New gameplay screenshots of The Order 1886

I'm pretty excited for this game. Really glad it's not a First person view I haven't been paying too much attention because I like to go into most games a bit blind so screen low res or not confirmed for me that it will be in third person view at least.

What is a next-gen cover based gameplay?

Graphics are great but hiding behind walls doesn't look next gen :) I bet the running looks current gen too! Probably the same tired left, right, left, right ... This gen is going to really disappoint.

Isn't there an age limit on this sight?

I suspect there will be many crow eaters when gameplay is finally shown. Very interested to see how soft body physics play a role.

I suspect this as well. Of course, since this is the next gen and opens up a world of possibilities, people are going to nitpick the most minute stuff and make it sound like it looks like an Atari game.

I hope the colors will be a little more vibrant in other area's...I know this is a steampunk, dark theme world but damn, those pics are clean and all but very drab color wise...

Nope. The entire game takes place in the same area. I was disappointed too.

Looking good, but still picking a PC over a PS4. But the more great exclusive games the PS4 have the more I will have to get one at some point, still years to come.

I hope you don't ever cry about games not being seen as art.

Though I'm rarely inclined to get involved in the "are games art?" debate, I really don't see how lifting technical aspects of another medium and plonking them into videogames suddenly makes them more valid as art forms in any way. What does that have to do with anything?

Sounds like it would have ps2 gen gunplay.

Because it doesn't have the much decried cover mechanics of many current gen tps it sounds like it has PS2 era mechanics? Okay. I thought it was a lot of fun and different from the trends of the time.

I guess devs always forget to flip the next gen gameplay switch, huh.

Looks good, but nothing mind-blowing. I'll have to see gameplay in motion to properly judge. I do like the setting they are going for, so I hope it turns out well.

What if those screens are that bad because they are for free? Maybe they save up the good quality screenshots for people who pay for their digi mag?

The gun's magazine or drum-whatever is clipping through his back in nearly every screenshot and I can't stop looking at it...other than that the game looks god damn gorgeous.

Need to see it at a proper resolution. That looks no better than The Last of Us.

How is that? Not like you can scale the images, given Game Informer's shitty app.
You can see the pics in this thread and they indeed look better on an iPad. On my computer monitor, larger and the lack of resolution 'showing', it looks distinctly unimpressive for a next-gen game.

Asset wise, I'm with you, but if you look at the cloth physics, and the lighting in that dark room with the blood on the floor, it's a substantial advancement on a simulation level.

I don't know how to ascertain 'physics' from a still screen.

As for the lighting, I don't know. I guess The Last of Us was already part of the way towards next-gen because you could have told me this was a new Naughty Dog game on the PS3 and I wouldn't have doubted it for a second.

Heh, come on man, it's not even close.
I'm really not sure what you guys are seeing here.

And again, I'm sure this game looks amazing normally, but these screens are likely doing it a disservice.
