Kotaku: NFS Rivals "indistinguishable" between PS4/PC, XB1 version not present

It's so weird to think that the PS4 is closer to the spiritual successor to X360 and the XB1 is closer to the spiritual successor of PS3. Although I think both companies will likely handle the generation differently than their respective spiritual precursors did

No, nothing is confirmed till we have the final versions of the games in our hands. It's all speculation for the moment. Knowledge about the platforms, developer comments from the NFS team and examples from the past generation all point towards an advantage of the PS4 build though.

No, EA wanted control of the online functionality of their games, and held online out of Xbox versions. MS eventually caved and let EA run the online themselves for EA games so they'd have parity.
 
30fps is such a downer, but I hope they unlock it in a patch like they did with the The Run

You're making a great point. But, games like Battlefield which we know have exclusive content coming to the XB1 you would assume would be shown running on XB1 hardware. Even the battlefield trailers have the XB logo pop up at the end. That's why people are concerned.

Edit: I am aware recently demos on XB1 have been available.

If microsoft supported the 360 as well as sony supported the ps3 the last few years, the xbox one launch would be barren.

That can be a positive and negative. Personally I would rather play the last of us and gran turismo 6 on PS4, than i would on PS3.

(yea the answer is many of the main Xbox One launch games are actually projects moved over from 360, and therefore obviously more further along in terms of conceptual work and design work. Sony chose to keep their late PS3 titles on PS3, and as a result have less games ready and delayed game like DriveClub)

But hey, when you can get a game like Forza 5 @ 60fps/1080p, who cares where these things started their life? It's going to be awesome.

I totally agree but do people care? All they see is that the Sony doesn't have a lot of launch exclusive AAA's and it hurts Sony even though you and I know why.
 
Just walked into this thread. Can someone quickly summarize how NFS rivals on PS4 and PC turned into what I see on the last page? :P
 
So, if the PS4 and PC version are identical, and the dev said one version was clearly better than the others, that means...

Heh, I expected them to say that. Just like when Ryse was revealed to be running at 900p, his... 'Insider' claimed MS was just trolling Sony.

On topic: PC version locked at 30fps is depressing... Hope they fix that with a patch later.

so i would think NFS would look better since Fozra is going 60fps but clearly forza looks better. I'm bummed b/c i prefer arcade to sim so forza does nothing for me yet nfs looks last gen so i'm prob passing.

say what you will about ryse, the gameplay might not work out well but the graphics def look next gen. Same with killzone and even killer instinct which side to side to current gen 2d fighting, looks much better.

i'm just looking for a racing game doing the same thing.

No as it's been stated many time devs can go for parity with multiplatforms and just based from the least powerful. Unless a dev makes effort to make the more powerful platforms the games can basically be the same as X1. Not saying this is the case it's clear it's not just saying it's not a guarantee especially based on the last two generations.

As it should be multiplatform performance is not always a good thing and as is this case since they started doing it the lesser platforms tend to suffer. Hopefully this generation enough gamers will realize some of the big companies do this no matter what and will start making them pay for it where it really counts.

If the difference is as noticeable as the difference between 360 and PS3 multiplats or even greater, then the fuss will have been justified.

This past gen I have been sick and tired of getting the subpar version of multiplatform titles. Not happening again this generation.

What should be of concern is the fact that most multiplatform developers have been unwilling to show the xbone version of their games.

The example of EA previously favoring the PS2 is flawed. EA had a political interest in its own servers to favor the PS2 at the time, and there is no such interest now.

I do not think third party publishers would otherwise intentionally reinforce the one platform that already has the greater mindshare. It is simply more likely that if one console is noticeably better, software will consistently be showcased on it.

Sony had one game delayed after fans insisted they double their initial performance goals, whereas nearly every XBone exclusive has gotten a performance downgrade since it was initially shown, and Forza is shipping unfinished.

Except for the fact that, you know... PS2 games didn't go online until late 2002 which doesn't explain the reason why EA showed off games on that console before that time.

The whole 2001 (2002 season) EA Sports line up looked better on the Xbox but they still chose to show games on/with the PS2.

I've waited to see for many years now.

Still not impressed with PC gaming. Console gaming is just as good, if not better due to the community aspect.

Eh while I think the next gen consoles are in no way going to show up PCs or whatever

I think his comment is actually fairly tame in comparison to a lot of PC to console comments

The fact that it's ok on Gaf for PC gamers to refer to all console gamers as plebs (plebians) and that master race is an accepted term on here is incredibly condescending although most of those comments are just in general and not directed at anyone in particular I guess
