Also, Fate Farming as a BLM sucks.
All I get to use is Scathe, everything else has to high a cast time to do any damage at all.
BLM has it better than most thanks to AoE spells.

How viable is this game if I just want to take my time leveling, exploring the world, and relaxing?
It's Tomestones not TOMBSTONES.
Not like we're skipping into a graveyard and picking up a poorguy's tombstone and carrying it off.
Ok. That's not what we're arguing. It's a poor implementation of the tome system and rather than fix THE problem they fix A problem. Also, stop telling others what is the 'correct' and 'intended' way to play the game.
Made a character on Ultros this morning (finally). Have five days to decide if I want to sub. Here goes!
Needs more sassy gaga gifs
Heh, so being a jerk towards other players is, "A okay?" Sorry, but thats definitively, "not," the correct way to play the game. It's an MMO, a game with a strong social component. If an individual cannot muster up a bare minimum degree of empathy and social skills, then it probably isn't the right game for them.
If you want to argue balance, argue balance, that's fine. I'm merely arguing, that a slight balance issue isn't doesn't justify much of the behavior we're seeing.
As for, "my," plan for handling the endgame, I'm merely talking for myself. If other players don't wish to go back and level additional classes, that's their own decision to make. However, the game creators have made comments that make it clear that they expect players to do this, and are acting accordingly to facilitate this.

I'm enjoying my time getting from 1 to 50, no interest in end game grinding. I don't have to justify my way of playing to anyone.
Jesus christ.
The lack of streaming world and the over reliance on teleporting kinda ruins world immersion for me. Game looks great in motion and screens, but it doesn't give me the vast open world feel of some mmos

Still no details about world transfers other than they're coming :|
enjoy your fate grinding!
No, some people like to play for loot. Why is that a problem? Some people like the rush to the end game content. Why is that a problem? And I don't see how AK and cutscenes are intertwined. If anything, keeping the AK speed run and reducing the queue time would reduce the amount of people in CM and Prae yelling at people to skip cutscenes.
Once I stopped spamming teleports everywhere (which is probably a good idea for anyone), I got over this. Actually taking the time to travel on chocoback everywhere, I'm really falling in love with the details they've shoved into practically every inch of Eorzea. It's there, you just have to take the time to look for it.

So any updates on the GAF FC? Any open spots?
Is there a way to cancel your sub before they charge you?
Anyhow, just had a quick thought, after re-reading that IGN review. Seeing as some of the speed runners are asking for MOBA features, such as vote kick options, to get rid of players that want to watch cut scenes, how likely do you think it is, that these people are members of the MOBA community, that just so happen to be moonlighting?
This isn't to disparage that community or anything, but, if these are MOBA players, a good large chunk of them are likely to disappear once they're required to sub. After all, this community is used to Free to Play, for the most part.
Any improvements on the duty finder after the patch? (for us poor DPSs I mean).

There's no real solution to that really. There just aren't enough Tanks and Healers for every DPS. It's a ratio problem, so there's not much SE can do server side to solve the problem.
All they could do, is to create Tank class mounts, to encourage more people to level up Tanks. That worked somewhat with Unicorn mounts for healers.
Well crap, I thought it was just a connectivity issue. I don't want to switch to my healer for dungeons because I don't think I'm prepared yet :/There's nothing broken there, that's a social/holy trinity issue, not a technical one.
Less people like playing tanks or healers because of the increased responsibility and, well, the fact that they aren't dpsing, so there are a lot more DPS than tanks or healers, and that makes their DF queues longer.
Make friends with tanks and healers on your server, always try to find one via FC/shout/linkshell/player search before resorting to solo queueing in DF as a dps.

So I already had an active account from the PC version that I bought when the game originally launched on PC...(ORIGINAL FFXIV, not ARR), and I just picked up a copy of the PS3 version today. Does anyone know if the free 30 days for buying a new copy carry over to an existing account?
Behemoth Pup. =o
When did you stop playing ?How viable is this game if I just want to take my time leveling, exploring the world, and relaxing?
I miss that from WoW, which became too mechanics heavy and I became too competitive in response.
Also is it even possible, or wise, to buy the game now?
I only have time to generalize, but the reality of the situation can be boiled down to Veruca Salt from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory yelling, "I want an Oompa Loompa NOW, Daddy!"
I care very little about what exploiters wanted from exploiting an experience versus the designers intent behind an experience. Yes, getting Tomestones is SUPPOSED to be slow. Even saying, "Well give us more ways to get them!" is just saying, "I want things FASTER!"
The game has been out give or take three weeks and people are mad they can't be end-game geared by the end of the first month. Call it a "slog" all you want, but just because something isn't in line with what Timmy Power-gamer wants doesn't mean its right. I'd say it puts it to the extreme opposite end of what is actually good for the longevity of an MMO.
I will say that I agree that they could provide better incentive to actually kill the trash mobs. I see this as a band-aid to stop people from burning through end-game content at ludicrous speeds. They'll monitor is and make changes accordingly. But being mad that you can't just be maxed out next week is silly.
Already a Minion.
But maybe a Pigmy Behemoth, which would work, seeing as they already have Pigmy Coeurls.

Free Company Events
It may be impossible to coordinate over 500 people's different schedules but I would still like to gauge some interest in event planning. How is everyone progressing? Will there be many new 50s this weekend? Is there any interest in setting up events to clear the remaining story dungeons (3 8-man dungeons - Westwind, Castrum Meridianum, Praetorium), Amdapor Keep (standard and speed run walk through for first timers), Wanderer's Palace (first timers), and Ifrit HM (first timers and those that have not yet obtained their weapon)?
If you haven't already, please register at neogaf.guildwork.com. If you are not a member of the Free Company yet, you will need to submit an application under the 'Recruitment' section. If you are already a member of the Free Company but haven't registered on the site, simply register an account and then link your Lodestone character to your profile. Site access will be granted based on your Free Company affiliation.
All events will be planned and scheduled through our website. You can sign up for attendance via the calendar. In the future, depending on how the drops work, for Bahamut's Coil and Crystal Tower (2.1), we may begin using the Raid Tracker to track attendance, progress, and rewards. It is important that our members start using the site instead of relying on this thread, especially since we have members that are not able to participate in the thread.

Just did some calculations. With my 12% HQ and 80% success rate, it will take me approximately...
305 mining nodes to get a single level at level 43.
Dear lord. Save me.
