Super Mario 3D World - Introduction video

Tempted to pick up a Wii U, but shall wait that little bit longer as the PS4 launch day excitement grows.

Loving how varied the game now looks, and the power ups are also a good blend of old and new.

The graphics are also pretty special. More games like this Nintendo!

Come on, someone HAS to take that gif and edit it so the dino says "All aboard the Hype Dino!". Please.

I don't quite get all the "180" comments - this game was always a good one, but they just didn't bother to show off the more exciting parts of it

Maybe a 180 in marketing the game, but this is still the same game from this year's E3

There was no 180 : Nintendo always starts by showing the less interesting things first. I mean, look back at the very first Pokémon X and Y trailer... there's nothing impressive at all in there if you don't take into account the full 3D world novelty. Compare that to ther trailers revealed afterwards.

Of course, Super Mario 3D World is hardly the first Mario game in 3D, so it didn't have that novelty to impress people.

And glghefsjns^pkzporktg! That trailer... This is gonna be one hell of a game. I always believed in it, but damn, the last two trailers really made my hype levels skyrocket. Seriously.

Yeah that part is pretty bad. Everything else looks amazing though. Just shows that with good art direction and a nice color palette you don't need a super powerful console to make a game look good. Really does look fun and varied, too.

Yep for sure, the rest of the video looks stunning. I am actually surprised that clip made it in (and even looks like that in the game, maybe it won't!)

I'm pretty sure I might have just discovered something new about this game tucked away in the trailer...but I'll keep quiet cause if true it would be a huge spoiler.

Looks absolutely beautiful. I probably have to get a Wii U at some point in the future. Have to play that next gen Zelda!

Some of the levels do look a bit barren. But some other parts look awesome.
Some of the powerups look a bit too powerfull... Like blazing trhough the levels kind of powerful.

Anyway, will buy.

That's really a beautiful game for sure. Would love a top view zelda with this kind of production value.

Now i may have a friend who can sell me a WiiU for cheap, but i'm still hesitating.. There is still something i quiet don't feel about this mario. It's all about the power ups and i find them not really interesting ... They are rarely about platforming in my opinion...

But damn if it's pretty.

so.... I STILL CANT RIDE A SHELL LIKE IN MARIO 64!!! :O now... i am the shell? but i dont want to BE the shell... i want ALL the control that i had over that shell back!!

It's just how you say Peach in Japanese. Japanese syllables are mostly consonant + vowel combos, so you can't just say the 'ch' sound on it's own.

ピーチ (Pichi) ... which still translates to "Peach". It's just the moraic way that Japanese works (which means, as mentioned, it's basically consonant + vowels to make up a mora).
I'm well aware of the syllable thing, I learned Hiragana and Katakana by heart once, but I thought it would've amounted to Peach-uh. Like Fainaru for FF.

Looks incredible.

Like I am actually considering getting a Wii U instead of a PS4 now. Why are the graphics twice as good as Knack's? lol
Dat artstyle. While Knack looks really good in some aspects its artstyle is messy and all over the place. 3D World has a cohesive artstyle.

But let's not detoriate this thread into Mario vs Knack.

The harder this game tries to impress me the less effect it has.

Why bring gigant Mario back? It's by far the worst item in the whole series. The best super mario had to offer was it's level design and they come up with a power up that basically consist on destroying that? And they keep it for more that two games?

And what's with the froating islands? It made sense on Galaxy because each one had it's own gravity, now they ony exist to guide the player through the level without using walls (visible or not) and giving a sense of false openess. And having to press a button to run is the cherry on top that kills it completely for me.

If the Wii U gets another game on the level of this, i'm fully sold.

X
Bayonetta 2
Mario Kart 8
Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze
Zelda Wii U

That's just what we know of so far. The system will definitely have enough exclusives to be worth owning. It's just a matter of when you jump aboard really, not if.

Haha I loved shell surfing also.

There is the ice skating boot at least, that looks like fun - loved that ice skating stuff in Mario Galaxy.

Looks like pure childhood fun captured in a perfect Mario game.

Putting this away for Christmas day to open and play with the family. Something tells me this game will make for a very neglected PS4.

... Are you sure you've been playing Mario games? Like, aside from NSMB?
Out of the 2D games, only the first SMB has really appealing themes to me. SMB3 isn't bad, per se, but the sound effects that constantly override the instruments just drive me crazy.

The 3D games? I can take or leave orchestral works, to be honest. 3D Land was really the first stand-out OST to me in the series for a long time..

Super Mario is still a system seller to me but music has never been one of its strong suits to me personally. 3D World sounds no different so far.

My god, I just got out of bed and was finding it extremely hard to keep my eyes open... well, this did the trick. Can barely wait for this game man, looks like pure fun.

I am looking forward to this game even more than to any game on PS4/XBO. Looks awesome.

ZOMG, floating platforms in a 3D platformer, what a travesty! :p

I like that you think Nintendo is out to impress you personally though. At least they seem to be doing a pretty good job impressing everyone else. Sucks for you I guess. Personally, I think I can put up with the occasional mega-mushroom amid a sea of interesting power-ups and mechanics. And who gives a shit whether you use a run button? It all depends on how the levels are designed. It's a staple of the 2D Mario games which generally feel great, and as long as the levels are designed around the convention it shouldn't be a big deal. I only hope you pick up momentum a little faster than in SM3DL.
