Because they bumped both the processor and the display? $399 sounds about right to me.
That's a good excuse to keep the prices the same, not to raise them.
Prices for unchanged hardware should be lowering through time.

I swear, people have the exact same complaints after every single Apple event. It's either "all they did was improve their existing products" or "the new product is underwhelming." Every time.

Wait, Apple is putting out products with 256gb of ram??
...in late 2013?
Shameful.
THE STORE IS UP, PEOPLE! THE STORE IS UP!
I was actually thinking 500 for the mini 2. Those higher density screens surely not cheaper than the current iPad retina screens no?Crazy how many people predicted the new prices correctly.
iPad 2 16gb @ $400... :lol

Not too bad imo considering it has the Air specs.£320 for the iPad Mini with Retina Display, ouch.
a7 in iPad mini confirmed
This stuff was already mentioned in the keynote.Nov. 1?
Wat?
might cancel my PS4 launch for Mini lol
Not too bad imo considering it has the Air specs.
"These amazing products are great examples of the type of innovation that only Apple can deliver."
"Other companies would be incredibly proud to just have one of these products."
So far up their own arse it makes me sick. 1080p Nexus 7 is a decent tablet and $170 cheaper than Retina Mini, if Google put $170 worth of engineering into it I'm sure it would be on par if not better.
Guys, the Mini just jumped 3 generations forward... of course they would raise the price.
Am I the only one who would have preferred the same non-retina display on the mini, just with a faster chip and lighter price point? Even with a retina iPhone I can barely tell the difference when using my gen 1 mini. The pixel wars are getting absurd on small devices.
Again, do we know if it has the same ram. Also does the old mini have a6 now, because 30 dollars off a year old model is insane. Not too bad imo considering it has the Air specs.
Weird. My mini has a5x
