Teams of

Mewtwo, Xerneas, Garchomp, Blaziken, Talonflame, Yveltal

Are just not interesting to fight. Pretty much every passerby that has challenged me has had this kind of set up or similar.

Same. When I fully finish my team I expect to not have any great battles >.<

how many of these people using Xerneas are running Power Herb+Geomancy
just for a rough estimate of the scrub % online
None that I've seen yet, I have a feeling most of them have been pretty clueless about the mechanics of the game and just tried to get all the legendaries and starters in one team.

Yeah it's a shame. Between this, battle spot only pairing me with OP Japanese players and none of the GAFers on my list ever accepting battle invites I'm getting a bit disenchanted with the online features.

Well Ive got six trained mons I could use for a full battle now. I'll definitely need to switch a couple out to patch up all the holes. It'll be fun when I actually feel confident enough with a team to do something other than 3v3

Guys, I have reached the IV judge though I don't really know what he means. Is there a good resource/break down of what his cryptic sentences mean?

This picture breaks it down some.

I had a couple of prett sick battles last night with a couple of passerbys (made a game winning read against an Aegislash, can't stand that thing. Instant 50/50s). My spot record sucks because I only play in the middle of the night with Japanese people, and Talonflame murders me.

I always ask for battles on GAF, but hardly anyone ever takes me up on any. I think I've battled like 2 GAFfers total.

My team is the best.
Pikachu, Flareon, Carbink, Goodra, and Mawile.

wat

yeah.....that's what I figured
probably clueless scrubs that can be cleaned up with a decent team, particularly with plenty of switching (lol)

omg this is bullshit.

I've been breeding Calm Ralts.

Finally got one with 31 IVs in HP, Def, SpA, SpD, Spe. I had a feeling it would have Synchronize instead of Trace (which I wanted since tracing abilities like Flash Fire or Intimidate is freaking awesome)

It had Sychronize. And it's female so I can't use it as a parent.

Pikachu is awesome. Light Ball boosted Thunderbolts hit hard.

Go get 200BP and buy an Ability Capsule :P

Use the incredibly costly Ability Capsule?

There's the ability switching item, but it's so expensive I don't really know if it'd be any faster than just breeding another one. =/

you have to set up Pikachu perfectly or else it dies to a breeze, in which case there are better sweepers anyway

I mean it's cute and all having Pikachu sweep stuff, but that basically relies on your opponent being complete shit (which tbf, is the case for non-ranked battles)

Frick I thought I had enough BP to buy a Ability Capsule so I can try it out. I forgot I bought a LIfe Orb, all Choice Items, Focus Sash..... argh.

I've never used one before. So it's a limited use item to be used on the field that can switch the two abilities around? If it's not a perma change, it's useless to me.

No, it's a permanent change and you can use it outside of battle. I used it on my Marill to give it Huge Power lol.

Why cant you use it as a parent? Your female raltz has all those IVs too?

Alright, finally caught an immunity gligar.

Is it guaranteed that this gligar will pass on its hidden ability with breeding?

looking for breeding rejects in the forms of:

- Mawile
- Larvitar
- Gible (w/ Outrage)
- Gligar
- Abra/Staryu/Swinub
- Carbink

PM me if you have any of these guys please!

Can someone give me a quick primer on some pokemon roles in competitive play and some pokemon that fall into those categories? I'm brand new to competitive battling, just been breeding a team I think would be good.

In particular, I'm wondering about wallers, stallers, and utility pokemon. Pretty sure I understand sweepers. And I'm not sure of any others. Just want to get some more clarification so I can build a badass team.

And I'd rather not be directed to smogon... Their website is overwhelming, hell, even the descriptions they give aren't very clear to me lol. Just want someone on GAF to break it down for me! Thanks :D

No guarantee, it's a random chance (and not a very high one).
If it's the female the chances are fine. I've never had issues passing on hidden abilities from females, although there are of course the few babies that get the regular abilities mixed in there.

Hmm, read on serebii that males do have a small chance of passing it down.

Oh well, at least it'll be less headache inducing than trying for another female immunity gligar.

I'm going to be breeding it for a female one anyway to go for egg moves.

Honestly I think outrage won't be as well used cause of Fairy. Lawl.

Outrage is still useful, you just have to predict correctly. Plus, I don't think that Outrage continues if it doesn't work.

Use Outrage ----> Opponent Switches to Fairy ----> Outrage Fails -----> Switch Pokemon/Poison Jab

Correct me if I'm wrong?

yes you're right
since nobody answered the last two times: is anyone doing rated battles here?

Hmm what if it's klefki?

Anything new about those 3 leaked event Pokémon?

#719 Rock/Fairy Diancie
#720 Fire/Water Volcanion
#721 Psychic/Ghost Hoopa

I hate to wait. :P
