Everyone talking about how this is a win for gamers makes me very skeptical. How does Sony benifit from all this?
Were not the only ones excited, heres what Eric Monacelli, Marketing Manager at Naughty Dog had to say:
I buy everything on Amazon holiday gifts, birthday presents, books, clothes, tech, even toothpaste and often deodorant. So when I learned Jak, Daxter, Drake, Joel, and Ellie all our incredible characters and their stories via our games and DLC would be available as PlayStation Store digital downloads on Amazon it just felt right.
You have to respect and think that any company with their own Easter egg is a perfect fit for all things Naughty Dog and PlayStation. If youre not aware of what that means just visit www.relentless.com. Youll love what you find.
So, as a consumer and fan of video games being accessible in as many ways as possible Thank you Sony PlayStation and Thank you Amazon. The next generation is going to be relentless and awesome.
There is a simple workaround for Europeans. It's discussed extensively earlier in the thread.Well, still useless for anyone outside US...
Am I the only one confused on how this is going to work?
By that, I mean is Amazon making exclusive contracts with publishers to get different pricing compared to the PSN store? It doesn't seem like Amazon could ever beat the actual console maker in price for digital copies unless something like that happened. In which case, why would Sony allow this?
I love competition, but when a company decides to just seemingly throw money away . . . I'm skeptical of what is actually happening.
I only see PS3 stuff here. And some Vita.
No PS4 goodies?
This is incredible news.

Thanks. Sounds good for now.Blog post says stuff (including PS4) will only be available Day 1. No pre-order.
Looks like pre-order (and pre-load) are exclusive to Sony's PSN Store for now.

Day one as in console release... or date of game release? The stores are all selling certain PS4 games... so shouldn't Amazon?

the release date of ALL of the PS4 items is technically 11/15. Sony just dropped the street date embargo for retailers on all products except the system itself.
This is something that MS should have done when they intruduced Xbone DRM.
I don't think Walmart has the infrastructure for this. Their website layout and functionality is horrendous.
If competitor digital storefronts are allowed... did anyone else immediately think Steam? What if... oh god. I need this. Amazon is a great start though. I fucking love Amazon. In Canada though![]()
I'm confused as to why Sony is allowing a direct competitor for digital prices? I never checked out Amazon digital game prices but judging by the reactions it must be good.
Amazon will bring in a huge number of sales which Sony will get a share of no matter the pricing.
I agree, not using credit card on PSN, but they added several new options to buy games/psn money. Paypal, the (in)famous sofortüberweisung, etc. You don't need to buy those cardsWait, does that mean I can finally buy digital stuff without buying PSN cards?!
THIS! Competition is always good. Please come to Germany
So if you buy it on amazon does it auto download? or do you have to enter a code on PSN or something?

QUESTION:
People have mentioned that you can buy stuff off Amazon using a fake American shipping address and a foreign card. I know this is true, since I've done it for an online games sale (pretty sure they were Steam keys).
BUT
Is there a possibility that if someone were to use this method for the Amazon PSN Store, and Amazon got wise to it, they could digitally remove/void your games? Does anyone know the answer/details to this yet?
Basically this seems like a greal deal (the B2G1 especially, considering that's not available in Canada for PS4 games), but I don't want to go through with it only to lose out on my purchases down the road.
