Wii U Games 2013

I had no idea Watchdogs got delayed.

Happier I got a WiiU and left the PS4 idea for another year or two now!

A quick question, Do I need a wii mote and nunchuck for any WiiU game or can I stick with the game pad and the controller?

Wii controllers are not mandatory for Wii U games, but they are generally recommended for some (like Pikmin 3.) Other than that, you're definitely able to stick to the GamePad and Pro Controller if you want to.

If you get it for cheap, yes. Beside the fact that it is FIFA 12.5, it is actually quite nice. And the Gamepad implementation is good. The shoot guidance using the touch screen is nice as an alternative way to score, but even better is the ability to guide the other players and send them running balls. I still play it from time to time.

I figured it would be what I was after, but its always nice to get a second opinion before giving your money to EA....

You don't "need" a Wiimote and Nunchuk. But you "need" a Wiimote and Nunchuk if you know what's good for you :D (like playing Pikmin 3 the superior way and having it available for local mp titles)

I can just confirm his description.
It is annoying to see it's 12.5 FIFA, but I found it enjoyable for the Gamepad uses, and I still boot it up sometimes.

I think the one that isn't coming is Odd World: Munch's Oddysee HD. The developer said it back in August. The reason given is that the game is based on old tech and it was a pain in the butt to do it for the other consoles, so they don't to add the game to another platform. However, Wii U is still getting New 'N' Tasty and apparently Stranger's Wrath HD.

Here's my question, what the fuck happened to F1 Race Stars in NA (and EU apparently) and that Dirt game for Wii U we never saw? :/

F1 Wii U came out in JAPAN, that's ridiculous.
 
Sonic Lost World should be under Recommendations. It's a very underrated title IMO. Shame some people won't play it because of the reviews.

Shame that Nintendo and/or Sega decided against bringing the demo to west. There's simply too much games available for purchase to justify paying 30€+ for something as controversial as this.

They could always bring the demo post launch a la ZombiU. Apparently demos released AFTER the initial launch sales can help sales while pre-launch demos can actually hurt.

deus ex. origins losing multiplayer(regardless it most likely is) and dropping all the gamepad usage from arkham city just seems like a waste. deus ex on the other hand is packed to the gills.

Go Deus Ex

Batman seems fine on WiiU (despite the obvious lack of multiplayer but atleast it's not full price) but I'd say Deus Ex is a more fulfilling experience overall, and the WiiU port is genuinely great.

I'd agree with that. The Wonderful 101 demo actually turned me off the game a bit and I almost decided against it. If it had come out after, I could picture people who had dismissed the game to have a renewed interest.

The Rayman demo coming out in February (for a September game!) and the Challenges App may be another example. Perhaps some gamers already had their fill of the game by then?

I think demos may actually serve better for a second marketing push. Of course when there are so few demos (and some randomly disappear like Runner2 and Rayman), anything with a demo should garner more attention at any point by default.

Let me know how these work. I usually read about the IR sensor not working as well on these third party controllers. Also, does it need to be recalibrated more often?
 
I'm a big fan of buying the cheapest possible option, but there are some things in life where it pays to spend money.


Vacuum Cleaners and Wiimotes, for example.

Yeah, the 3rd party Wii remotes are garbage. Motion plus doesn't work properly half the time, and the IR is jittery often as well.

Hell, watch out for fake "genuine" accessories from places like ebay or even amazon too. Just as bad if not worse.

Protip: If you're getting a "new" "genuine" Wii remote plus for under $20, it's almost certainly counterfeit.

Right on! When I first got my Wii U I spent good money on two generic remotes that didn't even work. I then bought one new remote from Nintendo, and I've had great luck buying used remotes online.

Guys, there's like a zillion unused Wiis out there. That means like two zillion unused remotes floating around. Most of them work just fine and can be had for a song if you don’t mind owning a used remote.

I would go batman especially if you haven't played the previous ones.


But then my opinion is biased because I love the Arkham series and never really got into deus ex even though I tried.

Get Deus Ex. One of my favorite games of 2011 and seems like a good port. I don't think Origins is a good way to introduce yourself to the series. You should definitely start with Arkham Asylum if you have the chance.
