Battlefield 4 PC performance thread

i5-2500k

8gb ram
SSD
Win8.1

Game runs extremely smooth, with mixture of high and max settings, pretty steady at 60fps. Looks great to boot.

i've been informed by the console comparison thread that you're full of shit and no way is anyone getting anything like a steady 60fps with that card at those settings.

sorry to break it to you like that, you must be devastated.

Any 570SLI performance numbers yet?

The beta had horribly broken SLI support for some reason with GPU utilization a constant 40% or so.

4 GB GTX 680
i5 3570k @ 4.5ghz
12GB RAM
Windows 7

1080p, all ultra HBAO 2xMSAA high post AA pretty solid 60fps in campaign and MP. The game will not run longer than 5 or so minutes though before it crashes.

gtx 670 ftw OC
i5-2500k OC
8gb ram
Windows 8.1
latest drivers

Game runs great at 1080p with everything maxed out, except @ 2xMSAA and using SSAO. Getting pretty consistent 60 fps. Very pleased!

Beautiful game :).

from mr "cinematic analogue sticks" dark10x?

i'd take it as a badge of honour.

Anybody try the new 331.65 Nvidia drivers? See any performance boost for BF4?

Yeah, I was wondering about this too.

Man, I'm also super curious to see how the mobile people are running this. My 680m is a beast of a laptop card but still, it's no 680 or 7950 so I'm still torn between this version or the PS4 one.

My performance in the beta was unplayable.

i5 3570k Ivy, Crossfire HD7850 @950MHZ, Windows 7.

Is it worthwhile me buying the full game?

I recently just bought a graphics card and glued it to the inside of the case, how can I play this game?

On the inside of the case you probably have those nice trays where you can put in a game by folding the case double, after that just put a cup with coffee in the holder on the outside that you get by pressing a button and voila, you can game.

I'd like some proof, then. Should be easy enough to provide.

I find it hard to believe that someone is achieving better results with less powerful hardware. That doesn't exactly make a lot of sense.

It's not like I would play BF4 with a gamepad, though. Come on.

Beta performance was patchy as hell for me, it was all over the place from 30-45fps. In BF3, I could manage a good mix of High/Ultra with no AA and have a steady 55-60fps.

i7 2600K
GTX 560Ti
16GB RAM
SSD

Any point in me going for the PC version or should I pick this up with my launch PS4? I have no real preference when it comes to controller vs. kb/m.

Sounds like you and me are very much in a similar position and I keep going back and forth on what to do, especially with friends playing on both versions.

i5 2500k OC, 6970, 8GB, Windows 7. Beta was all over the place but launch build is better for W7 users. I think I'm getting a copy of Windows 8 here soon as well so that might help.

I just want my 1080p and hope for "High-ish" settings.

Which AMD driver delivers the best performance at the moment? Anyone tried the latest 13.11 beta 7 with BF4?
Would be nice if there was some info in the OP about AMD drivers as well.

Intel Core i5 3570,
12gb DDR3 1800mhz Kingston,
GF GTX670,
128GB SSD OCZ VERTEX 4
1TB HDD WD x3 (game installed on second)
Win7 x64

Game runs around 60-70fps on all-ultra with 2x MSAA. FPS is smooth, dropped below 40 only in fontaine plaza in Shanghai

Hell, i was VERY surprised after quite laggy beta

anybody tried messing around with the .exe's ? I have a feeling x86 is working smoother for me than x64, but that may have been depending on the servers I was joining last night ...

in Origin, right-click on BF4 and select game properties to force either

game is very smooth once the server works properly; 1080p Ultra (except deferred AA) @ well over 90 fps usually

CPU usage is pretty damn high, looks like DICE have been focusing on improving multithreading! And I haven't checked with any tools but SLI seems to work fine as well.

i7 2600K @ 4.8 , GTX670 2GB SLI @ 1215/3800 , 16 GB , SSD , Win 8.1

I'm running Windows 8.1 with the latest beta drivers but it's nowhere near BF3 levels of performance.

Sold my "gaming laptop" and building a PC instead. The last bit (my motherboard) should be arriving today. i7 4770k + 280x + 8gb RAM. Hopefully that should do well enough on this game

I dunno if it's the newest nvidia drivers or just optimizations from beta, but the game seems to run much better. I can enable 4xMSAA now while still maintaining ~50-60fps at 1080p with Ultra settings. Really happy with the performance. I was planning on upgrading to a 780 but it doesn't even seem worth it now, 4GB 760 OC runs the game just fine.

Performance is great for me (mixture of high and ultra, 2x MSAA, 1920 x 1200), only occasional hitches bring the framerate into the 50s in 64 player servers. My i7 930 has proven to be an unstoppable beast!

