Don't fool around. What the other poster meant: Did he pay 500 dollars or whats equal to the 500 dollars of the xbone in your local currency for it. Your girlfriends don't earn dollars, they earn euros.

I'm not saying there aren't people who'll find the proposition attractive(the sales of the first kinect attest to that), but I don't think it'll be as big a driving force behind the XBOne as some of you hope it will.

Cyberheater, my main console was the Xbox360 most of the time.
That shouldn't change. Then, the XBone reveal happened.
MS pissed me off to no end and offended me as a Xbox fan, gamer and consumer.
(I already wrote a longer post regarding that, a few weeks ago).
Even after a few 180's later, they're dead to me. I'm a PS4/PC/WiiU only gamer now (for next gen) and I haven't forgotten. A lot what they do and some of their PR suits out there are still pissing me off.
So I know what you mean, but it's not like I'm entering a thread, posting "lulz Xbox suxx" and leave. We had a discussion here with the "casuals will buy a 500$ system for Kinect". Well, and I disagree. So I'm not "shiting" onto the XBone. I simply disagree.

Guess we'll have to wait and see. One console might be 'better' for games. But the other is better at everything else. That might just be enough for most consumers.

Its very simple to understand. The original poster meant 500 euros, he didn't know your currency is euro. If you were to live in America you would say 350 dollars and thats not the same as 500 dollars. Neither is 350 euros the same as 500 euros.

MS has shown off Kinect Sports 2 and Project Spark at the must recent trade show. The stuff they're doing with Spark (custom user mo cap and voice acting) obviously can't be implemented without a similar fidelity device.

Uuuhhh no shit. Hey man if I trade in my PS3 and games, I can probably get anything at Gamestop for free. What sort of logic is this? Its 499 Euros in literally every European market.
If Gamestop = EB Games, its got to do with level up points. They've got some membership program, which I have no idea what it does, where you get experience points for doing preorders and other crap. They're carrots because EB Games likes rabbits for some reason.

You need to trade in 3 games to get that 100 discount. Not any game, apparently.
The point I am trying to make is casuals (and lots of other people) don't see them 'a completely separate value proposition' . They are devices that play games and do few other things. They fall into same category regardless of logo and package.
And preorder numbers, even though skewed towards hardcore population for now, seem to confirm my thinking.
Unless PS4 is so much better value proposition in terms of games and additional services it provides.

I do know how you feel. My main console is the Xbox 360 although I have them all including a gaming PC. MS have managed to hack me off as well. Here is my list:-
* The performance. I can't believe they did give it a better GPU. PS4 is going to out perform them for the entire generation.
* The DRM thing. Even though they 180'd on it.
The final straw for me was the pricing. £429 for a console is just insane. My next console is going to be a PS4 and I'm going to only have one next gen console (excluding the WiiU I already have).
I really don't know where I'm going to put them all.
