Only beaten Elite 4 once and never did post-game stuff, so the lack of stuff doesn't affect me much.

All the fluffy new Fairy mons as well as the many adorable animations makes the game really cute :3

It's a shame the framerate takes a beating at times. Maybe they'll be able to patch it? It'd be nice to turn on 3D all the time. At least have it fixed for XX/YY/Z whatever.

My problem with the game is lack of post-game content and areas to continue grinding/training new pokemon you catch.

Doing the restaurant battles over and over gets BORING. Why can't they bring back the VS Seeker? Seriously, that was the best addition to Pokemon EVER.

For real this man writes the truth! Why did they take out VS Seeker? It was one of the best additions to Pokemon and then gone.

my god is aegislash badass. sword dance while in guard stance, beat the shit out of everyone else afterwards.

destroyed that fairy gym.

Are there round 2 gym leaders in this? These leaders are seriously super underwhelming. they really aren't much better than normal trainers.

If it's specially-focused:

Dark Pulse
Hydro Pump
Grass Knot
Ice Beam

this set + protean is amazing.
For Protean Greninja, I'm running:

Spikes
Scald
Dark Pulse
Shadow Sneak

It's Timid and Sp. Attk/Speed EV'd, so physical Shadow Sneak will be weak (although still receive STAB under Protean). But the great part about Protean Greninja are the MIND GAMES. Someone switches in to throw a Fighting-type attack your way, thinking they're going to hit your Dark-type for super-effective damage... but then you out-speed them with priority Shadow Sneak, become Ghost-type, and their attack phases right through you.

Alternatively, you know someone is going to hit you with an Electric-type move, trying to fry your Water-typing. So you toss up a layer or two of Spikes, becoming a Ground-type -- Greninja is one of the fastest spikers in the game, with proper EVs/IVs -- and BAM, you're now immune to Electric-type attacks, as well.

Scald allows you to potentially burn and reduce the enemy's attack, in addition to being a STAB 80BP 100% accurate special attack. Dark Pulse is an all-around useful special attack. Being able to change between Ground, Water and Ghost-types helps you endure Fairy.

Slap a Focus Sash on it and you'll at least last one turn to set up pesky Spikes, should your opponent just be so overwhelming in force that one move would otherwise OHKO (Greninja is a bit frail, after all).

Kk, that's what I'll go for once I breed my Froakie of choice. I already have Frogadier with Protean so it's only a matter of time, it sure is great that there is another worthy starter Pokemon.

Anyone else is only using the new pokémon in his party ?
I really like the fact that there are less monsters this time, because I have time to train them more, and so I get attached to them more.
It's also my favorite gen design-wise.

Plus the fact that the returning Pokémons seem to be some cell-shaded versions of the Pokédex 3D pro models, it's a bit less surprising when they appear.

Honestly though, the online infrastructure is so good that I can forgive low post game.
After the rich post-game content of the last few games it's hard not be underwhelmed. I'm not expecting HG/SS level of post game content but it's just so bare.

Aegislash looks to be one of the meanest pokemon ever. And there's no round 2 / rematches for this game, though supposedly they might appear in the battle mansion.

Snorlax is also badass. In the main game at least. Snorlax + Belly Drum = one deadly combo.

Snorlax is one of those pokemon that have always been good but never really changed much since their introduction and so is seeing less and less use with each gen in competitive pokemon.

For the most part, but I did sneak in Absol.

I have a very similar set but with Ice Beam over spikes. I may have to try it with spikes because man I love immuniites.

Modest Xerneas
30-31 / 30-31 / 30-31 / 14-15 / 30-31 / 30-31

Fuck you too, Xerneas.

How?

Mine are;

--Flamethrower base power being 90.
-Ice Beam base power being 90.
-Thunderbolt base power being 90.
-Surf base power being 90.
- Blizzard base power being 110.
-Thunder base power being 110.
-Fire Blast base power being 110.
-Ice type are still weak.
-only 69 new Pokémon
- No new evolution for past Pokémon.
- Not being about to use the circle pad to run.
- Mega evolution
- Only one new eeveelution.
-
Diantha being the champion.
-Elite four being at the same level and only carrying 4 Pokémon.
- The gym leaders not being involved in the story.
-Serena only having 4 Pokémon.
-no challenge mode.
-The legendary Birds being the Kalos trio.
-the Pokédex being split into 3 parts.
- Professor Sycamore's aides.
-Fairy type being a disappointment.
-Team flare grunts, they just recycled the same one and I expecting some funny moments.
-Shauna, Tierno and Trevor they filled no purpose what so ever with Shauna being the worse.
-Charizard not being able to learn Dragon Pulse naturally and learning Flamethrower so late in the game.

