That is a god-like machine /drool.

Uh oh.. You non-Retina people are gonna be really mad now.

The 15" non-Retina is DEAD. All that's left is a single 13" MBP.

One more foot in the grave for optical.

Best part about this conference were the videos. Otherwise lame conference.

Was ready to buy a retina mini but I think I'll wait until next year when we will most likely get a price drop and Touch ID on these iPads. Unless I get a nice holiday bonus this year from my company.

I'll probably just get a MBP later this year and a refurb Apple TV since it doesnt look like a new one is coming out anytime soon.

That's a good excuse to keep the prices the same, not to raise them.

Prices for unchanged hardware should be lowering through time.

Yeah, but they didn't just give the Mini a single gen processor bump. They skipped one or two. That plus retina equals a higher price. Also, if anything, I think last year's was discounted because they didn't put retina in it -- which I think they should've done in the first place, had they the option.

HAMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER

Am I the only one who would have preferred the same non-retina display on the mini, just with a faster chip and lighter price point? Even with a retina iPhone I can barely tell the difference when using my gen 1 mini. The pixel wars are getting absurd on small devices.

Wow, horribly disappointed in the new iPad-- err i mean, iPad Air. I was eager to upgrade but there is no reason to.

Hopefully the name change means we'll see an "iPad Pro" in the near future.

Height: 7.87 inches (200 mm)
Width: 5.3 inches (134.7 mm)
Depth: 0.29 inch (7.5 mm)
Weight: 0.73 pound (331 g)

Mini has got slightly heavier and slightly thicker.

"These amazing products are great examples of the type of innovation that only Apple can deliver."

"Other companies would be incredibly proud to just have one of these products."

So far up their own arse it makes me sick. 1080p Nexus 7 is a decent tablet and $170 cheaper than Retina Mini, if Google put $170 worth of engineering into it I'm sure it would be on par if not better.

But Google doesnt, thats the point.

iPad 2 and iPad mini is useless, they should kill A5 powered devices.

iPad mini with Retina Display and iPad Air are killer though. Although won't be A7 for iPads a downgrade in terms of graphical perfomance, or at least the same? Where's A7X?

So I am correct in stating that the iPad Mini Retina and IPad Air are essentially the same specs except for the size of the screen? Because if that's true, the Mini is just the obvious choice for me.

You either have bad eyes or don't read alot of books/magazines on your Mini. The lack of a retina display was striking...

$399.99 for the new Mini? Fuck right off Apple. I'll stick with my Nexus 7 thanks. Also "the biggest leap forward yet! So much new, that we had to give it a new name" *specs bump with nothing new not even the fingerprint sensor*. This is a joke at this point.

Is the 'same' chip as the iPhone 5S, but has double the GPU performance. Thanks to the changes in rogue architecture, the GPU moved away from the Multicore architecture of the 5 series, so it isn't a A7X GPU or something akin but still offers a sizable jump in performance from what you find in the iPhone.

Weird. My mini has a5x

You wish. It has an A5.
