Who was speaking for you? Reading comprehension fail? He said Vita bros prefer..... Thus making a general statement for all of us. I was correcting that not speaking on your behalf. 60fps for anything other than fighting games on the vita is useless because of the analog sticks and the fact that it's a portable device.
Sorry, I'm tired and cranky this morning.
I think that first sentence you wrote made me read the rest of it in a really negative tone rather than a statement of opinion...
I still disagree with you. NGS+ and NGS2+ should both be running at the same 60fps as the console. Action games are just as sensitive to changes in fps as fighters (especially ports of a console title) and thus should sacrifice visual fidelity to maintain framerate if possible, IMO.
NGS+ was not only 1/2 the speed of the console game but also couldn't even hold the solid 30fps... so the fact that it was native res was not helpful or welcome.
As for something like Malicious Rebirth, well...
No way dude. Did you recently get a 120Hz pc monitor or something?
It's just when the bosses are right up your ass laying into you with big special moves AND when there are lots of other enemies about. --then it runs like shit...for a second or so as you dash the fuck out of there.
For the graphics, the number of enemies, the size of the maps...I think it's a pretty great technical achievement compared to a lot of other games on the platform.
You must not be playing the same game I am.
Play around in the hub world for a bit... double/triple/4x/5x/6x jump... watch how responsive the fist combos are and how they are in sync with your timing on the buttons (square, triangle, triangle, triangle for example). See how fast you have to jam on the button to get the fists of fury to come out.
Then go into any stage and try any of that.
The second you're in a stage with some enemies and such, it runs like it's underwater.
Get a boss like the twin queens? It's even worse.
It runs about the same as the console version, which is a shame.
As pointed out above -- they should've dropped the enemy count, dropped some graphical fidelity... done something to ensure that the game runs at a constant framerate. This isn't Castlevania:LoS where you can hide the terrible framerate in the "impact slowdown effect" of some moves to an extent. This runs more like a musou with some DMC influence and, IMO, needs to stay at a constant 30 at the very least. While you're right that the framerate, once in a stage, runs mostly constant, as soon as you enter the stage, it drops from 30 to somewhere in the mid 20s.
I was expecting it to run potentially better than the console counterpart based on some impressions here, but it most cases (as I expected it to) it actually runs worse.
I think it was a valiant attempt and I'm playing it and almost done with it (as you are), but I don't think it runs well at all. I'm not happy I paid $15 for it, as the #1 thing I wanted in the "director's cut" version was for them to fix the technical problems the PS3 game had. If it was only Story 1 with a constant 30fps (which would beat out the console version), I would have been throwing $15 at them. But within 3-5 minutes of purchase, I immediately noticed the "underwater" effect and wished I hadn't bought it. I think I'm trying to focus on finishing it because I like the core game and want to feel like I didn't waste $15. :lol
Lol, you're very wrong. If you anecdotal evidence is from neogaf, then your clueless. The statement that most vita bros on Neogaf prefer 60fps would be more correct and even then, that statement would be false.
As far as I'm concerned, Vitabro/Vitacat/Vitamuffin are terms of the people who love their Vitas and
frequent this thread, since, y'know, the terms were coined in this thread by regular members.
So y'know, that kind of makes being on GAF a requirement of sorts (though I'm sure there are exceptions).
