They have done studies and know how much activity is actually being spent outside of gaming. In fact the PS3 is the most popular streaming device. Which to me seems odd for two reasons. One is the PS3 is not the most popular device in North America (not sure how popular Netflix is outside of NA), and secondly many consider the PS3 to be the more hardcore gaming platform of the three major players.

How many people care for voice commands though? It's something that many companies are eager to shove at us and tell us it's the future but very few people actually want to talk to their electronic devices. It's something that looks great in demo form like this, but in reality most will not want to be saying "Xbox, ...", they'll just revert back to using their controller.

Yeah all this was in my head while watching it, but the way they say it doesn't make sense. It's almost as if they think instant switching works game to game. In that case commenting about disc titles would make sense, but that's not how it works.

Wasn't there talk at one time of a disc-based game launching from the HDD, and giving you a small grace period of play time to allow you to pop the disc in?

snap has already been shown in a functional way though. Obviously we have to wait and see until launch, but something tells me that if the friends list and game invites work as they should nobody will held accountable for perpetuating those rumors which is not how it used to be.
 
So why when he goes to ESPN the first time it shows one thing, then he comes back like two minutes later and it shows the SAME thing. Was he watching a recording? That part seems like a recording...

Snap has not been shown to work with Xbox Live connected as far as I can tell. Why wasn't it shown in this video? It would have been the perfect time.

great showing and features. love the kinect stuff. i don't get the hate here. if you don't like what you see, get the ps4 or a pc.

Looks real good. I could def see myself using most of those features. Hopefully Ryse isn't a total bust so I have a reason to keep my preorder.

Ruse sucks? Forza's a disappointment? I mean, is this definitive without reviews? Disappointing to whom? The Xbox spinoff stuff is investor posturing, we've seen this for a while now and it's pretty meaningless as it stands. As far as MS IS EVIL for buying Titanfall- well, you're free to think that.

I just see a lot of opinions there.
 
The UI is really nice. Kinect looks to be something that I'll get a lot of use from just bouncing around things. Now hopefully Snap is 100% functional by launch.

I fully plan on snapping NFL Redzone to a game on Sunday the 24th.

Well Cboat at least already has an out built into his story. He said these issues could be cleared up before launch. Win-Win for him/her.

Nothing is definitive even WITH reviews. That's not a reason to not have an opinion based on the information currently presented.

course I am not always good at taking my own advice :P

I totally want an XB1 now (more for Xbox Fitness but this is icing) but that ebates/paypal deal I got for the PS4 was too good to pass up

Here's hoping EBgames runs some good trade in promo's (PS3 and WiiU) by january :P
 
Well, now that makes 2 really good promotional videos I've ever seen MS release for the Xbox One. The Invitation commercial and now this UI walkthru. Good stuff. I could def see the advantages to going full digital with these features. Too bad they couldn't express this months ago.

In my short time with the 360, I was a fan of the voice controls, glad to see them evolve them. TBH though the whole sign in by camera thing is too scary for me. /oldmanafraidoffuture.
 
regardless of the bad news for the Xbone, I always knew the UI would kick ass. That's one thing that MS will always murder Sony on.

And it hasn't been shown when there was a hamster in front of Kinect eating marshmallows? What's going to happen then?
 
Skype:
- the video of Yusef and the other guy in the right corner is delayed by 1+sec during a Skype call. Why is that? If the Kinect is right there showing you you, shouldn't it be in sycn? Maybe it has to match the incoming call.
- at 7:39, it shows an Incoming Call from the same guy they just communicated with that already taken place. Is that like a Skype History Icon or another icon showing another call coming? Was there a real call? :)

Looks neato but I wouldn't use voice features too much.

Also, how would this work on say my computer desk using a 27 inch monitor with Kinect? Does it need a minimum distance to be away from me? People at computer desks sit close to the monitor eh.

It is opinionated, but those were the threads that surfaced up there with many pages of discussion.

Those stuff happened concurrently, I'm just sharing what I saw of the situation. I'm speaking of the aggregation of the news on GAF across different peaks of the news cycle.

As for what I wrote down there, please don't assume that was my opinion. I just 'estimated' the overall mood of the high traffic threads. If you bother checking my post history, I didn't say shit about Ryse or the Titanfall situation, but the overall perspective towards it was negative, so I wrote it as I saw it.

I think there's a mild misunderstanding on your end, and on my end, I did something rude by perpetuating what seemed like a hivemind perspective of the news that happened.

Let's close this amicably, shall we?

I use voice a lot more than I used to even on my phone. It makes it easier to navigate while you're doing other things (driving, walking etc). I can imagine searching for something to watch/play while cleaning the room, or when your hands are otherwise preoccupied doing some other task.

My girlfriend laughs at me any time I use the phone Google voice commands though.Wonder what kind of looks I'll get in the living room.

Again...these videos seem to indicate they are working (the first one is somewhat slow but that was an earlier build so of course it was slower)....

And once again I'll reiterate...MS still has 2 weeks of crunch time...Personally I'm more concerned/intrigued by Sony. Sony is launching 1st and we haven't seen anywhere near as much from Sony....
