No PC copies here at Best Buy, but they do have PS3 copies. Gonna check another store.

Yeah, many stores around me are selling the PS3 version for some reason. I have no idea why PC/digital sales were stopped. They all use the same servers. Surely they will start selling again, they are losing sells by not allowing people to buy the PC version.

The Eruption stunning is very hard to do without a dedicated PLD, even with perfect execution you can still mess it up and the whole party wipes.

The AoE LB makes killing the nails dramatically easier.

In a PUG, where the odds are already stacked against you, I don't see any good reason why you wouldn't leave an Ifrit HM if you didn't have these things. Wasting time wiping over and over again benefits no one.

I agree with the no PLD for stuns, melee LB ain't that bad though. LB3 the back one, focus DPS two down, LB2 the last one. Easy, done that before with pugs, never got through without a PLD though.

Sorry for asking, but does anyone have a Buddy Pass from the Original Final Fantasy 14? I have a friend who wants to play, but the game is sold out everywhere.

Having to grind FATEs for like 4-5 levels straight is so freaking boring.

That and being in ugly Northern Thanalan is melting my brain. lol

I gotta disagree with nearly everyone. I love FATE grinding. I just hit 50 WHM yesterday, and today I'm already at 20 ARC going towards BRD. I love the shooting the shit, finding areas to milk out some extra EXP, etc. It's like mini-raids, really.

Most have to realize that FATEs will become your mainstay leveling mechanic for any job after your first if use up all your main mission storyline and side-quests on your first job

I don't get it how some of you find it so boring

I enjoy the hell out of it, it's always like a chase to get XP and get seals

My mindset is get there ASAP, get that XP ASAP, get party members to hit gold so they enjoy the benefits

I'm going after that level 50 crown, will take me a while, but I will get there

Always be in party, say/yell/shout near where the group of people gather for rest/sanctuary, and join and go at it

Most don't realize, you get extra XP by killing mobs of FATE, if your party members kill them, even if you didn't do jack shit, you will get rewarded the XP and chain #
In the end, you'll also get rewarded the bonus chunk of XP and reward of seals if you get bronze/silver/gold

Some say Return of the King FATE Costa del Sol (huge bomb on the beach) FATE doesn't give you much bonus XP, this is true, but for close to 10 minutes you annihilate so many bombs, your screen should be pure yellow #'s of experience

Always party up, light party or full party, add randoms if you have too
Join other peoples party, the end goal is the same, get as much XP as possible
Learn the FATE system of what the FATE requires, the faster you learn, the better for you
Gathering cores/boxes/parts for FATES can be beneficial 2 ways some can kill the mobs, and the others collect, killing mobs nets you XP for party, while say a WHM or SMN can go gather their items rather than try to fight it out
Learning FATE objectives is the key to produce efficient XP gain

Learn the name of FATE, it's objective, and location
Pop the map, see which on it is and just go after it

I mostly know 95% of the FATEs in this game now and their mechanics, the ones I'm missing are in those areas where most don't venture or the very low level ones in areas where I didn't start out (starter cities)

My male Roe is named Goodies
My female Miq is named Chesty

I'm with you, Grave. I enjoy the hell out of it. I started at 30 in Costa Del Sol and went all the way through, basically. 5 levels at a time, catching up on story, then 5 more levels. From 42 on I just went straight FATEs though.

I've made a ton of friends doing it, and to me it's way better than doing fetch quest number 327 solo.

Think im going to use all 90 remaining leavquests from carpenter 40 to 50 using that quest and normal walnut logs. I will have about 3700 logs by the time I hit 40. good or bad idea?

Made a point of setting up the One-Time Password. I wasn't at all worried before, but it's reassuring to know it's done. For all the time it takes, I'd say there's no reason for anyone not to.

Question: Can the appearance of retainers be altered, or do I have to dismiss then re-hire?

I hope they keep adding more areas, I feel a tad sad considering I've explored almost every area I can (Except for the really high level area like Cortheas) and I want to explore more of this world darnit!

I think the only thing I really don't like about the game is the lack of variety in world design. Coming off Guild Wars 2 where you had huge maps with secret coves and hidden platforming sections with new areas for each level bracket, the exploration in FFXIV feels almost linear in comparison and the huge amount of backtracking makes progression a little tedious.

That's not to say I'm not still really enjoying the game, I just think the exploration/world design is a big weakness.

Anyone else playing on a plasma (PS3)? This UI is going to be seared into my screen in no time lol

I just finished up Copperbell and I'm about 4-5 levels above where I should be based on the level of the story quests I'm seeing at this point, is there any point in going back to re-do those dungeons or should I be re-doing dungeons that don't require me to level sync?

I'm playing on a Panasonic GT50. Game mode usually does enough to prevent anything serious.

SE really needs to do something about this game. It just does not run as smoothly as it should. Especially on PS3. In large, populated areas, characters just don't appear, commands are slow to react, enemies disappear, etc. I'm in the lv 40-50 range locations now, and this disappearing act is too much for me.

I don't it'll ever get smoother on PS3... But what they should definitly do is prioritize display of enemies over other players in high-congestion areas like FATE. Some times, I find the mob wave already dead by the team they're displayed on my screen :/

What level is your miner and what shards did you sell? Think I'll start mining soon - seems like a gold mine for Gil.

Level 20 miner.
Sold wind/lightning/water/fire shards.
There are spots right outside Ul'dah with all this stuff, and when you get the shard buff (triples your gain for that spot) you can rack up the monies!
It's pretty boring, but being at 21 for my battle classes, this is good money for me!

OH GAWD, Odin armor for the Chocobo is the sex:

Yes, it's infuriating. When Odin spawned the other day, there were so many players in that spot that I literally only saw him for 10 seconds out of the entire 30 minute fight. I could have helped out and we might have won, but I couldn't target him.

meh, probably not considering its his zantetsuken that kills you

I'd be happy to even get a chocobo, lol.

I've done fates, but don't think I have any seals. I just get XP an some gil, usually, not very much.

Yeah.... no one could see him. All you could see was pets and AoE spell effects. :P

I hope they open up Ultros soon. I have a 16 grd on leviathan that I'm feeling meh about.

That and purchases :( I might need to go stalk the gamestop door tomorrow morning in hopes that the clerk sells it to me before hours, the single copy that is unclaimed from pre-release.

You can't target anything that isn't visible. That includes party members, which is infuriating to me. If a party member isn't visible, even clicking on their name in the party list will fail.

lol oooh. now i get why capell was having trouble healing me when i would jump. bad decision se.
