Blackace
if you see me in a fight with a bear, don't help me fool, help the bear!
He trolls a lot but his genuine posts (in race threads in particular) are some of the best I've read on here.
Yeah... his obsession with skin tone is a bit odd as well

Russian roulette?we should have a random rotation of bans.
I wish bans were more transparent for the rest of us... every time I see a ban I think "wow shit was it this comment that got them banned or something else entirely"; hard to learn what's what. Also it'd be cool to know if people were perm'ed or just temp'ed.
Also I miss Harry Potter I liked that guy
GAF does not, and never could employ enough moderators to ban each and every offensive or even bannable utterance. Getting a temp. ban for rudeness/disrespect is one of those things that does somewhat depend on the mod you encounter (if one is reading the thread at all) and the relative content of your post. Getting banned isn't like the violating the verbal morality statute in Demolition Man and in reality, even complete jerkass comments generally don't get reported by users since reporting isn't a built in GAF function.
PhoenixPause (nee Dark) is now a permanent GAF fixture, it feels like. It would be kind of odd if he ever left for good.
Anyone interested in gaf history ought to click on the thread linked in his tag, from back in the day when 3 whole pages of posts made for a legendary thread.
Shut it, colonel Sanders.Permanent juniors are my favorite bans. There's nothing wrong with being a junior but those are my fav.
Edit:I mean being stuck as a junior not being banned permanently because you were a junior.
This is clearly a thing that happens, but I wouldn't be able to tell you why. It's not connected to the length or reason for the ban. The urban legend that perms mean no avatars and temps keep their avatars is not true. I suspect it has something to do with the user group settings related to avatars, but I wouldn't be able to tell you. Every ban, temp or perm, involves switching someone to the same vBulletin user group.
I swear Eggman came back from the grave once.
I SEEN IT.
Wow I just discovered how your tag works.

Hahaha dude! I saw that after it was locked it makes me laugh hard for some reason and I wonder what happened? Is it cos of what he posted or cos he flipped out?
I enjoy that this thread has a lot of mod (and admin!) participation. Nice to see a little transparency in the process.
Snowman came back.
Yup, a bunch of people's got unbanned after a certain mod started throwing out perms for any perceived sexist statement. After the mod in question got unmodded, a lot of the bans were reversed, as I recall.
I wonder. How would someone go about an appeal for that. From what I've seen once your banned you can't even access your PMs.
Officially, you contact support@neogaf.com. Unoficially, there are numerous ways to contact us off site. And though we don't necessarily encourage getting a barrage of pleas from the friends of banned members, it is a way to get your message heard.
But other than that, if you absolutely need to contact me off site, just look for GAF related IRC chats. Search hard enough and I'm sure you'll find a way to get a hold of me.

Makes me wonder how I will get banned one day.
Permabanned twice and then resurrected (months later).
The first was for posting pictures of sheep in a political thread and then the second was for making fun of people with anime avatars.
Just keep adding weird things to your avatar, it'll happen.
Neither of these things are worth any ban at all.
Is there a support line I can call?

Not necessarily because the "perceived sexist statement" though: Evilore once stated that the reason why Dragona was unmodded was because he found out that she actually let someone else use her account and that someone else used her mod power to ban various people.
I can see that. I've never been banned. When I come across hot button issues (gun control, rape, sexuality)... I generally just observe.Every GAFer who's remotely interesting has been banned. No exceptions.
Does GAF hand out non-permabans (temporary bans that aren't permanent)? I was under the impression GAF works on a one-strike policy.
Lol there are year bans?
I will never regret the day when I finally became Interesting.
Elsk.
Man, no one reads that email account. I've sent countless emails there and I've never had one answered. PEACE.
I feel fortunate to still have an account. In early 2007 when I was still a junior, I received a ban in a PS3 topic. I suppose that time was just before juniors got the auto perma because I was back a few weeks later. Then a couple years later I made a really shitty thread and became perma-juniored. A year and a half later I PM'd a mod to restore my member status and he did. The worst part of being junior'd was getting "lol stupid junior" responses to my posts when in many cases I had been a GAFer much longer than the poster calling out me being a junior. That irked me the most for whatever reason.
Lots of this:

Well, I do know that account gets read. However, whether or not messages get read in a timely fashion and how often they are followed up on is a different matter entirely that I can't comment on. But I do know that it's not just a dummy account wherein the mail just instantly goes through the virtual shredder.
I don't think anyone cares about what I do to my avatar. Especially not mods and admins.
You think they have time to look at me?
