I tried to do the E4 with new monster-only team, but I had to make an exception for Mawile because it's ~*~shiny~*~.

They need to have been online at the same time as you at least once after they've beaten the E4 for the game to recognize it.

Why is everyone so keen on Friend Safari Dittos? Is it an IV thing?
Personally I haven't even gotten that far, but I'm having a blast in a way I haven't with Pokemon in a while. I'm about 30 hours in, just got to the town with the last gym. Stopping to hunt down and catch as many as I can, although there seems to be heaps I've missed. Want to get through the main game soon so I can get everywhere unlocked and go back to hunt out the ones I've missed.
First game I've used the GTS in, too. I was lucky enough for Sycamore to give me a female Charmander, so a bit of breeding has helped me with the other starters. Same thing with the trade to evolve pokes, but the ones that need to hold something might be a bit trickier. I've had terrible luck with connection errors, but overall it's been a great asset. Wonder Trade is mostly full of rubbish, but I got lucky with things like a Fennekin and a Larvitar. I've been trying to give back a bit with that, and will probably do a bit more once I start breeding with any effort.
I still have my GBA collection imported in Diamond, and I'm halfway through Kanto in SS before putting it down. I really want to get back to that before the Pokebank thing is out (I need Groudon and Latios since I didn't have Ruby) and at some point run through Black or White 2 for the transfer. And to collect whatever I'm missing from there, of course.
For now I'm just enjoying obtaining as many as I can in X.

These two together should be perfect:
Naive ditto - 31 Hp, 31 Atk, 31 sp def
Lonely Ditto - 31 sp. atk, 31 spd
If only that lonely one had 31 def as well...
And also one question, so it doesn't matter which parent holds the destiny knot, because it takes 5 random iv's total from either both parents?
If you've played the older games, BW2 are awesome thanks to the Pokémon World Tournament. Nostalgia overload. (as well as the vast amount of other post-game content)

Optimistic query; anyone have Pokerus they are willing to spread. Its EV training time and that would make everything amazing. Feel free to PM me if you don't wanna get swarmed.

I really don't bother with IVs either. As long as I have the nature I want, I'll EV train it properly and be happy with that.
If IVs bother you, you can typically just ignore them. The gains are somewhat minimal considering how much RNG is involved in both attacking and defending. As long as you focus on EVs/Nature you can typically still battle competitively.

Are there any fairy pokemon besides Sylveon worth using? I had a Flabebe at one point, but it was pretty weak.
Could you not trade the torchic with someone then get them to trade it back?
I may be biased, but Mr Mime is dual type fairy

You shouldn't need to grind at all in this game.
Are you using Exp. All? The trainers in the game should be enough. Are you skipping trainer fights?
Floette/Florges carried my team once it evolved.

Also, any ideas for which EVs? 252 Atk for sure, not sure if I should focus on HP, Defense or Speed for the last 252 and give the last 4 to one of the remaining stats

Quick balls. They work in Friend Safari 95% of the time. Throw 'em the first turn and don't hassle with it.
Also I got a Scatterbug through wonder trade from a Japanese player. Oh boy, another Elegant. But nope, turns out it turned into a tundra Vivillon! My collection grows. Here is a handy map for patterns (huge image warning):
And pattern picture. I have Elegant, Modern, High Plains, and Tundra. I'll trade something worthwhile if you have other patterns.
I keep having to grind because I keep switching 'mons in and out of my team every other day.
Speaking of which, my 3DS says I've been playing this for over 50 hours. That's getting dangerously close to my Fire Emblem playtime, and I just barely entered Lumiose from the other side.

Gardevoir.
Psychic coverage for fairy's weaknesses. 4x fighting resistance. Elimination of bug and dark weakness, plus moves that can wipe out dark types. Will-o-wisp to cripple physical fighters. Plus mega for speed and special attack, though she's not the best mega.

Do you remember that cave that you had to go to with Rhyhorn`? Crush some rocks where you met that archeologists. I found two new fossils there.
I am regretting that I chose X over Y because I realized the Mega Charizard for X is pretty pointless and does not have any great strengths.
Mega Gardervoir despite nice stat gains has a terrible ability which is pointless compared to Gardervoir great abilities.
I also took a look at a lot of the Mega Evolutions and wow many are ugly as a sin. Mega Pinsir and Aerodactyl look terrible!
