Thinking of switching out my Doublade and replacing it with Mawile on my team because of the amount of people I see beating the game with Doublade/Aegislash =X kind of makes me feel unoriginal.

I have been playing this game since friday and these are my experiences so far. (Note veteran pokemon player, only skipped Gen V)

Started out with a Chespin and Squirtle on my first save and played non-stop till the 4th gym. Then decided to restart since my team didn't have a good synergy and was too defensive (I blame this all on Fletchling, bird only learns peck and ember as attack moves). Restarted with Froakie and Charmander and the results are much better. Although in my haste I forgot to trade away a shiny Electrike on here/Wondertrade (sorry guys!). Current team is Greninja, Charizard, Gallade, Doublade, Lucario and Floette, but I'm still experimenting with a Scraggy and Ampharos. I've also gotten a baby Noibat and Pichu through Wondertrade recently, keep dumping these baby pokemon GAF. Now I'm heading to the powerplant and hopefully some new pokemon.

Anyway here's my friendcode (1263 - 6411 -3961) if anybody wants to add me, or preferably spam some O-powers.

Sap sipper or gooey is way better than hydration.

Are there any fairy pokemon besides Sylveon worth using? I had a Flabebe at one point, but it was pretty weak.

Florges (Flabebe's fully evolved form), Gardevoir, and the aforementioned Mawile. Can't speak for any others.

Emphasis "good." It's also only catchable much later in the game than he's currently at.

Torchic would probably be the best option if a fire type is absolutely necessary, though a lot of things can use fire coverage that it probably isn't.

Take out zygarde and use Hydreigon.

Agreed. I ran a pure Dragon Team in BW2, and Hydreigon is essential. Ditch the legendary for sure. I would also choose Salamence over Tyrantrum.
Flygon, Noivern, Kingdra are other decent options. I also like to use Gyarados, whilst not dragon type i always considered him a pseudo-dragon since Lance used one in Red/Blue.

I really believe Tyrantrum may be my favorite Pokémon EVER. Amazing design, ferocious yet oddly cute at the same time. Aesthetically pleasing to look at. And he's a killer in battle -- fully EV trained, he has high 200s in Attack and Defense around Lv. 70, and Stone Edge/Dragon Claw/Crunch/Earthquake provides stellar coverage. I want to acquire an Assault Vest to boost his Sp. Defense by 50%; it disables status moves but that won't matter since he only has damaging moves.

That's what I get for speeding through the game. Time to grind some.

I made it all the way to the Lumiose City gym before tapping out completely. Was having trouble finding a move that was effective against his Magneton. I used what grass/ground Pokemon I had and my Delphox.

I think there is one that teaches the starters something (an NPC mentioned something about wanting to see a starter and something about a move). Probably the usual Frenzy Plant/Blast Burn/Hydro Cannon...

But that shouldn't count.

Get box of cool Pokémon, either breeding something or catching from Friend Safari.
Wonder Trade them all.
Spend Pokémiles on Rare Candy.
Rare Candy Pokémon to top levels.

1000 miles = 4 levels.

So easy!

its pretty much chaining through fishing,
i did a chain of 23 for nothing but then got a chain of 13 and found a shiny clawitzer so i know it works!

This seems legit, though I had no luck on a 45 streak. Some are saying it takes anywhere from 30 to 120 though. The NPC does mention that line about rarer Pokemon appearing with a bigger streak, so it is probably hinting at shinies.

My Tyrantrum is Impish (+ Def, - Sp. Attk). His neutral nature EV-boosted Attack will still be tremendous. I want his defenses (EV/nature-boosted Def, and Assault Vest-boosted Sp. Def) to give him some extra endurance.

Yeah, you get loads of miles through Wonder Trade. Someone said you get the distance between you and trader as Pokemiles.
