Super Mario 3D World - Introduction video

I really hope we see the 2nd EAD Tokyo development team work on a different project after 3D World. Their too good to be limited to one franchise. It's kind of weird that the first team hasn't handled any big projects since the first Mario Galaxy game. I guess they were being used a lot to fill in for other projects.

1) No more 1-ups at flagpole.
2) Maybe too many power-ups. Honestly, the more I see, the more I wonder if the levels can be remotely balanced around them.

Still on it on day 1, of course. Actually bought a Pro Controller today in anticipation.

This game looks so good! Only way it seems limited right now is by the 8 way controls... I didn't watch the vid to the end, they don't show anything disregarding that, do they?

Eh.....I'm thinking of staying away from this. I'm already sold on this game and I'd like to avoid spoilers if possible.

I'm going on a self-imposed Mario embargo until the game drops.

Same. I haven't watched it, but I couldn't help but scroll through some of the GIFs.

Man, looks fantastic but I really hate cat Mario. :X

Still can't wait for it!

Also, the music in the video sounds really good and much better than the awful NSMB games.

Had almost forgotten why I wanted a Wii U this year.

...And then I saw this. >_< This game looks SO GOOD. Also, I haven't played a SM game since 64. Are most of these power-ups old, or new?

... you need to play Super Mario Sunshine. And Super Mario Galaxy. And Super Mario Galaxy 2. And Super Mario 3D Land.

It was decent, but those songs, nor any of the songs, did anything for me. The tracks in the 3D World video are quite a bit catchier. They seem to have re-embraced the minor key, basically, which was missing in the normal stages.

3D Land was still better sounding than anything NSMB related, but I can't say any of it was memorable. Just my opinion on the matter, really, but great music really adds a LOT to a platformer for me.

Most Mario games have unremarkable music imo.

3D Land's main theme is one of my favorite pieces in the series though.

EVERYTHING WAS AWESOME

Power-up bonanza!!!!!!!! HNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG

gimme gimme gimme gimme

I don't quite get all the "180" comments - this game was always a good one, but they just didn't bother to show off the more exciting parts of it

Maybe a 180 in marketing the game, but this is still the same game from this year's E3

*Scratches head*

At first I think I wanna buy a Sony PS4, or perhaps the new Xperia phone to replace my obsolete Blackberry (plus the fact that BBM is already available for Android/iPhone)...

....

.......but this game give me pause. Damn it.

I thought the game looked awesome at E3. I guess its because I had to initiative to you know...grasp the concept of a trailer not showing everything a game has to offer and instead just show you a glimpse. But yeah apparently they beefed up the game in a matter of 3 months and the game was shit before!

I love how this game has changed my opinion over time. I was only mildly interested when it was first unveiled, but with each subsequent trailer It has improved and looks better and better. It looks on par with a Galaxy game now, only with emphasis on other gameplay elements.

A very easy day one choice for me.

This game is gonna be so good. Do the Japanese call Toad Pinocchio?

Should be Kinopio.

Toad's Japanese name "Kinopio" appears to be a mixture of the Japanese word for mushroom ("kinoko") and the Japanese name for the character Pinocchio ("Pinokio") which both roughly blend together to form the meaning of "a real mushroom boy" (as evidenced through Pinocchio's desire to become a real boy in his own tale).
