It probably does to some geology professors
And I'm sure there's some things that are important to KarmaCow that they don't get to just go around defacing.

Whenever I see this by blood gets boiling, I almost become racist towards dumb, Chinese kids, but then I pull myself back together!
Jesus, you guys need to cut these people some slack. Talk about witch hunting. It was a stupid mistake, a fine would be suitable. I wish people got this outraged about things that...you know...actually matter.
Rocks that will be here before and after you're long gone ... I hope you were being sarcastic
You know where your house is? There used to be rocks there.

What a fucking idiot. People like this shouldn't even be alive. They contribute absolutely nothing to society.
This has ruined my day.
In contrast to most other parks, Goblin Valley doesn't proscribe trails to follow in the valley among the stone formations, suggesting visitors walk in and amongst the brown goblins, letting SF fans see Galaxy Quest's rock battle site up close. Park visitors can be overheard using the stone formations as a landscape-based Rorschach test, comparing the formations to mushrooms, ducks, trolls, eggs, and more.
Scouts from all over the Southwest frequently camp here, playing amongst the goblins. One ranger indicated visitors love to walk amongst the formations during full moons and to play moonlit laser tag in the valley.
If someone walked into the Louvre and did irreversible damage to the most priceless painting in there, do you think they should be punished under the law?I don't get the outrage, they don't deserve jail time for that.
.On no, not rocks!
That rock will still be thereRocks that will be here before and after you're long gone ... I hope you were being sarcastic
That rock will still be there
The rock formation looks like a bunch of penises....or at least did.
I'm not the only one right?
Why not

hillbilly fuckI especially liked the part where he channeled his inner Hulk Hogan.

So why cant they just put the rock back and call it a day?
It's a rockBut not in its natural state.
It's a rock
And nothing of value was lost by pushing it over. You wouldn't give a shit about anyone pushing the rock over unless someone told you to care.Yeah, and?

You're comparing throwing something unnatural into a natural habitat to pushing something over. You don't think that's at least a little bit of a false equivalence?Bullshit. Say some dick weed threw a bag of cement into one of the pools at Yellowstone because they though a kid might fall in. You don't think people should be mad about that?
I'm saying that literally nothing is going to happen from those rocks being knocked over other then the fact that the rocks are in a slightly different position then they were 200 millon years ago, much like almost every other rock in the history of rocks. Yet some people want these guys to go to jail, or are saying they should die.Do you think something doesn't have value if it isn't directly useful to humans?

There's hundreds like it in that areaYeah, and?

What value was lost from it being moved?Do you think something doesn't have value if it isn't directly useful to humans?
No, you're still clogging up a geyser, which is completely different then moving a rock a couple feet. Nothing in nature gets fucked up by these rocks moving a little. The only reason people are mad is because these were really old rocks that never moved and now they are moved, much like almost ever other rock in history.Fine, say they rolled a boulder into it to block the whole thing. Better?
Except it's not. A good equivalence would be moving any rock from one side of your yard to the other. Nothing in nature gets hurt from these rocks falling over, the only reason people are mad is because these rocks were really good at not falling over and now they're not upright anymore. I'm not even saying the guys should have done it, but the outrage of some rocks being slightly different then they were yesterday is ridiculous.Actually I think it's pretty good equivalence.

What value was lost from it being moved?
Environmentally? Absolutely nothing. It doesn't matter what formation the rocks are in, the only reason people care that they're sitting the way they are is because they've been like that for so long. The rocks aren't doing anything in the position they're in that they couldn't be doing completely spread across the ground in an environmental sense.Ask yourself this question: what value would be lost if someone went in and tipped over hundreds of them in that area?

You have zero proof that this isn't the case. I'm not saying these guys should get of scot free. Fine them and ban them, but jail time? People in here wishing that the rocks would have fallen on their heads? Fuck off with that.Environmental considerations aren't the only metric here.
But then again, environmentally speaking, who knows what sort of microclimate has established in that valley as a result of the current configuration, and what sort of (presumably micro) organisms depend on it.
Or perhaps the current layout is fine for a predator/prey balance. Who knows.
But it's not just a simple matter of "they're just rocks".
You know what you get for littering once? A fine. You do not get jail time like so many people are hoping these guys get.The "just rocks" defense force also must be the type to see no issue with littering ... sad to see such disrespect for this world ...
What value was lost from it being moved?
He was just mad the rock had a higher IQ than him.
