that front)
Someone could say the same thing about Nintendo games. The same Zelda formulas, another Mario platformer, Mario Karts, Mario Parties, etc. And I think it's nuts to call indie games we're seeing today "abstract tech demos". Ridiculous. There is more than enough variety in the PS4/Xbox One library for gamers of all types.
Zelda, Donkey Kong, Mario... In other news McDonalds has confirmed that they are in the hamburger business.
That he would mention Wonderful even as the company sent it out to die is actually despicable.
I bought a Wii U at launch. There was about 2 or 3 games actually worth playing on it. PS4/XBO's launch titles might be 'meh' but at least there's a bunch more somewhat worth playing.
Look another forgetting that the last DKC was on SNES(14 years) before DCKR came out in 2010. Now the next DCK comes out 3 years later.
Also WWHD is an HD remake. I believe Nintendo's first HD remake. How many HD remakes has Sony made? dozens?
The true Zelda is not out yet nor has it been seen. How can you say it is the same formula?
