She's still a bitch.

Rei is very strict and disciplined, while Usagi is a goofball. Rei is hard on Usagi because she thinks that Usagi needs to learn discipline, and Usagi would be the first to agree. Which doesn't mean that Usagi won't cry about it constantly and call Rei a heartless monster.

This page needs more Minako.

She's soooo in focus mode while her meatball haired doppelganger is wiggin' out cause she lacks composure!

Is there anymore of the manga left ta be released after Short Stories Vol.2 hits next month? Think I'll start re-reading it and maybe rewatching the anime for the zillionth time while we wait!

I need to ask. Where does your avatar came from? Venus is unusually..... er......... talented.

Nope, they're done. Only other things to release would be the art books.

Well, at least the new Mercury figure shipped today.....

Sorry to disappoint. :-( I just had to comment on the girls' talents...

As for the new Mercury figure.. sweet,I have her on pre-order, she can pal up with Moon and Cure White :-)

I used to watch it before school. Would have killed for it to be shown after where I lived.

Still think R is my favorite series, then Original, S, Super S and never really paid attention to Stars, only was able to find RealVideo of it back in the AOL days.

Since this thread is bumped with seemingly little to talk about anyway: I recall watching at least a bit of this show WAAAAY back when it first started coming out in the US, but I only really recall the first bit of gathering up the original team (I think I actually have a VHS that at least contains Mars' introduction), so I'd imagine I never really saw too much of it. I also just finished up reading through the manga thanks to Kodansha's recent release, and I was wondering how exactly they adapted it. I mean it's apparently 18 volumes in Japan, but they made seemingly something around 200 episodes? Is it just a ton of filler? Do they filler up the actual content and is all that adapted properly? I'd figure out myself, but unfortunately none of the US anime companies are doing what Kodansha did for the manga, so it remains ungodly expensive.

The Sailor Moon anime only takes cues from the manga in the rough sense. It's an entirely separate work for all intents and purposes.

And no, there isn't any filler. Three eps tops.

That's a bit of an understatement. There's a lot of episodes, especially in the Dark Kingdom arc, that you wouldn't lose anything from removing. They're great eps of course, but still basically monster of the week, unless a new character is introduced or its leading up to a major subordinate's death.

If you're not able to appreciate the episodic character antics, you're not much of a Sailor Moon fan. Listen to yourself. "They're great eps, but..."? No, they're great eps, period. Why skip them and lose out if they're great?

Filler doesn't necessarily mean not great, does it? It just means it doesn't advance the plot.

Plot is not the main priority of the anime. It's not even the same story as the manga. It's about being entertaining, largely through character interaction.

When you read the manga, you'll find that it has very little time for character development and interaction. Everything is pretty much serious business. It make you appreciate what the anime does, and not write off most of the show as "you won't miss anything".

I'm frustrated because it's a mental block that plagues anime fandom. If something isn't part of a multi-episode plot arc, it gets dismissed out of hand and kicked to the curb regardless of whether the episode in question is entertaining or boring on its own merita. The phrase "good filler", especially in a context where there isn't anything to fill--as all those episodes ARE the show--betrays this refusal to step back and accept a show for what it is. If something is good and shouldn't be missed, please put 2 and 2 together.

More like I've wasted too much time myself on the filler myth and similar mental blocks like purism only to find they did nothing but keep me from discovering things I'd love.

But in a show like Sailor Moon, where there is a large overreaching story, episodes that contribute nothing to that are filler. I don't think it's an insult to refer to something as "good filler" Filler is what it is, and if it's good, its good.

I would pay good money for the original series remastered in HD on bluray. Used to catch reruns as a kid, but I think I want to see them all now.

Sailor Mars was always my favorite as a kid because she had the fiercest transformation sequence. That's probably still true for me today.

Jupiter > Mercury > Mars > Uranus > Pluto > Neptune > Chibi > Moon > Venus

I loved electricity powers as a kid, so Jupiter was always my girl. Plus, she was the only character I could play in the fighting game.

The bias against filler and (primarily) episodic series is more than understandable and alluring, which makes your battle a very uphill one.

Calling the vast majority of a show "filler" is madness.
