Agreed on all your points. The framerate issues especially. I was also surprised to discover cockpit view was a 2D image. :/
Bitched about the framerate a ton during my feedback email and I noticed other people bringing it up on the forums, so hopefully it'll be addressed.

EDIT: dat Ys news.

Yeah, but my main issue with the game is how it is the amateurish look, without a single care or polish. I know that its saying "Beta V.0.1", but they should not let the game be seen on this point of development. And don't get me started on the 1.4GB download.

Well, lesson learned. Never going to KS unproven developers again.

i didn't really care much for muramasa or dragon's crown. such beautiful games though. female lead especially....

finally gonna hit $50 today:
corpse party
corpse party: book of shadows
lone survivor: director's cut
sweet fuse: at your side

adventure games hooooo

It does... I can't help but think about the wasted potential of the setting however.

Take, for example, Lone Survivor. It's presented in 2D pixel art as well, but it's done with a loving care in order to match the art style with the atmosphere. I haven't really reached that cohesive part of Corpse Party where the art adds to the atmosphere. So far it just distracts.

yeah, i'm not going to argue with you there. i think CP works despite it's graphics as opposed to LS which is enhanced by it.

I googled Sweet Fuse. WTF.

Is the game actually good? Never heard of this game.

Bad news for anyone looking forward to getting Switch Galaxy Ultra in a few weeks, when it launches for PS4/Vita: I just got an email from the developer saying it's been delayed to January/February 2014. Apparently they want to add multiplayer, and didn't want to have to patch it in post-launch.

CDJapan has one 64GB Vita memory card in stock at the moment.
9980 yen http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=PCH-Z641J
I checked shipping costs to the U.S. and it said:
FedEx International Priority: 1700 yen, 1-3 days
EMS 1500 yen, 3-6 days
Registered Air Mail 1560 yen, 4-12 days (may take up to 8 weeks)
Air Mail 1150 yen, 4-12 days (may take up to 8 weeks)
SAL 700 yen, 1-3 weeks (may take up to 12 weeks)
Registered SAL 1110 yen, 1-3 weeks (may take up to 12 weeks)

curious as to why no one is buying theirs from Play-Asia lol

Ys news? - i guess the amazon date of nov 26th is correct??!?!

NIS America announced that it will publish Falcom's PlayStation Vita action-RPG Ys: Memories of Celceta in Europe early next year.

Celceta marks the latest entry in the long-running Ys series, which spans multiple decades and several console generations. Memories of Celceta revisits characters and events introduced in the Japan-exclusive Ys 4, offering players an expansive overworld to explore alongside a party of AI-controlled partner characters.

Xseed Games will publish the North American version of Ys: Memories of Celceta on November 26. A European release date has not been announced.

edit: TuneIn radio app is coming next week to vita.

What games are supposed to release in november?

Off the top of my head...
- A-Men 2 (Nov. 5)
- Castlestorm (Nov. 5)
- Injustice (Nov. 12)
- Flower (Nov. 15)
- Amazing Spider-man (Nov. 19)
- Tearaway (Nov. 22)

Possibly Minecraft as well? It's coming, but I don't know if it coincides with its PS4 release or not.

Thanks!
Tearaway has to be in the thread title!

|OT| Tearaway - the modern age mario 64
lol, the mess would be glorious

I bought hotline miami in the cross-buy sale today, £2.23 is a steal for such a good game. I also picked up sound shapes too, which looks pretty cool and I think is getting a ps4 version too which my purchase covers.

Do you want a comprehensive title?

|OT| Spiderman will tear-away injustice on tv!

It's taken them more than two years to release some PS2 ports ...
PS2 remasters of two of the biggest PS2 JRPGs + a roguelike extra game with some very noticeably improved assets, re-arranged OST & stuff for two vastly different platforms (PS3 alone is a bitch to do anything on, but having to figure out how you make it run on Vita as well probably throws some extra hurdles along the way). This with teams that probably aren't that big.

And it hasn't really taken them "more than two years", they just announced the thing a bit prematurely during FFX's 10th Anniversary, something like 6 months before they even started working on it. 1,5 years for two such big HD remasters is nothing, really, not if you don't want to half-ass shit like Ubisoft, Konami & the like have done with (some of) their remasters.

Believe it or not, remastering these games to actually do justice & run well on PS3 & Vita level hardware and even perhaps making some improvements like SQEX likes to do is not a completely inconsequential task, especially not when the team sizes for these HD remasters hardly reach the kinds of massive sizes as developing new games do (the programming for KH HD collection was mainly done by, like, 2-3 programmers, though of course they needed some other staff as well).

These aren't really PS2 ports, but Remasters. Calling stuff like KH HD, FFX | X-2 HD and GoW HD "PS2 ports" is an insult to the great work they've done on the games.

Someone has to make those phone games.
Square Enix themselves don't use much workforce for any of their phone stuff. Remaking an MMO (right down to making a completely new graphics engine and changing how everything works under the hood) in 2 years is what has taken about 1000% of their workforce. They even admitted that XIV 2.0 was such a huge resource drain that it gimped all of their other HD/console development, leading them to cancel quite a lot of projects (one being a PS3/Vita title).

Probably like 10 people working on that slowly...nextgen won't affect Japan much right?

Hmm :(

Maybe they'll realise FF's place in the handheld (non-ios) world and shift gears. Otherwise what has been taking up all their energy? They can't be that inefficient. The online games maybe? Maybe FFXV is mind-blowing...
XIV 2.0 has taken most of their resources. They had, like, 600-700+ people working on that game. The rest is basically Osaka Team (Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep and Dream Drop Distance + some work on ReCoded), Nomura's team (whatever they didn't need to spare for XIV 2.0 was working on XV) and Toriyama/Kitase's team (which has been responsible for XIII-2, Lightning Returns & X | X-2 HD in recent years).

Unlike Takao's pessimistic remark would imply, their iOS stuff doesn't take much resources at all. They've outsourced all or almost all of their mobile phone games' development and hardly have any actual SQEX employees working on those games, other than maybe some creative input or producer-level involvement

I think something is wrong with my Vita. The internet says to open the menu for the PS1 games I'm supposed to touch the touchscreen for 3 secs when the game is running. Not working. Am I doing something wrong?

come on, it's expensive to make those graphics that look like something I made in MS Paint when I was 6

It's not the visual aesthetic that bothers me; I actually think the game looks very endearing. It's more the fact that it's about an hour long, and requires nothing more of the player than walking around and taking in the sights. I like walking around and taking in the sights in video games (Journey, Unfinished Swan, Dear Esther), but ten quid is a bit extortionate!

And it happens to also be the launch date of the new xbawx

Nobody wants an Xbone. You'd be better off with the original Xbox. :lol

Purely from a personal perspective, it means I can give it some loving before abandoning the Vita
temporarily
for anything other than remote play.

I still don't understand the appeal of the PS4 at launch. Your Vita deserves better... but hey, have fun. :P

I think they changed this to be holding the PS button or something now in a recent FW update.

I dunno, I don't recall having any real issues with the game until the second half and even then, I don't think it was overly noticeable or game breaking.

After turning off the vita for few minutes, then I played more then a hour of Oddworld and got that split second freeze on once in front of the water station, just when it autosaved, so maybe it have something to do with this.
But damn, that game sure is demanding... played it for just ~3hours and the battery is down to 25% (or less), but I guess that's normal for games that need lots of processing power, like Uncarted.
Also, when playing for more then 20-30mins with wifi turned on, the rear touchpad gets kinda warm. Hope all above is nothing to worry about.
I guess I'm getting a bit paranoid...
