Wii U Games 2013

I just got Pikman 3 and its stunning however I was wanting to play it 2 player. I've just started really but frustrated as i cant find a 2 player mode.
How does the 2 player mode work and how do i find it? Do.i need to keep playing and unlock ir?

The only two player mode in the game is a mode called Bingo Battle. It's a competitive game where you try to fill out row on a bingo card by collecting fruit. First player to make a row wins.

It's a pretty decent multiplayer mode but I would have loved to see Co-op in the main game.

Can't you do the mission mode in CO-OP?

Deus Ex seems the better game.

deus ex. origins losing multiplayer(regardless it most likely is) and dropping all the gamepad usage from arkham city just seems like a waste. deus ex on the other hand is packed to the gills.

Go Deus Ex

Batman seems fine on WiiU (despite the obvious lack of multiplayer but atleast it's not full price) but I'd say Deus Ex is a more fulfilling experience overall, and the WiiU port is genuinely great.

I would go batman especially if you haven't played the previous ones.

But then my opinion is biased because I love the Arkham series and never really got into deus ex even though I tried.

Get Deus Ex. One of my favorite games of 2011 and seems like a good port. I don't think Origins is a good way to introduce yourself to the series. You should definitely start with Arkham Asylum if you have the chance.

Thanks for the replies!

Deux Ex it is then

Batman probably when gets cheaper.

So how are the Most Wanted U online functions? I'm asking because my connection is a bit unreliable and seeing how you need to make account(s?) to allow online on Most Wanted U I just want to know what I would get for my troubles.

The game looks gorgeous by the way. Especially the wet asphalt.

If it's anything like the PC version, expect to get disconnected from Autolog about every 5 minutes :p

Came across this 360/U comparison video for AssCreed4.

This can't be legit. Right?

RIGHT??

For those who can't watch it, the alleged Wii U frame rate chugs like fuck and flat out freezes for seconds at a time at a few points. Drastically worse than anything we've seen in any other port to date.

There's no way it can be that bad...

nah. I think it was a problem with the video stream of the WiiU version.
The WiiU version looks much better though(apart from the "lag"). didn't expect that.

Yeah, that's what I'm hoping. The Wii U version does look a bit better in terms of iq imo. But i REALLY hope there are just issues with the stream.

EDIT: Yeah, reading through the review thread it doesn't seem like anybody is saying anything about issues in the Wii U version; so it's probably just an issue with this guy's capture.

So for my Wii U I have:

MH3U
Pikman 3 (not yet played)
W101 (not yet played)
Luigi U
Warriors Orochi
Tekken

I plan on getting:
3D World
Wii party U
Wii Fit U

Anything I should get? eShop game suggestions welcome.
NB: I don't like Splinter Cell, Assassin's Creed games or the Arkham games.

And for the games I've not yet played; I'm waiting for my boyfriend who lives elsewhere to play with me.

Pikmin 3 is really great. I would definitely get NSMBU if you enjoyed Luigi. It's going to be a bit strange going from NSLU to NSMBU but it's a great and a bit more expansive of a game. I would strongly recommend Nintendo Land for single and multiplayer and it's available for cheap now. eShop-wise, Toki Tori 2+ is stellar. Bit.Trip Presents Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien is great. The Cave has been fun so far, although I think it's a bit on the short side. Did you own a Wii/previous Nintendo systems? There are plenty of Wii and VC recommendations to make if not.

Guys, I don't know where to ask this, but which is the best screen protector for the GamePad? Preferably from Amazon.

I'm worried when others are using it, they're really pressing it down, and I'm afraid of scratches etc.

Definitely tell them to be careful with it, well worth risking sounding like a jerk for a second rather than having to replace your GamePad.

I haven't purchased a screen protector, but this one seems quite well reviewed:

ETA: this one seems pretty well regarded too:

I've not played anything great on eShop yet. With Pikmin 3 and MH3U you've got probably the best Wii U games. NSMBU is worth getting, dunno how it compares to Luigi since I've not played that yet. And Wind Waker is pretty nice.

Oh, and Nintendo Land! Especially if you've got a few friends and Wii Remotes. You might wanna consider that over Wii Party U, since it's so cheap and so, so good.

I have this screen protector on my Wii U. It was a bit tricky to apply -- no air bubbles but I can never avoid catching a piece of dust or two underneath these things and then that tiny black speck is there forever. It does show smudges and fingerprints more than the unprotected screen, and collects dust as well, so it needs to be wiped often.

Other than that it is very good -- I don't know how badly it's needed but I doubt you'll find anything better than Hori.

ETA: Nintendo makes an official screen protector as well. it wasn't available when I got mine but if I were to buy one today I'd probably be inclined to use that.