All of these.
Also, throw in the fact GTS is still bullshit with morons asking for legendaries for a generic Pokemon
and can't Game Chat while playing.

So i've been breeding these two Froakie's for 2 hours and a half now,

Female, Protean, HP, Atk, Sp. Atk
Male, Protean, atk, def, sp def, spd

And just now got my first Froakie with 4 perfect iv's.... this game hates me.

Are you using the destiny knot?

The RNG Arceus giveth, and he also taketh.

I love getting it right in the first batch, but then I know the next one I try to breed is going to take a day.

I haven't played Pokemon since Red/Blue was released way back in the 90's. I'm also new to GAF, but have lurked, so I have some learning to do.

I bought a 3DS XL just for this game. I am currently resetting with a Master Ball to try and get a great Mewtwo. Does anyone have advice on what Nature? I would have Mega Mewtwo X.

From my rough understanding I should be picking something that grants speed. I am looking at more of allowing him to be strong in using both psychic and fighting moves, rather than a pure "Adamant" type of build.

Last night I caught a "Jolly," Mewtwo with 5 perfect IV's, but I reset because I was afraid of commiting to a full Mewtwo X fighting build.

I'm getting so tired of farming, I have some Pokemon that have Synchronize, but I think the nature is only Modest or Timid, so I am just resetting randomly now.

tl;dr -- Any advice for a diversified Mewtwo/Mega Mewtwo X.

I think I'd put Ice Beam over Shadow Sneak. Nice set though and Spikes seems interesting. I'll certainly try it. :D

If you have any extra froakies with protean you don't want, I'll take one :D

Also, best fairy type to have on a team?

That seems like a good set-up. But I'm going for a physical greninja (jolly). Spikes and shadow sneak makes sense. I'm thinking about u-turn for another. Not sure of the 4th, though. Maybe power-up punch could get me a free attack upgrade due to the immunities given by protean? It's hard to say. His special movepool does seem much better, but he's a ninja so I want him to use physical attacks.

The restaurants having pokemon that spam protect every other turn, when under a time limit, is one of GF's bigger trolls in recent memory.

The RNG Arceus giveth, and he also taketh.

I love getting it right in the first batch, but then I know the next one I try to breed is going to take a day.

I did get lucky in the fact that the first one with 4 perfect iv's was the exact one I needed (31 hp, atk, sp atk, spd), but I really need one with that and defense since i'm also using the hasty nature.

I think I'd put Ice Beam over Shadow Sneak. Nice set though and Spikes seems interesting. I'll certainly try it. :D
Thanks. I'll try experimenting with Ice Beam over Shadow Sneak, although I love being able to give myself two immunities on the fly before my opponent even attacks (Shadow Sneak being a Ghost-type move that has priority). That makes Shadow Sneak worthwhile, despite being weak and playing off a diminished Attack stat. It's like a form change!

Nice thing about these two moves is you can always teach Ice Beam via TM and always retrieve Shadow Sneak via Move Relearner, so you don't have to give up either for good.

Hm, what's a better moveset for my Careful 252 Attack, 252 HP Malamar?

~Rest
~Sleep Talk
~Superpower
~Night Slash

or

~Superpower
~Psycho Cut
~Night Slash
~Topsy Turvy

The first one is crazy self-sufficient but can be screwed over by the randomness of Sleep Talk, and the second one has better coverage and can screw over buff-dependent foes but relies on Contrary Superpower boosts to do well.

Does anyone have any opinions on this? I'm leaning towards the second build, but I'm not entirely sure that would be ideal for her stat distribution.

May I have one of your leftovers (possibly female) when you're done? :D

All of these.

Go to options in the GTS and turn off people looking for "special" Pokemon. Though you're better off just putting up something and asking for something reasonable in return.

Found a shiny in the friend safari!

besides visuals and some nice little things, i'm thinking i enjoyed gen V waaaayyy more than xy.

Definitely feels like they were time constained. They just seem to stop caring halfway through, just slapping in gyms here and there. team flare is easily the worst baddies of the whole series. And is it just me or the amount of music tracks in this way less than other recent entries?

I've only done one Link Battle (a passerby challenged me), but I'm curious, is there any way to set up fights where legendaries are not allowed? Yesterday I battled a guy who used Mega Mewtwo Y, Yveltal and Zygarde, plus Blaziken, Lucario and Garchomp. I managed to beat him (had Yveltal myself, and my Pokémon were EV trained whereas I suspect his were not), but in the future I'd prefer to not some combination of Yveltal/Xerneas/Zygarde/Mewtwo on every team.
