Luckly I got three Dittos with three Perfect Ivs each in all stats. IV breeding seems so..easy now (cept if it's a stsrter taking forever to carry over it's hidden ability).
Damn, that would make it easy :p oh well, I'm still managing haha. I'm too slow to get onto anyone's list who has Ditto in their Safari so I gave up long ago lol.

GODDAMNIT. Super Single is so much bullshit. Made it round 46 before losing to a fucking Tornadus (that I could not kill with Greninja's Ice Beam thanks to lel Yache berry) and Suicune user. *Throws 3DS across the room*

I'll just...take a break to play Phoenix Wright now...

BTW, does anyone here with a non-English copy of the game have any male Pokémon with 5+ 31s? I want to try Masuda method-ing a good IVed shiny.

If it's a Pokemon that can be found in the friend Safari I recommend not using Ditto. People seem to rely on a Ditto for breeding when it's not necessary.

Catch a female in the FS that has at least two IVs that you want. Then catch two males that have the other 3, preferably without the one you don't want.

You want at least one of them to have the Nature you want. Best way is to use Synchronize when catching them. Otherwise just breed the female with any males you have of the same egg group with the nature you want - not too difficult really. Just make sure her IVs pass over.

Breed a male with the female until you get 4 on the baby. Then breed that baby with the other male (Who has 1 you want and 1 you already have). As you get babies with 3 and 4 IVs, switch out the male for one of those to increase your chances.

Faster than the ditto method and requires less luck to get the IVs you want transferred. Same species also produce eggs a lot faster.

Ditto are great since they're blank slates that can be used with anything but they're not always ideal IMO. I've IV bred tonnes of perfect pokemon and I've never used a Ditto.
I'm new to the whole competitive breeding thing (the last and only Pokemon game that I even used breeding in was Silver, and I basically just used it to get multitudes of Eevees and some of the baby Pokemon), but this was actually the approach I was leaning towards, rather than Dittos. One of the other benefits seems to be that I could still get the ball I want on the eventually perfect children.

My question is, is this method as useful for Pokemon that can't be found in the Friend Safari? In particular, I have Scyther/Scizor in mind. Would it be better to catch a number of other bug egg-group Pokemon, then breed these with a Scyther (I already have an adamant female with technician set aside), or should I simply use Dittos?

If you have the Dittos set aside with the IVs you want then I'd use them, if not it's not too hard to just grab a few male bug types that breed with Scyther and breed those. Basically either is fine but more people want access to Ditto than there are people to give access to them :p basically what I'm trying to say is IV breeding without Ditto is just as viable and easy.

OK WTF!

Regarding the roaming legendaries...
I was just cycling all over to see if I missed any items or go to areas I wasn't able to before and I encountered Moltres. I send out my first Pokemon then... it just leaves? I didn't even get a chance to do something.

Yes, that's the point.

I decided to try and breed a decent Mawile...

...I have no idea what I am doing, despite reading advice all over the tinterweb.

Which EV stat do you guys think it would be best to ignore?

EDIT: Meant IV

Yes, that's the point.
I don't get it. I skipped BW/BW2 so I'm not sure how they changed things, but shouldn't I get the opportunity to at least do one action (throw a pokeball, do a move, whatever) before it leaves? Or is this just for the first encounter?

No. It's for the first ten encounters.

Ah, OK. Thanks. I'm going to test out both methods on different Pokemon and see which seems to work quicker for me.

Awww :\

I should've played a girl avatar
I had a hunch before the game came out that the female avatar would have better customization options, and it seems I've been correct. I wish that they would've included barets, because I'm quite tired of the cycling cap (and I hate the look of all the others). I wish even more that they simply included the option to take the hat off enitrely.

Uhh, so does battling someone on your friend list only allow you to use your party? I don't see an option to do otherwise.

Sorry Busaiku, just wait a sec.

When your choosing your Pokemon it asks if you want to use your Party pokemon or Battle Box. After clicking the 3rd option on the menu that includes Bag and Pokemon List

Ahh, thanks. I didn't go further than that assuming it was going to use my party automatically.

EDIT: Wasn't asking where the Battle Box is. :p

I got so used to Get Along Very Well breeding that The Two Don't Seem To Like Each Other Much speed feels like torture.

I just completed the Kalos Pokedex last night, and the Oval Charm you get for it is the best thing ever. The game says it 'increases the chance of finding eggs at the Daycare', and I assume it bumps up the egg rate at least one stage. I've been breeding Gibles with the Lv 3 Hatching O-Power, and I'm just cranking these suckers out.

Unfortunately, Destiny Knot breeding has ruined me to the point that I find Pokes pretty much worthless unless they have at least 5 perfect IVs. I'm probably only ever going to use them in the Battle Maison, but I just can't stop at four 31s and one 20-something :P

Yeah, I figured, it just sometimes feel like the game hates me, though, lol.

Same, I breed about 200 Ralts and not a single one was shiny. -_-

I just gave up in the end.

Would this work with chain fishing?:
Fainted lead with suction cups
Second with synchronise

So you're more likely to get a bite and one with the right nature?

I don't think that will work.

For Volcarona's ability do you guys suggest Swarm or Flame Body? Kinda leaning towards Flame Body at the moment.

Flame body would be better.

Some good stuff! Tyrogue and Growlithe the main prizes for me, but Protean Froakie with SpAtk and SpDef is a nice bonus too. Kinda feel bad about trading Furfrous though, don't think I'll do that again.

No problem. :)

I want to get the Oval Charm, but I'm not sure how long it'll take to fill my Pokedex :(
Central: 109
Coastal: 90
Mountain: 96
I feel the same way about the Destiny Knot. :(

Nice team. I wanna finish all the breeding and EV training so I can redo the E4. My OG team was kind of shitty

lol, yeah, most of those 80 hours was spent breeding and EV training.

Man, I want to get my hands on a Dragalge. I still really like the idea of Poison/Dragon.

He was my Fairy-killer. A pure poison-type would have been better but I committed to using a Gen VI-only team.

Champion, get rekt.
Who was your Mega?

I think you just have to have 'seen' every Poke in the 'Dex, not necessarily have caught them. And you don't have to catch Mewtwo or the Legendary Birds to get the credit. It does take a while, though. I have a Spore/False Swipe Breloom that I used to catch everything catchable, but the real time sink is levelling up all the ones you can't catch. I've been spending a lot of time at the Battle Chateau with one high-level Pokemon and five guys I'm just levelling up with the Exp Share. The GTS makes it go a lot faster, though. I just traded to get the ones like Weavile and Gliscor that require 48BP items to evolve.

Alright, so I'm working on my 3 man team for primarily Battle Maison, and maybe later some doubles.
I've got Delphox down, and I'm HEAVILY considering Aegislash (though I haven't invested the breeding yet), so I'm wondering what my 3rd should be. Mawile? Aggron? I'm thinking one of those two, to shoo the fairies away, and Mawile would be able to take out Dragons to boot.

Well, after working on it most of today, I think I'm just gonna go ahead and settle for 31/31/18/x/31/31 on this Scyther. Not all that terrible.

Any one want some Scythers? I have 4 adamant, technician ones with 4 perfects, 1 like that with swarm, and then several with different variations of 3 perfect IVs. These things could make decent starting points if you're planning to breed Scythers soon, and I hate to just throw them out or let them rot. I'm not trying to spend a ton of time, finding people and trading them, so if any are left after around an hour, I'll probably start just wonder trading them off.

Edit: To clarify, I don't really want anything in return. It's more of a giveaway than a trade offer. And PM me just to make sure I see it.

Edit2: Pretty much gone.
