couple things

players with shitty attitudes, as unfortunate as it is, tend to make up the majority of end game players i find. i've been through almost all the major mmo's and found this to be true in all of them with the exception of EVE, and that's probably because the grumpy players don't talk, just hop in, kill you and leave.

it's refreshing to see some of you guys (Labor, im looking at you) talking about being nice to people in an mmo. i usually try to guild up with nice folks early in the game so i dont have to deal with the assholes later, but even still it's usually unavoidable.

You won't get level 10 nodes showing up at level 5. They'll pop at Lv 6. Same goes for every node from here on out. Move to the next zone when you are at NodeLevel+1. You'll claw your eyes out if you try a Level 20 gather at Lv16 though. Use your Gathering Log. Try to keep to no more than two levels below the item you're targeting. Even this will be pretty brutal. Keep your gear up to date. Indulge in Leves.

thanks

Some more Thanalan screens. I'm sure there's been a ton of Thanalan screens.

After 3 hours of Titan and we weren't able to kill the heart. Always lacking dps either because of having 3 healers in some runs, or because not everyone survived the aoes during it with just 2 whms.

So close to the relic and Bahamut, but yet so far.

Lol this game makes me lose my connection? Whenever I play it after like 10-15 mins it does disconnect, it's like I completely lose the router signal. I know it's crazy, but if I don't play it my connection works flawlessly... how is that even possible?

I am getting a lot of 90000 since the maintenance

Just OOC, how much time would it take to reach level 99 now?

I was 75 back in the days, but lost my character. I'm mostly just interested in playing the CoP/Treasures/Goddess/etc. storylines, which I missed.

But I don't want to have to go through a tedious grind.
I will have to defer to those FFXI players who stuck with it -- I simply don't know. If I was to hazard a guess though, I'd say you could reach Lv99 with two weeks of intense play with a linkshell who was willing to carry you. Ask around, I know there's a stalwart FFXI community here on GAF.
Sounds exactly the same.

Yep. Hence my earlier post regarding my misgivings that surround FATE parties and why I'd love to see an alternative 'best' EXP gain mechanic in FF14. I don't want to neuter FATE parties. I just don't like that it's the go-to for everyone. Folks who are blessed with organised groups, or folks who want to join randoms for organised groups and meet new people, might enjoy a more effective, albeit more demanding, option.

Oh, and Riposte if you ever get a private FFXI server, please PM me. I never did get to party Lv32-35 at Purgonorgo Isle. :)

Yes but what I mean is that I really lose connection... for like 20-30s I don't receive the router signal (even though there's no problem with the connection, it's just my PC disconnecting). Is that even possible? BTW yes, I get 90000 error and I can't log in again for like 10 mins because my ghost is still inside...

what if dungeon finders implemented leaving player feedback at the end of the dungeon (like dota/lol)

players with consistent negative feedback get longer queue times/paired with other negative feedbacks etc

The only problem I have with this is where you have a group of speedrunners except one who wants to watch cutscenes and they all leave negative feedback on him for slowing them down at the end. I'd hope something like that wouldn't be common, but it's hard to say. How well does it work in dota?

I don't play enough Dota to know but it supposedly works in LoL. Players get reported, other players/people in the Tribunal review the report and decide if it's a fair report or not.

Is there any reason to finish my class hunting log when I'm at level 50 already?

You can totally hit 99 in a single day if you really want to, and it isn't your first job. That is to say, assuming that you have all the limit breaks done from a previous job. It would suck, though, and be a rather long day.

I've gotten north of 300,000xp per hour in a good alliance, and can easily solo merits at maybe 80k/hr.

So, with a view to the original question, a brand new character in FFXI, approximately how long to Lv99, assuming an accommodating LS that helped the player past general mission stuff to Lv30 and would let them leech from Lv30+? (Apologies for the off-topic.)

When I did Praetorium I was watching the cutscenes and I got yelled at by the other tank for it.

Some people in the group were "watch the cutscenes at the inn noob" and others were "some people want to see the story, its cool".

Probably a couple weeks if you were really focusing on it without being too ridiculous.

Aside from the general change in xp rate, a lot of things that used to be major impediments to progress (such as the limit break quests, and transportation overall) have seen pretty significant changes. Generally, this make them much less requiring of high level help. It's obviously still beneficial to have, but things are just easier in general, which is sort of needed with the slowly shrinking population on the servers.

Don't be subjugated by that group of individual. Watch your cutscenes. Fuck them. If you're a tank or healer, drop out afterwards and regroup. Fuck them. Call them out.

omg. titan took an hour. the tank apparently thought this was GW2 and spent the whole fight running around the arena and jumping. finally i just flat out asked him WHY he was doing this. he said he didnt want to get hit by anything. i politely explained to him that me being a DRG, its best if i can attack from the flank and behind and that with him running around i cant get any good damage in and hes risking getting the other people hit. so i told him STAY STILL. two tries later, we win.

and lets not forget the BLM, who didnt realize that the sand circle pits were gtfo areas, because according to him: "they weren't red, so i didnt know they were bad".

Man I think I prefer the boss FATE fights to the mob ones, at least with the boss ones I know I can get enough EXP, otherwise, everything dies too fast in the mob ones for me to do jack...or maybe it's just tougher since I'm a CNJ.

Costa De Sol is so pretty, I could see myself hanging out there more once I hit level 30.

Anyways I'm almost at 26 now, I presume the Highbridge is the spot to be until I hit 30?

Just hit 50, finished the bard quest and got my full af set

What do I do now? Should finishing the storyline be my first goal? Im caught up with my Grand company wanting me to finish the 2nd hunting log set before they'll promote me again and not quite sure what I should be working towards.

Ifrit HM and crap are after the story stuff right? I've got 150k, I see people spamming shit about relic weapons, is that a post story item?

I bolded the bit that made me smile.

Highbridge FATEs aren't frequent enough IMO...

I leveled CNJ from 26 to 30 in Costa Del Sol and it was really fast. Make sure you're in a group though, or else yeah it's really hard as a CNJ, especially if you're low-level.

Really? Hmmm, well only 20k to go to 26 and then I'll move over to Costa. Hopefully I can luck out!

Is there a somewhat easier way to get Quicktongue III other than paying 130k for two of them on the AH -_-

Sure, spiritbond equipment yourself then hope you get the convert.

Then make a crafter friend who won't charge you an arm and a leg to meld it. =)

Finally, after not being able to play all week, I was able to get on and finally get my MRD to 30 and finish that lvl 30 class quest. Think ill start gladiator tomorrow finally.
