what does "flawless" mean?
Hmm, would have to switch to something that would absorb that then, kill Scizor and use Carbink later. Good to know he'd be fine going up against any other lead Pokémon, though. The thing with Pokémon is nobody could come up with a single team that wouldn't have some glaring mismatch right out of the gate. No team is completely safe, which is why the huge benefits to potentially reap from Carbink make him as worth a look as any. The tricky part is just figuring out how to find a good specimen -- whether giving up Sturdy to breed high-IV Clear Bodies would be fine. Hmm.
Just had a guy rage quit me because my RestTalk Gyra was dominating his MegaZard Y. The big question is who runs MegaZard Y without Solar Beam? Guy also had Cut of all things on it. Clearly had no clue what he was doing.
As long as Carbink can last one turn, he will have fulfilled his purpose. That's enough to get in a screen or Stealth Rock. Under many circumstances, he can last a couple turns, which means two screens or a screen and Stealth Rock. Or Trick Room, if that's what you're running.Anything with Flash Cannon will probably kill him. More likely is a lead Metagross with Meteor Mash (if anyone even still does that), but that would probably not OHKO - 2 or 3hko the Carbink.
I'd question the usefulness of sturdy at first too. But you aren't missing out on much by ignoring clear body (lowering stats is rare, even rarer if you don't count intimidate). And with any 4x weakness, a ohko is a very real possibility anyway. As long as Carbink can last one turn, he will have fulfilled his purpose. That's enough to get in a screen or Stealth Rock. So the main threats are:
1) If the other team's lead Pokémon has Taunt and higher speed and/or Prankster
2) If the other team's lead Pokémon has a strong enough Steel-type move to OHKO a Carbink without Sturdy
Sturdy would thus be ideal, but whether it's absolutely necessary, I'm not sure. Carbink might be able to survive most leads for at least two turns, by virtue of 300+ HP, 400+ Defense and mid-300 Sp. Def with an EV spread of 252 HP (base 50) / 132 Defense (base 150) / 126 Sp. Defense (base 150).
Played my first 4 players match, it was super fun, I know what I'll be devoting the next 100 hours.
I got some, if you are willing to wait. Won't be home for a few hours.Does anyone have any female gale wings Fletchlings? I don't care what iv's it has. I'll have some adamant speed boosts Torchic's I can trade tonight in return.
Please explain, I saw a multi battle in Battle Maison. Is it like that? I thought that was only if you were within infrared distance?
It's like a normal online battle, but instead of selecting "2 player match" you have to choose 4 players and then proceed to select them.
You don't.How the hell do you teach Giga Drain to Volcarona in this game? :/
I wanna get in on this.
Do one with me after I send Neteio these eggs!

Hmm... what'd be a better use of my Mega slot? Modest Mega Gengar or Jolly Mega Tyranitar w/ Dragon Dance? I'm torn.
Cool, just send me a PM later.Yea, it'll be later tonight when I can get online as well, so that's fine.
so 255 on the important stats?Perfect IVs in all necessary stats.

Holding back the Move Tutor for Z (assuming that's what has happened) makes me sad.

You don't.
How do I transfer Pokemon from previous Pokemon games?
Maybe Focus Sash as the Hold Item, then. Giving up Light Clay means three less turns where Reflect/Light Screen will be up, which when Carbink suicides will mean three turns remaining to take advantage of it. But maybe for a sweeper such as Mega Mawile with Huge Power, that's all he needs to set up Swords Dance and sweep a couple turns.I'd question the usefulness of sturdy at first too. pshh using overpowered pokes is soo mainstream
real men use the weird pokes

Those are EVs (maxes out at 252 now).
IVs you get from inception.
You don't need to worry too much if you don't care about the competitive aspect.
C'mon Tiamant!
In practice it would probably wouldn't try to set up both screens, the way I'd use it; I'd set up the screen that protects the weak point of whichever sweeper is waiting in the wings. So there's no risk of eroding one screen while setting up another. Still, three less turns is three less turns. I'm just saying Focus Sash is an option if OHKO enemy leads were to be an issue against a non-Sturdy Carbink. Thing is, I don't think you can pass on Hidden Abilities when breeding genderless Pokémon, so getting a Sturdy Carbink with the right IVs would be a crap shoot, to say the least.Real men use trick room teams, basically?
I'm down with that.
EDIT: You sound like a man that would appreciate sigilyph. Would you like one with 4-5 perfect IVs?
I'd say Light Clay is too important for the dual screens. Although if the opponent has a Defog user, they might not last that long regardless.

Hmm? No, I mean you should go with sturdy. The other ability isn't really worth it, imo.Maybe Focus Sash as the Hold Item, then. PM sentI have almost 2 boxes of 2-3 iv timid protean froakies if anyone wants one, just pm me.
I have 10 or so 4 ivs, and a 5 or two, but I'd ideally like to trade those for some other 4-5 iv if possible.
Wonder trading all these torrent ones is an experience in and of itself, though I did get a 4 iv modest japanese larvesta, so that was kind of cool. Plus, it's a lot of rare candies.
Sturdy is definitely superior to Clear Body in my opinion. It would help you survive the odd Steel attack, while allowing you to keep your screens for longer. It's definitely an interesting build. I know that I had a lot of fun with Carbink when I had it in my story party. If it ever evolves, Carbink is going to stall everything. In practice it would probably wouldn't try to set up both screens, the way I'd use it; I'd set up the screen that protects the weak point of whichever sweeper is waiting in the wings.
