Pokemon X and Y SPOILER Discussion Thread

Do we have move lists at all for Floette and Florges? Want to evolve it, but also don't want to miss out on any moves typical stone evolutions miss out on.

I evolved mine at 38. I had a look at the Fairy moves available and the TM given at the Gym looks the best for it and I can't see it getting many moves better than Petal Blizzard or Nature Power by level up.

There's Moonblast, which is 95BP and can lower the target's Special Attack. I dunno when Floette learns it, but you can get it at the Move Relearner with Florges anyway.

Ah, I didn't think it would learn that as, I dunno, it just doesn't seem like the kind of move it would learn, but if it Move Tutors it then that's fine!

Can someone tell me where I can find my friend code? Me and my friends cant figure out how add each others to trade. Please :/
you need to create a mii on the 3ds. afterwards you go to the "friend list" (should be the upper central icon on the lower screen (depicts a smiling square)). there you'll get your friendcode.

So I was SR'ing a bit earlier then I took a nap but now I've started back up and came across a female Fennekin with a calm nature? Or should I keep trying to get modest/timid nature???
or shiny?! BELIEVE!

So for super training can you train your pokemon in all categories for all levels or just certain categories? I've trained my docile Foakie a few times (still on level one super training) in attack, speed, and HP so far.

You need to complete all categories to unlock Level 2, and so on. So just do it with a Pokemon that you don't care about in regards to EVs.

I've never really done EV training for Pokemon. In the past I've just trained to beat the game but never really done any online battles, but this time I think I will. Does this mean that I shouldn't super train Froakie since I want Greninja on my final team?

Just a hunch. Don't have any basis, really.
I could see it going either way, personally. There may be more Mega Evolutions to find in-game, or there may not.

A question: Are Mega Evolutions viewable in the Pokedex? The Pokedex is a pretty slick model viewer so far. (I just got the Kanto starter)

Oh, you can do whatever you want with your Froakie. Those EVs will always stay even when you evolve to Greninja.

Correct! You just keep on playing those games and use those bags and you'll keep getting EVs until your meter is full for the particular stat you're training in.

Oh okay! Now I understand. Then why'd you say not to super train with someone I care about EVs with? Do you mean like trying to get a specific amount in each or something?

So you can unlock the better bags to train with instead of having to waste more time to use the reset bags on your Froakie. It really doesn't matter though, apparently it's pretty fast to reset EVs.

Oh, I meant that you use anyone you like to complete all the minigames first so you reach Level 5 since that Pokemon will get all sorts of EVs. Then once you've unlocked the highest level, use your Froakie to train in the stats you want.

What stats do you want your Froakie to improve on? It's best to choose only 2 so you get the max amount.

Heavily disagree with Safari Zone opinion, Mega Evos are fine but the downside is that may be hurting the new pokémon species number.

I'm happy with the Metagame changes, Fairy Type + the balance of overpowered weathers, stealth rock and other moves might come into a good new experience in battles which is the fun part of Pokémon to me.

Wait did they change Stealth Rock?

I was so happy when I maxed out two of my Skiddo's stats just to find that there was a small amount of space left in the meter. Thank you, GF, for capping Super Training at 252 EVs a stat THANK YOU GAMEFREAK THANK YOU!

To unlock all the levels you have to play every training.

This would mean fucking up your Froakie's EV spread if you did it with him.

By using something you don't care about to unlock all the levels you aren't messing with your Froakie's EV spread in any way, just making it much easier to train him.

Generation V is the most guilty of this. Three trio? 4 extra legendary Pokemon? Are they even legendary at this point? I know they need movies material, but at least not so blatant about it.

4th was the worse, Gen V had a ton of Pokemon so lots of Legendaries wasn't as stand-out as Gen IV having a small amount of New Pokemon with many spaces taken by Legendaries. Plus you had the Fairy Trio who were the worst...all the same type, more or less the same design (the Genie Trio is worse, but they were different and cool typings), and then weirdoes like Heatran and Cresselia, the latter who didn't get a movie even and only appeared like for 15 seconds in the show, and the former who was just a dude's goon and then in the show was literally shown owned by a random trainer standing in a line and never brought up whatsoever.

So I could, say, use Furfrou who I don't even like just to unlock everything, and then only play the ones I want on Froakie so that I could increase one or two stats more instead of evenly on all?

You nailed it. Yeah.

It's best to train on 2 stats normally, even though there may be exceptions.

Okay, thanks. I'll just finish off the level ones and unlock all of them with a random pokemon and then finish off Froakie's training correctly. I'll just need to find out which ones he needs, along with my other pokemon I'm gonna use in my team.
I can't wait to actually do things with this game whereas in others I'd just play to beat the game.

Yeah, do that. Not sure about you, but the later levels I found a bit difficult. I just can't get past Level 3 lol with getting medals.

Yeah, even though it can be annoying or time-consuming a bit, EV training gives a slight edge in competitive battles. So it's worth it. Also, bear in mind that your Froakie also needs to have a good Nature but you can't really do much about that unless you breed.

Don't know if this belongs in here and if it's a spoiler, but is Torchic the only Pokémon, we get for free via the Mystery Gift thing for now?

I'm sure we'll get some more in the future, but does anybody know more details? I've not been following the Pokémon threads, so I would appreciate your help.

No details on future Mystery Gifts yet. I'm sure we'll get more starters and maybe new legendaries that nobody knows of yet (since nobody knows what is the "Mew" of this gen thanks to no 3DS hacking)

Okay, that's what I thought. Didn't want to miss out on something. Thanks for the quick answer. :)

Sorry for all my questions but you guys are so helpful...

if I remember right in Gen 1, if you used a Thunder Stone on Pikachu, Raichu didn't learn anymore moves (I could be wrong, but I thought this was the case) ... If I remember right, is this still the case? Or can Raichu learn moves as well? I want to evolve mine, but not if he doesn't learn anything new.

Thanks~

Still the same. It's the tradeoff you get for being able to evolve whenever you want.
