I managed to get my Battlemage Gloves after 20+ runs of Brayflox (awesome Summoner Ilyana Asuna let me have them)! I even reached level 45 in the mean time, and many of those levels from 36 upward came from Brayflox runs.
If there is one thing I've learned from running Brayflox so much is that the majority of Paladins (I got from the Duty Finder) are shit while the majority of Warriors (I got from the Duty Finder) are awesome. I don't know how it is possible that the class/job with what I consider the easier to use aoe aggro skill can manage to make me tank every single add in the first boss fight of Brayflox, while the Warriors at most let me get 1 or 2 hits. So, long live the Warriors!

LMFAO at whoever voiced Y'Shtola.

"PRAY! FORGIVE US OUR DELAY!"

In fact, lmfao at all the voice actors. I've seen pornos with better acting than this.

Honestly it's very strange. It's way worse than FFXI and even worse than WoW and that takes a lot.

I don't understand why.

It happens with every new community. It takes a while for an MMO virtual society to stabilise when you have some trying to grind their way through the game, get level 50, and move on to the next popular MMO.

Edit: So if you're a CNJ, you pretty much have to get into a group to farm fates or you wont get much right?

Can I ask why? I don't know anything about MMO culture. Would be interested in hearing.

I wish I knew why. Random people are just being very rude and elitist in this game. I'm not sure if log in problems got them frustrated or what but there seem to be a lot of dickheads...at least on Ultros.

I don’t know how much the rest of you know about MMO culture (I’m an expert), but most of these problem people with be gone in 30 days.

They are just people running around with Doom 30 days over their head and want to get everything done before their sub runs out.
I hope!

I've never played an MMO before and I'm skimming this thread because I'm thinking about jumping into this game when it hits PS4.

What's so bad about the current FF14 community??

I guess it depends on level, and the type of FATE. Surely in a group you're assured the gold, but I've been managing to get gold solo on the FATEs I've took part in just by throwing out as many Regens as I could on people. It doesn't always works though, because it's also important that people are taking some damage, but if you don't have a group, it's a way to do it. I've been told Holy rocks at 45, but I have ye to get the quest for it.

Elitists, or people who think they are better than others. Calling people noobs, yelling at people in groups for it being their first time.

Granted I have rarely run into any of this, but I turned off /shout a long time ago.

I'm around level 22. So I should just follow, medica, aero for a few hours?

FFXIV shares a similar issue with most MMO's actually.

These games have group content that relies heavily on three job priorities for success. If there is a sign of weakness in performing one of those roles(well...mostly just the tank, arguably the most critical role in co-op), then it sours everyone's experience, wastes precious game time, and can really elicit some of the worst reactionary vitriol in gaming. FFXIV actually tries to do some hefty tutorial-izing for these roles before the proper dungeons show up, but you are still dependent on others...anonymous strangers which in itself is a risky proposition. It's the nature of MMO's that utilize the holy trinity of Tank, healer, and DPS for content. Fantastic at its best, savage at its worst.

I tend to try and be helpful though, especially for new players, but I've seen some less patient players pop a few veins when group synergy goes south...

Hmm. Gonna HAVE to get with some GAFers if I jump in. I know literally nothing about the genre, not even basic lingo.

These savages! I'm just trying to pass through...

/shout is amazing. It's great for chatting. I've made three friends just starting random conversations in chat.

For example, this guy was named after a Tales character and shouted LFG Fates. We then talked in shout chat for a good hour about the Tales games.

Shout is awesome.

If only you could have been on XI Jeuno shout chats.

How the hell do you make money crafting? Something I've never learned.

Seems like everyone and their mom is a miner/BSM. Nothing is worth anything other than relic items.

I'm taking a slight break tonight, but will jump back in tomorrow. If all goes as planned I should [hopefully] level my THM to 30, then Archer to 15, and then become a BLM.

We'll see how things go...

I'm still holding on to my Digital CE Preorder from GMG.
Don't think I'll be activating now as I won't be able to commit much time to it

Will I be missing out on anything?
like the trial compensation or something?

Apparently there will be an additional 7-day trial extension to people due to the errors we received at launch, but beyond that we don't know much else. We don't have a date to which this will come into effect, but many are estimating September 9th.

BTW PM sent regarding something. Feel free to delete/whatever should you not find interest in it. :)

They said you have to have activated your code by the 9th the get the free extra week. They said the week would be added after the maintenance was done earlier this week. My extra time is already in my account.

Details here.

If you think flash is an easier, or better, AE taunt you don't understand the skill. Flash basically sucks at grabbing threat. The reason why Warriors in pugs are better is because they are actually easier to play in pugs because they have actual damaging skills that do threat. The only AE skill that Paladins get is Flash...everything else is single target. Holding on to multiple target threat is far easier on a Warrior than a Paladin.

You can make a ton of money gathering. But you can also make a lot selling mid level gear right now. I made 80k selling stuff overnight. Not sure if that's alot but it took like 10 minutes to craft it
