They haven't caught any Pokemon capable of breeding a Modest Goomy though.
Luckily I got a Modest Ditto.

Yeah, you're fine. You can EV train at lv 100 and still have it turn out like any other Pokemon.

Yeah, you'll be fine. The only downside to rare candies in no EVs which is not an issue if they're already EV trained.

Hawlucha is the better HM slave though. It can learn Fly, Cut, Strength, and Rock Smash (not an HM but might as well be). Then teach Surf to your water Pokémon since it's actually a decent move.

Finally caught a modest Xernaes, and on the first turn with a quick ball. If it wasn't so easy to catch I would have given up on capturing one with a modest nature after the third try. What's the best sit/calculator to find out its IVs, though? I know what the best nuetral nature stats are but not sure about the beneficial ones. There's a character in the game who can help but from what I could gather he's post end game.

Nope. That's the best part of Pokémon, anyone can play and enjoy it. The deeper stuff is just there for people who want it, and is not required for having fun.

There's no shame in being an HM slave. Utility Pokemon is credit to team.
