I don't get the outcry here. You sign up to the service, pay a monthly or yearly subscription fee and you're instantly able to listen to music ... for free. It's just like free games on PS+.

Oh my god.

First the "free games" as a way to justify PS+ paywall, now... what is this?

No one gives a SHIT about Music Unlimited.

You stupid idiots. No one is going to pay for it. You just gimp your console for no reason what so ever.

Have they actually mentioned exactly what file i/o capabilities PS4 has?

I mean, at this stage have they even stated whether you can transfer anything to/from an external drive?

lol wow this sucks. I thought Sony was about choice. I thought Sony was for the gamers, No Sony is about making money like everyone else. lol crazy part if this holds up then clearly the xbox one is the best multimedia device by a mile now.

I know you're being sarcastic, so I'll just say that we all know PS+ ''free games'' aren't free, but the worth of the selection is well worth the price, on top of the other advantages. PS+ isn't the only option if you want to play a game. You don't have to buy PS+ to play Contrast. But you have to buy Music Unlimited if you want to listen to your custom soundtracks and goal horns in NHL.

So three new troubling finds:

- No DLNA

- No MP3 (force Music Unlimited Sub for custom soundtracks)

- Smaller physical size than expected for HDD

Only the HDD part personally concerns me, but the other two stand out more as obvious glaring omissions.

Make your voices heard, @yosp is there.

wait what? its not a standard laptop drive? I want to put an SSD in.

Dont know why, BUT, i like.

To who? I got that from their site...

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/music/music-pass

Xbox Music is a streaming service. Xbox Music Pass is a subscription tied to Xbox Music. One of the features is you can use Xbox Music offline. That page has nothing to do with playing your own music. It's not even about Xbox One. Do you guys think you can't play your own music on PC/360/tablet/phone just because you don't have an Xbox Music Pass (the devices actually discussed on that page)

If I wanted to play music in my living room, I'd use my 6 thousand other peripherals that do it...

Sure. But those will draw my attention/time from turning the PS4. Having my media content instantly and effortlessly available through my PS3 makes me turn it on, watch what's available on the Store, maybe even play a game or two all while I listen to my songs (on the games that support it, should be all too).

You can't use your own music unless you have an Xbox Music pass. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/music/music-pass

LOL, it figures. The games are great, but they both ultimately want to turn these consoles into subscription service boxes. I'm just glad that I have never given a shit about any of this and just want to play games. But wait! There is also a required sub for that as well if you want to play online using internet you already pay for.

From the "PS4: The Ultimate FAQ"
What type of hard drive does PS4 use?

PS4 is equipped with a 5400 RPM SATA II hard drive. Users can choose to install a new hard drive so long as it complies with these standards, is no thicker than 9.5mm, and is larger than 160GB.

They've got to patch this out, surely? Maybe they'll leave it as MU for a while to try and boost subscriptions...

I've never been one for custom soundtracks (putting media files on the PS3 at all for that matter), but I'd be pissed if I was and this was happening.

Missed this too. I hope too many people didn't invest after the video that German site did! :(

I used personal soundtracks one time this gen and that was for Wipeout HD. Sadly, I used mp3 playback and Synology via DLNA for a lot of PS3 music streaming. It is disappointing that that won't be possible at launch.

Didn't know not being able to play your own music is stopping you from playing games. Learn something every day.

Music i can understand but no DLNA is definatley a loss. I used it on my PS3 to view family vids and pics i had on my home server from our trips during the holidays.

Now THIS is some "preorder canceled" shit. What the hell Sony

Something that could easily be added with a firmware update is missing. Everybody cancel!!

It definitely is something that needs to be there and we should spam yosp about it, but wow people are grabbing pitchforks pretty quick.

No dlna????? NO DLNA??????? What in gods name.... I used my ps3 for all kind of dlna, streaming gametrailers, youtube whatever... Dropping this feature ... Seriously, i expect that feature

Sony is pissing me of right now

Why are you (and the rest of people that are doing it) defending the fact that a 399$ 2013 machine isn't capable of reproducing MP3?

Honest question, it goes beyond my comprehension.

Yeah, this isn't a dealbreaker for me at all. The DLNA support is what I find perplexing. At least tell me it's coming shortly. I don't see how they don't change their mind on this.

oh no...now ill have to listen to just the game im playing.

Is it really that important to people to be listening to their linkin park while pwning some righteous noobs in call of dooty?

It isn't that difficult; they are the diehards who will fall on a sword for their brand.
