The NPCs are secretly the bulk of the game's story, the main plot is just to have something to drive along.

Yeah, which is why it annoys me when people say that Pokémon doesn't have a story when it does.

HG/SS already saved Johto!

Not really, Heart Gold and Soul Sliver still suffers from design flaws that exists in the original.

All the remake did was added the Kanto area that was removed in the original, but without really fixing anything.

Who does this bitch from the Pokemon Day Care think she is?

I left my Eevee to try to breed it and bitch goes and overrides baby doll eyes. Now I can't evolve it into Sylveon and don't have any eevees because I didn't know only the female determines the species. I rage-wonder traded it and turn off the game for today. >:(

Eevee gets charm at Level 29 though you will miss out on Draining Kiss, Sylveon only decent fairy attack until its get Moonblast but there's a move relearner in the game.

Oh wow, just walled the hell out of a tentacruel/M-mawile/imposter ditto team with rest/sleep talk mega aggron. Was lucky that I was able to burn the M-mawile though.

If anybody wants to watch, the video would be ZH2G-WWWW-WWW2-52SD

What are some good steel types? Noticed my collection doesn't have any steel types, and I think one grass type.

I'm using Metagross in my team. He has very high defense, i put the Assault Vest on him to increase his special defense too (the only thing i've found that cleans him out in 1 hit is a powerful fire attack with drought support e.g. MegaZard Y).

With such a crazy high attack stat, Meteor Mash is so good - OHKO on most fairies. He isn't that fast, but with a bit of EV investment in Speed he is able to outspeed a lot of the other heavies. I have Bullet Punch for when i need a priority hit in.

Metagross @ Assault Vest

- Meteor Mash (powerful STAB attack, bye bye fairies)
- Zen Headbutt (additional STAB coverage)
- Bullet Punch (for the aforementioned situations where you need a quick hit in)
- Hammer Arm (versus other Steel types, and Dark Types which he is weak too)

Does anyone here have Dittos in their friend safari? I really need to add someone with Dittos in their friend safari because I'm going crazy trying to get dittos with perfect IVs in the Pokemon Village...

I remember I played the fuck out of Red and Silver back in teh day. I've returned with X and for some reason I'm feeling waaaaay overwhelmed. I'd have thought it would be a bit easier lol.

Either way I'm enjoying the hell out of this game.

Are there any good guides for breeding and Pokemon locations?

Decided to try to breed a perfect mon...

Starting with Safari mons, it took me 136 eggs to succeed. Coincidentally, both of the final two eggs had at least five 31s. I had 3 wrong-natured perfect IV mons and 2 mons that had special and physical attack IVs opposite of desired.

This game counts your in-game time while in a WiFi enabled service like GTS while it doesn't using the 3DS Activity Log. It's weird.

Anyway, I got my first Lv100:

Terrible moveset though and stats lol

I started breeding Froakie earlier today, beginning with a Protean Friend Safari Frogadier and an Azumarill I had used near the beginning of the game. Both had random natures.

A couple dozen eggs later, I have a 31/x/31/31/31/31 Torrent male and a 31/x/31/x/31/31 Protean Timid female sitting in the daycare. It shouldn't be long now.

Randoming a tri-flawless Timid Protean female after 8ish eggs certainly helped. Woo random chance.

Guys, Everstone ONLY inherits the nature, right? Not the ability?

Correct.

It's fun bulldozing through Y with a set of specially-made pokemon. Mega Mawile, Gallade with choice scarf and Protean Greninja (with Ice Beam,Grass Knot, Surf and Dark Pulse) are wrecking shit with zero effort, EV trained Mega Charizard Y is just Icing on the cake. I wanted to raise a Golurk too but I think it'd be redundant at this point,

Can I get someone to do a trade with me to evolve my Scyther? :3

If you still need someone I'm on.

Moved onto eevees, and god, having a 50/50 m/f ratio is sooo much better for breeding compared to Froakies 87.5/12.5.

Good luck, it took me 50 or so eggs past that point, though I think the RNG getting revenge for the 3 shiny skrelp in >20 chains each.

So is Magician any good? I don't have a Fennekin safari but Protean has overshadowed the other two abilities. Bulletproof blocks a lot of good moves and would completely wall Gengar if it didn't have Sludge Wave and Dazzling Gleam. I'm not even really sure about the mechanics of Magician.

So how drastic an improvement is a "perfect" pokemon vs a regular? The IV difference is only a few stat points, right? It doesn't affect stat increases as they level? Like, my newly born Chespin with 6 stats across the board is near identical to a Chespin with 6 in all stats but 5 in one, right?

Well it depends on what stats they use. If your Pokemon has zero special attacks then your special attack stat isn't important at all. IVs only matter in SERIOUS ASS MATCHES and even then strategy will win out every time... except when it doesn't.

With a bit of luck I managed to score a pretty sweet Tyrogue through a trade. How can I make really, really sure it evolves into Hitmonchan? It's got an Adamant nature which has me worried

IV's contribute up to 31 points to a stat at level 100. While 27-31 isn't a big deal unless it's in a pinch, having something in the range of 10+ points has a big effect on performance. Ideal IV's are great but having a little less than perfect isn't the end of the world.

Yes. Presumably a perfect IV Pokemon will have about 15 more points in each stat at level 50 than an "imperfect" one, so don't let it bother you. I'm happy with two or three perfect IVs. Good team planning does the rest of the work.
