Pokémon XY |OT2| Would you like to leave a tip?

Well, this is the first Pokemon I've played this much since probably Soul Silver. I usually give each gen a try but quickly lose interest. I think having exp share has really changed the foundation of the game. You have a whole wealth of moves to use considering your whole party's level consistently increases throughout the game.

However, with that said, the game is way too easy. I can usually blow through all gym trainers and gym leaders with one Pokemon and with one move (I've gone through 5 of them so far). It would be great if the game were more challenging.

Edit: When/where do you get the
ability to ride Pokemon
? I am by the
Frost Cavern
town - did I miss it? Also, is it possible to have Pokemon walk beside you, like in Pokemon Yellow? That'd be cool.

What's wrong with Global Link?

I skipped BW gen so I don't exactly know what function it played then, but I think it's great in XY.
It's probably just my irrational dislike of new things, don't take me too seriously.

But I didn't really enjoy it. To me it was basically saying 'stop playing Pokemon and go play an awful flash game if you want cool hidden abilities'. I only did it a couple times, but from what I remember, you would get on, and then choose an area to adventure in. Then you had to click to the next screen over and over, and if you were lucky you might get something interesting by the end of it. Maybe I just didn't get it though. Maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance.

  • The presumably non-existent post-game (I'm still grinding for the last gym)
    .

  • What's the scoop on this? Is there anything to do besides versus? I'm wondering how to level and such after I beat the E4.

Regarding the E4, should I level up for a while before I play them or do they have a "locked" level?

Got a Shiny Clauncher in Wonder Trade yesterday, was a pleasant surprise after throwing out a bunch of Aerodactyls and Eevees!

What's everyone's biggest disappointment in the new game?

Mine is probably an even split between:
- Mega-evolution means no regular evolution for that pokemon line, and

- Only one new Eevee-lution this gen

Mine are;

--Flamethrower base power being 90.
-Ice Beam base power being 90.
-Thunderbolt base power being 90.
-Surf base power being 90.
- Blizzard base power being 110.
-Thunder base power being 110.
-Fire Blast base power being 110.
-Ice type are still weak.
-only 69 new Pokémon
- No new evolution for past Pokémon.
- Not being about to use the circle pad to run.
- Mega evolution
- Only one new eeveelution.
-
Diantha being the champion.
-Elite four being at the same level and only carrying 4 Pokémon.
- The gym leaders not being involved in the story.
-Serena only having 4 Pokémon.
-no challenge mode.
-The legendary Birds being the Kalos trio.
-the Pokédex being split into 3 parts.
- Professor Sycamore's aides.
-Fairy type being a disappointment.
-Team flare grunts, they just recycled the same one and I expecting some funny moments.
-Shauna, Tierno and Trevor they filled no purpose what so ever with Shauna being the worse.
-Charizard not being able to learn Dragon Pulse naturally and learning Flamethrower so late in the game.

Really hoping that Z version fixes some of those flaws otherwise gen 6 will have been a big disappointment to me.

how in the fuck are we 6 generations in and Gamefreak still hasn't explained the fact that Kangaskhan are born with a baby Kangaskhan inside of them? Why doesn't it have a pre-evolution yet?? :l :l :l

It makes it even worse that they acknowledged the Pokemon through Mega Evolution.

It's too late for Kangaskhan to get a pre-evolution as it should have gotten one in gen 2.

Agreed, Even though I have tried to not overlevel the npcs by switching teams and trying to stay close to the enemy levels, gym leaders go down with one or two poke so far, and I'm not even trying to use pokes that are super effective.

Have to agree with people saying there's not much post game content. Is all that's left
Capturing the 3 new legendary pokemon and the battle mansion?
Another thing I have a problem with is
no legendary trio, which is a first. While GF has been giving us too many legendary Pokemon the last couple of games, I always felt that a legendary trio was essential.

Modest Xerneas
30-31 / 30-31 / 30-31 / 14-15 / 30-31 / 30-31

Fuck you too, Xerneas.

I eventually gave up on catching a perfect Xerneas, it always has low IVs in the stats that matter.

