Hey guys, whats a good level I should evolve Scyther into Scizor? Seems like Serebii and Bulbapedia data is outdated. Anyone with the official guide have any info on moves it learns later on?

Currently sitting at 50 (what I caught it at), but I'm thinking of bringing him through the Elite 4 with me.

Get a Ditto with the nature you want from the safari. It'll have 2 perfect IVs. Then use everstone and destiny knot, and eventually you'll get the nature and IVs passed. Then take pokemon with the nature and the two perfect IVs and breed it with a different ditto with two different perfect IVs. Eventually you'll get a pkmn with 4 perfect IVs. Continue switching pokemon until you get the 5 that you want.

And someone correct me if I'm wrong. lol

I did my Dratini the long way, since I have no access to FS Dittos. Caught two Dragonair in Friend Safari that had stats I wanted. Bred one with a Male Froakie that had the Nature I wanted, then kept breeding Dragonair with Dratini and Dratini with Dratini. until I had passed on every IV I needed.

I guess I could trade the 2 IV Dittos I caught for other safari pokemon that I can use to breed.

Personally I think that's a better way. It's better to breed your 4 perfect IV pkmn with a 3 perfect IV pokemon than always have to deal with only a 2 IV ditto. It should increase your odds and lower the amount of time it takes.

I've been doing this only one day and I've already got a 5 perfect female froakie. I'm breeding with a 4 perfect male froakie, so I should have a 5 perfect male any time now. Then I can keep breeding and use them for good trading.

Whenever. You'll be using Scizor's moveset anyway

I'd suggest something like Bullet Punch, X-Scissor, Acrobatics, Sword Dance

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm generally clueless when it comes to team composition, I always end up 3/5 of the way through the E4 and find some type vulnerability that I completely missed before.

I won't be surprised if it turns out to be false. There's nothing to back it up besides lucky people who have happened to find shinies while also tipping.

I have tipped EVERY single time I've been asked - 1,000 every time. And not seen a single shiny.

Now that friend safari exist, I think the ditto strategy isn't the best anymore. As long as you've got a friend safari with the pokemon you want.

Not sure if this counts as it only used it once but I've had a wild pokémon kill itself using curse before.

Yeah, that's exactly the same thing I did. Started this morning and got everything finished today. Even if there's a better way, the changes made to this gen actually make breeding viable to someone like me.

I'd say anything is fair game, bar speed as you want to be slow and HP due to it being mediocre. It actually has a respectable special spread so it could go mixed attacker. You'd probably have to forego a boosting move and/or King's Shield, though.

The good thing about Scizor is that he just has one huge weakness to fire plus he's got a crazy amount of resistances. Most people are way overlevelled by the time they reach the Elite 4 so you might not even have to think that far.

I hear ya. Marill's in that solid water 1 group (along with the Dratini line) so at least I can pass down the IVs at some point to some decent Pokemon.

Eh, is that so?

I want to do a 128 HP/ 128 ATK/ 128 DEF/ 124 Sp DEF set at some point, regardless.
Right now I'm using a faux (EVs are a bit messy due to storyline and I'm too lazy to reset an imperfect pokemon anyway) 252 ATK/ 124 DEF/ 124 Sp DEF Aegis and I like how it works, so I'll start from there.
I want to play around with things a bit, especially with leech seed being involved.

Yeah, I'm just sort of wary about that because I also have Aegislash who has Fire as a vulnerability too. But they're two of my favourite Pokemon so I don't mind. Not that bad IMO, especially if I have Scizor in the back and Aegislash is a sweeper.

Pretty much what I'm gonna do.

The IV guy gave me a "Outstanding" on a few Pumpkaboo so I'm gonna mass breed them with a DK and go down that route.

Anyone know what's best for a giant Pumpkaboo? Careful or Brave?

Also, Friend Safari Pumpkaboo seem to only come in arvg size ...

Just beat the Elite 4 and Champion a few days ago.

Despite most being slow and weak to special attacks, worked out okay.
Though, half my team got wiped be the Fairy Gym's Sylveon(weak to fairy and I had replaced all my steel moves).

On another note, though, looking around at serebii, apparently the once a day berry mixing in Lumiose can increase EV/levels/happiness or reset all EVs depending on the berries used.

Defense.. is it different for different people? And even if it is wouldn't you still put the EVs in attack because you can king's shield first turn?
