How I Live Now, which I'm greatly anticipating, was recently picked up for US distribution by Magnolia, which is "eyeing a fall theatrical release"; meanwhile, the film has a solid UK release date of October 18th.

Woah I had no idea she was Irish. She's talented but she needs to choose better roles. She's great in everything I've seen her in but stuff like the Lovely Bones and the Host are awful movies.

I love this thread very much. And I also love JaseC for always having avatars of her, and reminding me of her awesomeness.
An MP3 of her public interview at the aforementioned Galway Film Fleadh has been uploaded to RTE's website and runs for about 53 minutes. I haven't listened to it all yet (it's late here so I'll probably save the rest for later), but at around the 18-minute mark she confirms that she has a sex scene in HILN, and coupling that with the BBFC's classification I linked to above suggests to me that it may very well also be a nude scene.

Yeah, I got a similar impression from the little I've read of the film and the stills that surfaced a little while ago. I haven't read the novel, but since there's no Aussie release date yet I should have plenty of time to get around to it.

Seconded. Beautiful. Intense. Saoirse + Neil Jordan = heaven
I agree. I liked the abrasive mother/daughter dynamic between Eleanor and Clara for the most part, and was pleasantly surprised by Gemma Arteton's performance, but the modern-day narrative just wasn't particularly interesting to me, especially in regard to the rather shallow and dull relationship between Eleanor and Frank.
My favourite scene of the film, though, is probably the conversation between Eleanor and the female teacher. Oh, and:
How I Live Now will be premiering at TIFF next month. If I was expecting this, I would have saved up for a trip ; in fact, I'd planned to go last year (it's the only public film festival that kindasorta fits around the teaching schedule of my Uni), but ultimately had to spend the money elsewhere (curse you, Christmas). Also, there's finally movement on the Mary Queen of Scots front: Susanne Bier is in talks to direct (something which I thought had already been set in stone, but apparently not), with Penelope Skinner - who also happened to write to pen the script for HILN -- and Michael Hirst assuming script duties; Working Title is aiming to begin shooting the film next year.
(Testament of Youth is as lifeless as ever -- there hasn't been a word about it since Saoirse was announced to star well over a year ago now.)

The Host is awful. I actually think, all things considered, it's her worst film overall, including her earliest stuff. I almost regret paying to see it at the cinemas.
Edit: Byzantium is decent, though. It's available via VOD in the UK already and releases on BD this month. Saoirse is great (Gemma Arteton is surprisingly good, too), and I enjoyed the mother/daughter dynamic as well as the underlying vampire mythology of the film, which is pieced together via flashbacks, but much of the plot focuses on the relationship Eleanor (Saoirse's character) develops with a teenage school boy, which is a problem as it's rather shallow and utterly uninteresting. I'd like to see Saoirse tackle another action film one day (ditto for Joe Wright -- bonus points if the two team up again for this purpose).

I've come across another one. At about the 1:45 mark she states that she's seen the trailer for Grand Budapest Hotel, so maybe Fox is planning to sneak it into theatres at the end of the year after all.
The Host is bad, real bad, but she's kind of great in it. It felt like it should've been unbearable, but she made it... not good, but watchable.
In terms of storytelling, it's basically TV-movie quality. It was like having Meryl Streep in a SyFy flick.

Atonement is one of my favorite movies ever; I was quite sad that she didn't win the Oscar for it. I thought she did a phenomenal job.
