Decent fire types can counter Scizor as well as they resists both technician boosted STAB moves from him. Fire also resists Fairy, so Fire types are gonna play importantly on the metagame.
I'd actually like to see a Mega Scyther. Doubt it'll ever happen though.

I was looking at Heatran, but he has a x2 weakness to Fighting, and most people usually put Superpower on Scizor, at least in my experience in the competitive scene.

It's kinda possible. Scizor is more of a form change than he is a true evolution, as much of an upgrade as he is. Both of them share a BST of 500 and have pretty different niches.
Admittedly, Scizor stole Scyther's thunder because that typing and those abilities are hard to pass up.

There's a button on the touchscreen that activates Mega Evolution, and you still get to choose an attack during the same turn.

From what I've seen, during. You'll select to Mega Evolve it, then your move, and it'll all happen when your move priority dictates it. So you don't lose a turn to it, and they don't see you're going to do it until you do it.

So if opponent is faster does he attack first then you transform then attack.
Or do you transform he attacks you attack?

Yup.
You click the Mega Evolution button, and then select your move. Your will transform as the first thing to happen the next round. You can only transform once per battle though and if you trade Pokémon it reset the evolution and you cannot transform again that battle - as I understand.
Those are just because he's Chrom's spirit pokemon.

Most teams are going to need a VERY strong fire pokemon or something bulky that also resists (or 4x resists) steel type to contend with the POSSIBILITY of a mega scizor.
Or a phaser to power it down...
There aren't a lot of viable pokemon outside of ubers (not even other megas) that can counter normal scizor, let alone mega scizor.

My 3D is off and in some battles, the framerate takes a bit of a dive or the speed is consitent but it staggers, especially in those battles that have leaves being blown in the background.

Hm, I don't like the speed being unchanged (and the extra weaknesses that come for the ride...and the ability as it serves little for Gyarados with the current moveset), but I can and will certainly work with this!

I wonder what Heracross can do with skill link. The only move it learns that can use skill link is fury attack and you wouldn't use that even with it hitting 5 times. If heracross gets rock blast and bone rush those would be better than stone edge and earthquake, but arm thrust and pin missile are worse than close combat and megahorn.

I don't do competitive Pokemon like, ever, so I don't know what's actually great. :x
But, for smashing things in game, this should be good! With all the improvements to training things for competitive fights, though, I'll likely get into it this time around.
