MS buys the Xbone.com domain name

They should just embrace it and just work the hell out of it Pro-Wrestling heel style. Major Nelson should do the mall tour with an LED jacket glowing green covered with skulls with X-BONE on the back. And change the marketing from "All in One" to "X-Bone is so good it will CRUSH YOUR SKULL". Lets get some 90's Sega Marketing all up in this bitch.

Come on you guys, I call it the Xbone too, but don't act like you can't see why some would find it disrespectful: Bone, Boner, Penis, Erect Penis, Xbone, Xboner, Xerectpenis and all that jazz (or jaaz)...

But MS deserves it for coming up with such a stupid name.

They've got to embrace it and show everyone that have a sense of humor. Look at Sony. Yosp is always actin a fool on twitter, MS should be the same!

I can't believe you're still doing this. Do you not understand how silly it is? No matter what you're saying, no matter how insightful your post may be, it's always going to be completely overshadowed by your third-person crap.

My mind automatically reads his posts in an Elmo voice now.

XBone off the top rope delivering an elbow to a PS4 and glares into the camera - "PS4 just got X-Boned!"

Personally, I think it's just another version of the convergence of it's naming conventions. Because it's a bad name.
Xbox One
X Box One
X B One
XBone

The idea that a video game console (or any piece of consumer electronics) is something inherently worthy of respect is so weird.

Ok, so where is the meme?

Major Nelson September 9th: "I don't like it...it disrespects the teams that have put in thousands of hours (already) into the development of the product. Sure, it's cheeky but I don't care for it myself. "

Microsoft: Purchases the xbone.com domain name 2 days later!

In all seriousness, I dont really know what to think. Considering that "Term" or nickname is thrown around so much, Microsoft would be silly not to purchase the domain name.

You mean all those people in the committee that decided upon the name didn't see this coming?

What are they paying them big bucks for?

I don't care whether it's disrespectful.

Disrespectful is trying to sneak in extreme DRM and steal our ability to buy and sell games second hand. Disrespectful is telling us that if we happen to live or work outside the regions where MS deigns to activate games we should just buy a 360. Disrespectful is expecting everyone to forget these things ever happened when public opinion finally forces you to back down. Disrespectful is having PR goons come to feed us utter garbage about system specs and then have a huff when people call them on it.

If anything, the name isn't disrespectful enough.

How did they think all that wouldn't blow up in their face?

Your move, Nelson.

Really still hate the Xbox 1 name. Every time I hear someone say it I think first Xbox. With xbone its clear what they are talking about.

How about the "XBox buy something else if you want to express consumer choice and your dissatisfaction at a videogame console then buy it a few years down the line when it's all died down and it has games you like on it"?

Might be a bit long in the tooth though. Maybe we should run it by marketing first.

why u let them tho

Xbone is what we called it when it was a trite piece-of-shit masquerading as a video game console.

After all the 180s, I think we should call it the EnobX. "E" as in electronic, "nob" as in penis, and "X" as in "they must have been on ecstasy to think their original plan was a good idea."

When my wife and I were choosing names for our daughter, we took every potential name and ran through any scenario where her peers would be able to come up with some stupid nickname.

Microsoft has been a neglectful parent in this regard.

If you honestly feel "disrespected" over a consumer product, you need to adjust your priorities. Microsoft didn't come to your house and slap you in the face, they are trying to offer a product that they feel you will buy and would benefit their bottom line the most. There was enough uproar to make them change their minds, that's it. The resulting marketing/PR is par for the course for any company.