HD 7970 1125/1575
8GB DDR3 1600
i7 930 @3.9 Ghz
Windows 7

I'm considering Windows 8.1 for the potential gains but the thing that seriously holds me back the most are the potential Dark Souls GFWL Windows 8 issues.

Windows 8.1, 3570K at 3.8, GTX 770 OC edition, 8 gigs of ram 1600 and 144hz monitor.

Averaging in the 80s to 90s with AA turned off and everything else at Ultra. 1080P monitor and latest drivers.

The internal "benchmark" or whatever they are calling it. is worthless.

Would be nice if there was some info in the OP about AMD drivers as well.

I ran the 13.11 beta v7 drivers and the game performed like ass with stuttering everywhere. I would stay at 13.9 if you have crossfired 7970s.

Really want to purchase this but I could not even launch the beta when it was up because it kept freezing during loading. Anybody with similar specs to mine that can give me an idea of performance I'll get?

Win7
i5-2500k
16gb DDR3 2133
2x GTX 570

Is there a 1080p/ultra @ 60fps in my future? I don't mind turning down or off AA to achieve it.

Anyone having trouble with the new 331.65 Nvidia drivers?

I am starting to get crashes now but I am not sure if it driver related or not.

I have very similar specs and I'm planning to play BF4 on it until Maxwell. I do not expect 1080/60 at ultra even without AA.

You will definitely be able to play at 1080/60 if you turn some things down like shadows and post processing. The 570 is a good card with a wide bus, but limited vram means it's had its day for me.

Thanks riflen. I guess that doesn't sound too bad, maybe I'll just play around with the settings until it's perfect. Are you also running SLI?

HBAO really looks bad in this game, i wish i could use HBAO+ :(

So much this! Also HBAO+ not only looks better, it's faster!

I'm running at i7 3770K @ 4.5 Ghz and two GTX 680's in SLI. With shadowplay running in the background and SSAO (HBA murders my frame rate if I have Vsync on) and at 2560x1440p. 2x MSAA + High PostAA, everything else set to ultra and I'm getting a smooth 60 FPS with dips into the 40's only twice so far in the single-player.

Man this game looks ridiculously good at times.

I am playing OK on 331.65. I do get a bit of lag or what I call "Battlefield judder", alt-tabbing out and back into the game fixes it. Overall the game seems about as smooth as BF3, not silky smooth like 60fps should be, but noticeably above 30fps.

BF4 always crashes when I launch the MP or the SP.

I've tried :

-Updating GPU drivers and integrated drivers.
-Updating Punkbuster.
-Running the Origin repair on the BF4 install.

Any ideas?

Have you tried both .exes? Some are having trouble with the x64 one and the 32-bit clears it up.

Haven't had the chance to play the game at all on my PC. Anyone running similar spec? Would like to know what kind of results I could achieve.

I can't wait to see what gains the Mantle update brings. If I can just get 20-30% better performance, I should be able to have max Ultra settings with a consistent 60+ fps with my 7970.

It does compare to MP beta?

I actually had decent performance during the beta compared to most. I'm seeing maybe a 10% gain personally. I never had the CPU bound hitching that many others experienced. Based on what we heard from repi on twitter, HT may have saved me the pain others were suffering.

Possibly a noob question....

How exactly are you guys keeping track of CPU/GPU Usage & SLI Scaling?

I was using MSI-Afterburner to keep track of everything, but since it does not support 64bit :( I am unable to use my usual on-screen display through riva tuner to watch this information.

I feel so lost, without my MSI After burner OSD.

Right click BF4 in Origin and click Game Properties, change When launching this game to Battlefield 4 (x86).

As I mentioned above, I've got a i7 3770k and 2 GTX 680's in SLi. I'm running windows 8.1 though. In single player (with shadowplay recording on the background) I get 60 FPS 95% of the time, and a few dips into the high 40's on occasion (most other idps are into the 50's). Everything on ultra except AO which is set at SSAO and MSAA 2x with PostAA at high.

I'm running at 2560x1440 though, so if you're running at just 1080p, you are golden.

I'm getting the stuttering, too. I want to think it's not unplayable, but it's hampering my experience for sure. It doesn't seem to be settings related, as I clear the recommended specs and it persists at very minimal resolution. Hmm.

7870 & i5-3570k

Does alt-tabbing fix the stutter for you when it crops up? Also you can limit the FPS to 60 in Afterburner/Precision, that should make it a smoother experience.

Does anyone know if autoexec.cfg can be used to limit the game to 60 without the use of OC tools? That seemed to work more consistently in BF3 for me.
