Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | October 2013 | Ver 2000, Batman and some Angry Birds

Anyone know any good Vita titles in the $20-$25 range? Looking to expand my library a bit.

Also, any word on if Killzone is going to get any DLCs in the future?

Actually, let my rephrase that, is Malicious: Rebirth any good?

Persona 4 Golden if you don't already have it and are into RPGs. I bought three games last month with my Vita - Dragon's Crown, Soul Sacrifice, and P4. They're all good but P4 has more playtime on it than the other two combined. It's sooo good. Sound Shapes is also pretty good, amaaaazing if you're into custom stages and level editors. Pixel Junk Monsters, Comet Crash if it's supported, and Super Stardust Delta if you like shooters.

I admit it's been a while since I paid any attention to Gundam, but given that Gundam Breaker has an all ages CERO rating, I expect the game is fully part of the sell models to kids push.

Yeah, I'd say it's part of "sell models", but not really for kids. I haven't played it, but the entire atmosphere/set-up doesn't really look enticing to kids. Even the promotion videos doesn't really shout anything that would make it more oriented to younger audience. It's marketed to already long time Gundam fans, so young adults to adults.

I heard bad things about the game, though, so I'm going to pass on it.

If you're going to make a "make your own Gundam" game, they should at least try to put some balance on different suits. What's the effing point when everyone's going to just spam Freedom parts because the other parts can't compare?

Might as well change the tagline to "make your own Freedom Gundam!"

I'll wait until the day they allow me to use a Prototype Ball and still be able to fight on equal grounds against Strike Freedom.

I wish that there's a Gundam vs Gundam for Vita. Weirdly enough, it's one of the experience I miss so much from the PSP. :(

I heard Sound Shapes is pretty major on randomness being a factor... Not skill, but utter randomness. I hate games like this, is it true?

Only the Death Mode levels are random (the "coins" or whatever they're called show up in random spots but the level layout isn't random.) Your skill is still a factor but so is luck since the levels are time-based and the next coin can appear all the way on the other side of the level from where you are.

It's frustrating, but the satisfaction of beating a Death Mode level is pretty sweet.

The main levels aren't random at all.

Only for the challenge mode.

Hmmmmmmm, isn't that even worse though? For whatever you attempt "challenges" if they are largely decided by randomness?

Anyways, already bought Malicious Rebirth, now I still have around 42-43 bucks left. Wonder what's to buy... is it better to buy 1 huge game + 1 smaller game or multiple smaller games, I wonder.

Damn, finally finished. Only took from 11:30 AM to 8:30 PM to back up and restore:

9 hours to transfer 27GB? People should stop using the backup/restore option. I transfer games between my Vita and my laptop often, and it takes about 5 mins to copy over a 3 gig game.

Transfer it there and then transfer it back... yeah, took too long. Luckily there's been a horror movie marathon on all day while it was going. I don't ever want to do that again, because it's sure fire way to get screen burn in.

I just did a quick test with Escape Plan, the biggest digital-only installed game I have, at 2311MB with DLC:

Might have been a bit quicker. Oh well. I probably would have forgotten something if I'd done it manually.

i'm jelly of your enhanced storage

i'm still a 32gb pleab

Do you have any other cards? I have one 32, two 16, one 8, and one 4. I would love to get a 64gb, but i can't bring myself to spend that much. I didn't even buy a 32gb card until it got to be $45 a week or two ago at Best Buy.

I traded in a bunch of games to get my Vita, and 32GB card on the cheap during launch. I don't like juggling memory cards so I've only stuck to the one.

In all seriousness, unless you own most of your games in physical or you love to micromanage, I don't know how you can remain sane with a memory that size.

This is how I manage, I usually have one or two games downloaded onto my Vita and I keep the physical ones I really like to play in my case

Cheddahz, i keep thinking you're rob from zeboyd due to your avatar
Maybe I should change it then, but I'm just really looking forward to the new Zeboyd project

With SE saying future DQ titles will be multiplat I wonder if DQXI will be 3DS/Vita

lol who am I kidding, it will be iOS/Android

Did you try life of pixel suppa?

I bought it but I haven't gotten the chance to play it with midterms, work & such.

I'm giving myself the day off tomorrow to relax a bit so that's what I'm going to play.

Are you the one who rec'd it to me? if so, thank you, judging what I've seen so far, for a ps vita indie game, it looks fun.

Mind you I typically scoff at these "so retro" gaems, but it really does look nice.

I wasn't convinced at the time.. It was only like 2quid right? Seems a bit steep when malicious rebirth with all its glory was only a tenner. I know different games and all... But still. If it doesn't control as well as the trial does in the rest of the game, and no patches have been made... Think I'll try and hold out till Christmas.. Or more likely until the store update, before the plane ride back..

For us, Malicious Rebirth is $15.
Spelunky is $15.
PS+ discount was $12 for first week.

For the campaign, no.
For the death mode levels, absolutely.

I've liked all the FF games I've played, and I tried Ni no Kuni but I didn't like it (story, child-like). Do you guys think I'd like P4G? There aren't any RPGs out right now on PS3 or PC that interest me...

I like FF games (at least the majority of them) and loved P4G, FWIW.
I was unsure about it before I bought it for $20 on sale... trusted GAF and was not let down *this* time.

You're going to give him the impression they're connected in story when they really aren't.
I asked around extensively before starting P4G and found the answer to be an overwhelming "You can definitely play P4G before P3(P) if you so desire."

Well, it's nice for someone experience the
superior
Persona first :p but if he/she doesn't have the time to play P3, then by all means jump with P4.

It's not my favorite JRPG, but it is a very enjoyable one that everyone who owns a Vita should try out and play.

What are you feelings on P3P?

I keep hoping for P3 Sapphire Vita to be a thing. We can all dream.

Implying it won't be Persona 3Diamond for the 3DS

Joking aside, P3P is great for what it is. Sure it's a bit stripped down compared to FES and Vanilla, but the FeMC route and the ability to control your party so a certain red head won't scream out Marin Karin makes up for it.

And after a while the "VN style" aspect is decent and it suits the handheld well

You will definitely love it. If anything, it does a better job introducing players to the Persona games that P3 in my opinion. The story is also way, way more mature than Ni no Kuni.

Maaaaan Valhalla Knights 3..................................

If only they can do something about the character models... They're just so bloody creepy-looking! Can't they even do a proper Moe if their intention is doing full fan-service? Geezz.

The blond hostess remind me that girl that made herself look like Barbie through surgery...

Have nightmares....

(It's not photoshop, I've seen an interview in a "serious" news paper about that girl...

Not every DQ is on PlayStation hardware. They could've rectified that by putting their iOS ports on Vita, but no.

They may put their iOS ports on Vita down the line... very, very down the line.

The VN aspect was not that bad. My main problem with it was that there were some moments where the game really needed a cutscene... like
Chidori's death