I'll get it eventually. I've had 30-31 / x / 30-31 / 28-29 / 30-31 / 30-31 twice now. Just need that extra point of Special Attack!

Zapdos, Articuno, and Moltress depending on what starter you pick.

Looker quest for post game.

Honestly though, the online infrastructure is so good that I can forgive low post game.

THIS! These are the best games for multiplayer functionality, period. I have no issues battling or trading. You're not limited to just 3v3 singles either. I've had a couple of multi battles that were a freaking blast. Wish I could find more people willing to do them. 4 player battles are so fun.

And by not limited, I mean I can easily challenge people to do any kind of battle. Not just people I'm friends with.

Agreed.
Regarding legendaries though, we don't have any reason to think we've seen them all, right? I'm sure there's probably a Mew-like, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if there were a couple more. Same for Megas, maybe. Would we even know about Blaziken if he wasn't given to us? Or have I missed something, and people can see the data now?

Yeah, even the rank stuff is pretty fun, though I really wish that they would lock out legendaries.

Fuck Oblivion wing.

The
Looker
missions are the only good part of the postgame. The legendaries are boring, Friend Safari, while useful, is just a patch of grass, and the Battle Maison is lacking compared to the Battle Frontiers of the older games.

Use the high rank Battle Chateau and restaurant battles for both money and exp. No need to do the E4 at all.

Do you have to pay each time you do it? Or does the 50k/100k get you "access" to them permanently?

Haven't spent too much time. I did the 50k, then it went to 100k the next time but they only went up to like lvl 35 and all mine are 50+

is this real?

Hm, what's a better moveset for my Careful 252 Attack, 252 HP Malamar?

~Rest
~Sleep Talk
~Superpower
~Night Slash

or

~Superpower
~Psycho Cut
~Night Slash
~Topsy Turvy

The first one is crazy self-sufficient but can be screwed over by the randomness of Sleep Talk, and the second one has better coverage and can screw over buff-dependent foes but relies on Contrary Superpower boosts to do well.

Yes, you have to pay, but if you use an Amulet Coin/Luck Incense and sell the mushrooms you will make a huge profit. Chateau is even faster for money.

I'm fine with the non-roaming Legendaries. In fact, catching ideal Mewtwo and Zygarde are two of the activities I'm looking forward to most when I finish.

Question.

If I breed a female Lileep with a male Storm Drain Gastrodon, will the resulting Lileep have it's hidden ability?

I suppose not, but I really want to have a Cradily with that ability :(

OK, will have to give this a shot. I want to level up and such before I beat the E4. I don't remember receiving any mushrooms after the battles. Wonder if I'm not high enough level yet.

My guess is they sort of rushed the game IMO. With the FPS issues and 3D, along with a lack of 'post game' stuff, it seems they needed to get it out the door.

But, they also could think the online is the main 'post game' which sucks. I don't really care about ranked battles or randomly battling other people. I suck, I just like exploring and collecting things and leveling up and evolving.

Man, Bagons take forever to hatch! I just gotta get a Naive or Jolly natured one and I'll be halfway done with a real, actual, all dragon Pokemon team for the ingame story. And I only have two badges! I figure once I have friend safari access I can use it to breed a new Bagon that will have Moxie.

Make sure you're using Flame Body in your party! Dragons take twice as long to hatch as most eggs.

My problems with the game?
-bad postgame
-it has the same problem as any pokemon edition that belongs to the first games of a new generation: it is somehow missing old features from the previous games. There is no excuse to not have again a battle zone and the World championship.
- story was silly
-game was way too easy
- region was either really small and everything was super close.

-not many new pokemon that I like.
-no trading to older gens till december
-elite 4 were a joke and have still not 6 pokemon, alsobno upgrade on their part.
-champ also way too easy.
-framerate drops
-lumiose city is such a core to be in.

But there is also some cool stuff though.

My problem with the game is lack of post-game content and areas to continue grinding/training new pokemon you catch.

Doing the restaurant battles over and over gets BORING. Why can't they bring back the VS Seeker? Seriously, that was the best addition to Pokemon EVER.
