This is what I don't get. They went so far as make top 8 FT5, but pools only 2/3. Should have been at least 3/5 for pools.

I'm pretty sure they've said on stream that it's time constraints, any non-exhibitors will be kicked out at 5pm their time no exceptions from the venue. I kinda doubt any other qualifiers will be like this one.

Well, honestly, single elimination 2/3 in fighting games could work only if they were perfectly balanced and there were no bad match ups. Until that, double elimination is the way to go. It's not perfect, but much less worse.

Nah even in a perfectly balanced game 2/3 is not enough. Mostly because people can rely on gimmicks to win in shorter sets or lucky guesses. Its the same way in Tennis, if it was just 2/3 points it would be the most random game ever.

Well big tournaments have qualifiers beforehand sort of like Canada Cup for the whole year until the big event. Then for the big event they have the long games and just killers. No one wants to see Random Joe play Roger Federer at Wimbledon they want to see Federer vs Nadal or Djokovic vs Murray.

Capcom Cup is a great idea its too bad that they had 2/3 single elimination pools. The finals are going to be 8 players FT5 single elimination for all the marbles.

I'm all for upsets ad no-names making it.

I know people don't want to watch it it (Joe blow vs tokido), but I am sure Joe blows would love to play it out in that format. People hate watching pools already I think alot of times. This is for the pot monsters who attend. Like me. Joe blows can't make it to every tourney. It would be nice for evo. Of course you would need tons of set ups, so its not gonna happen.
