Nintendo Downloads - August 2013

So it's a port of a port....porteption? Kind of weird they went with the LoZ Collector's Edition version, though I guess that probably was the easiest version/port of the game they could work it.

If I'm not mistaken, when Zelda 1 first released on Wii VC back in 2006, they took the GCN (GBA in Japan) version, which already had its own changes to the original game, and modified it, like how they did with games like Super Mario RPG or more recently EarthBound. The Wii U VC version is the modified Wii VC version and not a straight port of an older release.

So I guess we can expect the slightly updated intro text in Legend of Zelda, where it replaces "Gannon" with the correct "Ganon".

bit.trip saga for $4.99 is quite a dealio

I keep resisting it because I already have the Wii compilation, but this might be my breaking point.

I didn't want to make a new topic about this but I'm having an issue with playing Splinter Cell online.... I can only hear other players in multiplayer coming from the tv and not through my headphones. I had this same issue with Black Ops 2. I read that iPhone and inline mics headphones should work so what's the issue?

The only way to get voices through headphones is to play in off-tv mode.

Probably, but I always prefered Gannon, since that's what i grew up with it. But I am still very happy to finally play my favorite game of all time on the game pad. And for 1 dollar! :D

Feel free to shoot if this has already been mentioned, but according to to Nintendo Japan's website, next week Japan is getting Twinbee for the NES and Legend of the Mystical Ninja for the SNES for Wii U Virtual Console. Look's like Konami is finally on board! Maybe this means we can hope for a Castlavania promotion around Holloween.

I wonder if we will ever get the Square games on the Wii U VC. Right now, they only have two games in Japan; none in the West.

It's not even funny how much I despise Square's business practices these days. I really can't say it often enough.

Seen it on twitter, not sure if it was mentioned here.

Definitely great news. I hope once N64 VC launches, Wii U is finally able to provide a base that deal with emulating Harvest Moon 64 and the Goemon 64 games! Need those!

They aren't fixed, still tons of slowdown in runner, even in 2d :(

Is there? I finished Runner before the update came out and I haven't checked every level since then, but I did check level 1-11 after the update came out (which was particularly bad beforehand), and the crippling slowdown seemed to be fixed for that particular level.

I think it's normally noon, but can't remember if that's EST or PST. So I guess that doesn't really help :(

It's usually EST.

I went ahead and picked up a Rumble U code from Gamestop this morning. Neither clerk knew about the Kyurem figures, despite the signage sitting at the register. But they did give me one of the capsule toys for free. I grabbed another two. I got Mew, Mewtwo, and Genesect.

Just downloading it as we speak.

Edit: The price should be $17.99 on the eShop as well. That's what Nintendo's press releases indicated at least.

In light of the GTAV PSN debacle, I get publishers not wanting to let preloads happen.. But what just occurred to me is why doesn't Nintendo let you pre-order eShop titles and then use Spotpass to download those titles at midnight on launch day (or whenever). Man, I would love that!

Ironically I only need 30¢ spent to get my next $5 voucher. I was hoping for a $1 Wii U VC upgrade, but sadly I don't think I actually bought Zelda on Wii VC because of the GCN collection disc.

Because their current system is basic as hell. Everything was rushed. When even adding "gifting" to the eShop takes forever (there have been rumblings since early this year and we still don't have a feature back that already existed on the Wii Shop) you should expect that they are aware of all the cool things they could be doing, they just need a long ass time to actually do them.

The further you get into the game the worse it gets. It's not unplayable, but a really poor quality port... maybe the slowdown is better than it used to be(?), but it's really awful in the later half of the second worlds and I gave up in disgust in the early third worlds.

Was a reason ever given as to why it's been delayed? Cause it been out on 360 and PSN for what feels like for ever (well long enough for their on-line communties to dry up!)

Nintendo found too many bugs and sent it back to them to fix. That's why the WiiU version is taking so long.

I second that. They should really implement this. But i guess they have another 1000 other things to implement first...