I would say Luigi is overall harder and just as good, albeit a bit shorter given the level lengths and lack of other modes (especially challenge mode). Wind Waker is great, I second that recommendation if you haven't played the original or are eager to replay the game.

BTW kitsuneyo, have you tried Runner or Toki Tori 2+?

No. Runner I assumed is super hard, Toki Tori 2+ I would consider. I just don't have enough time for all these games though. I'm midway through WW and W101, and have Monster Hunter on the go as well.

Which is the better of the two?

What up, Wii U-ers?

I'm thinking of getting Luigi U to hold me over till SM3DW. Is it worth $20 for the DLC? (Already got the main game).

Also, I played the original mostly in co-op with my wife. Does Luigi U's multiplayer hold up?

Its hard. Nabbit will make it easier for coop players but still its really hard.

That said def. Worth it.

Yeah Luigi U is definitely worth the asking price. If you even remotely liked NSMBU then go for it without second thought. Just be aware that it's actually somewhat harder than NSMBU (although this is compensated with the fact that it has shorter levels) and it doesn't introduce that much to the table in terms of new gameplay elements. You can use Nabbit in the game. He doesn't take hits from stage hazards or enemies but can't use power-ups.

personally i would recommend runner. I love rhythm games. And it's not hard on easy difficulty.

Toki Tori +2 is a great game as well, especially if you like puzzles.

I would say...if you like rhythm games; runner...if you like puzzle games; toki tori

Honestly, the smaller levels really appeal to me. I liked NSMBU, but the I preferred to play it in bite-size chunks. Nabbit sounds like a good co-op partner.

Lego City Undercover. From eshop I recommend Trine 2, specially if you want to play together with your boyfriend.
Also you should definitely try the challenges in Pikmin 3 (both single and co-op) and Rayman Legends (both single and co-op).

TO avoid air bubble turn on the hot water in the bathroom and let it steam up. Then apply the protector in there. The steam weighs down any dust and dirt.

Runner isn't hard, only if you're going for 100%.

Agreed. It's a terrific game. I would only say have your co-op player use Nabbit if they're not terribly adept at the game; it really does make the game much, much easier for the player using him.

This about sums it up. Both games present a reasonable level of challenge. Just depends on what kind of game you like better, really. Keep in mind Runner is an auto-runner.

Multiplayer is fun, but single player relies heavily on a connection as well. I'm sure I remember reading that people were disabling network to keep framerate at a maximum.

@Patchkid15, got a couple of questions about the wiiu version of black flag.

Q1: Can you set waypoints on the map(on the gamepad screen)?, i know its supported in the companion app. But i would prefer to just make waypoints via the touchscreen of the controller (if thats supported ofc).

Q2: Any framerate issues with the game?, AC3 had a couple of hickups here and there and would like to know of those issues are ironed out.

@marcel2552

In regards to question one, you cannot set waypoints on the map using the GamePad screen. The only map feature available using this screen while in gameplay is zooming in and out. To access waypoint settings you need to open the map with the (-) button.

As for framerate issues, there may have been one instance when I was being chased down by roughly 30 guards, as there was tons of action going on, on the screen. Other than that, it has seemed pretty flawless.

I thought I could set waypoints in AC3 on the gamepad, but I could be wrong. If not it's no dealbreaker, because by far the best use of the gamepad to me was just the fact that you had an always accessible larger version of the minimap. The HUD minimap is much less useful much of the time.

Anyway, good to hear about the frame rate. I guess that guy's stream was just lousy. Wonder if DF will ever get to a full comparison; they've got their hands full with this BF4 debacle now, eh? When they do do a comparison, I wouldn't be shocked if they leave out the Wii U version.

so painful, i tried the steam trick too with ok results. is the speck close enough to the edge to lift it up and sticky tape the speck out??

it's about a third of the way in... I suppose I could try but in all likelihood I'd just make it worse. I've just come to accept this is life with a screen protector. First world problems and all that.

The levels in NSLU are shorter but they're way harder than the NSMBU ones. You'll lose tons of lives trying to get those star coins. It is a punishing and sometimes frustrating game but the feel once you beat the levels is priceless

Secret Project??!

Mario and Sonic at the Oympics Sochi 2014 website is live.

The game looks quite good. There is online challene and there is also a sport quiz part. Who`s doing the OT for this?

Is there any anticipation that the WiiU will be discounted for Black Friday? I really want a zelda one but I'm not sure if they'll be a cheaper version come black friday.

Looks like a lot of fun, thanks for the link! I think I'm really only interested in the online mode, though, so I don't think I'll pick it up anytime soon.
